Yes, it is a fantastic guide to explore the business world - whatever your age, whatever your job is!

As an IT professional who have been involved in corporate world for more than 8 years and a survivor of one merge, one company shut down and one acquisition: while reading this book I either confirmed my hard way gained experience or discovered new concepts which made me stronger player. As a result, That made me think the writer knows the game very well...

Almost everyone of us, know or at least feel that the rules of the business has been changing at light speed. And we have one common mission: survive, or better improve and catch better opportunities. If you want to know how this would be possible: read this book and get the mentality to be a winner.

I wish Arlene had lived nearby, so that she could be my consultant whom I could ask my career related questions. It doesnt seem possible but her book would be my reference all over my professional life. I also like to note that the content of the book does not only be limited with business life but also in life general. (Well, to my concern these two are not seperate).

Believe me it is worth to try...

I bought this book as a gift for my father, who has been carving decoys for many years and taking classes with some of the local experts around the Chesapeake Bay area. When he brought the book to class the instructor had to borrow it for a week to read! It is not necessarily a book for beginners, but if you are serious about the craft, it is a top notch reference book.

How to get a job in the USA by Nara Venditti is the best book I have found to help immigrants and foreigners looking for a job in the US go through the job search process.

This book will help you to have a much better understanding of what you need to do to get the job that you want.

The book comes with the perspective of a person who was born outside the US, traveled to the US, and went through the job search process herself. This is a MUST have book for foreign-born and immigrant job seekers!

Many years ago the Internet was created as a means for scientists and the military to communicate with one another. In recent years the Internet has become a means of sharing other forms of communications, including special interests groups, hobbyists, researchers, and for even conducting business. Why not use the Internet for finding a job? A number of companies and job recruiters post job openings and other information concerning employment on the Internet. How to Get Your Dream Job Using the Web, authored by Shannon Bounds and Arthur Karl, opens up the resources offered on the Internet for use by job hunters today.

One of the major strengths of the book, which is evident as you open it up, are the extensive listings of Websites, newsgroups, and BBS sites listing current job opportunites and other employment related information. The reader is introduced to a number of job-hunting resources, such as online recruiters, job and resume banks, and professional organizations that will aid those seeking employment. Well-known corporations such as Intel, Microsoft, NetScape, Novell, Sun Microsystems, Texas Instruments, and Zenith are listed, providing immediate access to loads of information on current job openings, qualifications, and recruiting workshop schedules.

Of special interest to readers, this publication provides readers with all of the instruction necessary to produce top-quality home pages, electronic resumes, and cover letters, along with information on how to effectively post and e-mail them on the Internet. The authors provide a considerable amount of helpful instruction on how to produce effective, creative home pages, resumes, and cover letters that will get results. For example, the authors provide the readers with tips from top recruiters on what they are looking for in resumes from prospective employees. A number of online resources are also provided so that readers can gain insight on how to compose resumes targeting specific career fields.

The book is accompanied by a CD containing everything necessary to produce top-notch Websites, resumes, and cover letters. The CD contains a number of helpful Internet tools, including shareware versions of popular HTML editors, graphics programs, sound file editors, E-mail, FTP, and News programs. The CD also contains a generous amount of Web page clipart, such as arrows, backgrounds, bars, buttons, and other images. With the wealth of information available on the Internet, those seeking employment will find this book to be a valuable resource guide. If you are serious about finding a job, you cannot afford to be without this book!

If you can still find a copy of this book - grab it!

Townsend Albright has written a wonderful book about holding it all together financially when the unthinkable happens. I loved his ideas about negotiating with mortgage lenders, and for that matter, negotiating with everybody, as an alternative to bankruptcy or other less desirable options. Albright's book helps you keep the wolves at bay while trying to figure out your next step. When all else is bedlam, this must-read provides a sane approach for making it through the night. As an attorney who has helped financially-troubled individuals and others hitting the financial skids, I thought this book was an excellent, non-legal way to survive it all.

This book is an excellent resource for anyone just starting out as well as for the more seasoned job holder. It is written in a clear and interesting manner that engages your interest from the start. It is very well organized, and the comments by editor Ricki Frankel are especially cogent, helpful and insightful.

I am a big fan of Hundreds of Heads Books. It's as if you are sitting around with hundreds of people and getting the benefit of their collective experiences. It's brainstorming - but it's happening in your living room while you're sitting by yourself and sipping a cup of coffee.

The book covers every aspect of finding a job and being successful at it.
Yes, as the title suggests, it is about surviving, but it is also about thriving. It is about cultivating good habits as well as good relationships. It offers much in the way of practical advice that will help you avoid the pitfalls that lead to job dissatisfaction or trouble in the work place.

Whether you're looking for a job or want to feel better and do better at your current job, this is the book for you. It's funny and educational and could make a huge difference in your life and your career.

I credit this book with changing my life. In a period of lengthy unemployment I purchased the book, read every bloody page, and finally got the job I really wanted. And that job put me on a trajectory for long term career success. I am very sad to see that the book is out of print.

Even 15 years after its initial publication I would recommend this book highly. It will be missing tools that would be used today (for instance, not a word is devoted to the Internet), but there is still lots and lots of good advice to be found. Out of work? Buy this book!

Great but out of print?

This was the best job search book I have ever found. Why is it out of print so soon? It was published in 1992 with no updates or reprintings? I am shocked and disappointed. It is well worth your time and effort to find a used copy if you can! It is the complete guide to effective job finding....not just a catchy phrase.

One of my daughter's first favorite books

This is really a fantastic book. It teaches a real lesson, not a contrived one like so many children's books, and by example (of the dog), not just by preaching. The subject is treatment of animals and the morality of hunting, and of making decisions for oneself, despite one's training (programming?).

Some parents are squirrely about the words deal or kill or hunt, but I think literature is a great place to introduce these things, because you can TALK about them, unlike in a kids' movie, where you are the last thing in the room they will pay attention to.

And if the story isn't good enough, the illustrations (as in everything by Brian Wildsmith) are just breathtakingly beautiful.

The length of the book is long enough to help children establish a decent attention span, but not so long as to be unreasonable to expect them to listen. We were lucky enough to get this for a shower gift before our first daughter was born, and are so grateful to have had it.

A great book for yourself or for a gift. HIGHLY recommended for all ages.

What a *relief* to find this kind of book...

This tells the story of a trained hunting dog that just doesn't have the heart to bring the ducks back to his owner. He turns the hunter around and they both care for the injured ducks instead of hunting & killing.

I do not believe in hunting and I think this a gentle message and story to read to my young son, regarding his family's values and beliefs.

It is very hard to find books with such heart-warming messages.
I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to open up the world to their children in a refreshing way and not just the way "everyone else goes about life".

The illustrations are similar to "The Kiss" style and my 9-month old loves the bold colors and open spaces.

Thank you, Mr. Wildsmith, for opening readers' eyes to the sadness and pain hunting creates.
