Great Resource for an Industry in Need of Workers!

I've been a home health care worker and homeopathic specialist for ten years and have found few resources that address the alternative medicine field. I was so suprised when I ran across this guide that I bought it just to see what it had to say about the industry these days. What a great resource! The health care industry overall is in such need of workers right now, and not just doctors and nurses. This guide explained career options outside of the traditional doctor's office and HMO realm. I strongly recommend this guide to anyone who is considering a career in health care, but who might be turned off by what's going on in the system right now. Don't let the corporate style health care system turn you off from helping people stay well if that's what you really want to do! Follow what your heart tells you!

This guide gave an even breakdown of the health care world beyond hospitals including therapeutic medicines and jobs in ancillary services such as pharmacists and medical technicians. This industry needs all the good bodies it can get! And these jobs pay well! I strongly recommend this guide to anyone even considering a career path in health care.

This guide really fills an empty niche

This is a great guide that highlights an area of the health care profession that is rarely discussed in terms of career options. It really fills a niche and I am yet to find another publication that covers the subject as extensively as this one, if at all. I've been looking into the health care industry for a while now, but can't afford the time and expense of an extensive medical education, but found little information on hands-on medical professions aside from nursing or becoming a doctor.

Not only is this guide helpful, but necessary. Many people have been unemployed for so long, they're desperately searching for alternative career paths that they can get into quickly, but that also offer rewarding work. Well, this is it for anyone who has been mildly interested in the health care profession, but hasn't been able to find any really helpful information. The descriptions of individual jobs and workplace conditions was helpful in building a picture of what each career path is actually like. Very helpful overall.

Dropping out of corporate America and into health care

Having spent more than a dozen years in corporate America as a marketing specialist, I'm looking forward to embarking on a path that will get me into the health care industry. This guide was helpful in giving me a variety of options to consider; I found the acupuncturist profile particularly appealing! I'm looking forward to following up on the resources provided in the book, specifically those related to alternative medicine/therapies.

a job well done in terms of giving me a very detailed picture of the IT industry. well-written and well-balanced. i'm already in the IT industry but want to make a career switch from front-end development (been doing it for a year now) over to back-end development. of course, i'm talking to friends and colleagues and gathering their advice, but I thought it couldn't hurt to pick up this guide. in fact, it was really helpful. plus, it's always kinda hard to ask people about what they make, so the fact that this guide lays it out with job descriptions and salary ranges was very enlightening indeed.

I found this guide really helpful in clarifying the various sectors of the Information Technology industry. It was all laid out in a clear and organized way and was very easy to read. The information is broken up into easy-to-digest paragraphs with bold headings, so after an initial read, you can skim through pretty easily to review the main ideas. The writing was professional, without being stuffy and it was even funny at times. But most importantly, it was genuinely informative.

It's clear this guide was written by an expert. I definitely feel like I got my money's worth in that I had a few vague ideas on what job occupation was right for me, and now I know what specifically to pursue. I am now about to embark on classes in User Interface design and Java programming. With my new skills, I'm hoping to work my way into the IT department at my health care/insurance company.

This guide was really helpful in giving me ideas about what I can do in marketing. I was always kind of interested but only had a general sense of what marketing is. I especially liked the real people profiles that describe in detail some of the different career paths that you can take. I give this guide a thumbs up!

I'm one of those lost souls who never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up, and have been in the exploratory phase for a long time now. My friends have often suggested marketing as a potential career path because of its combination of creativity and practical analysis, both strengths of mine. I liked this idea and began my search, but found that most of the career books out there were flashy and gimicky, or too specific for what I had in mind. I just wanted somewhere to start that would give me a general picture of what Marketing is all about and what opportunities are to be had in the industry. This WetFeet Insider Guide provided just that--a general view of the different careers in Marketing and a breakdown of the industry itself. The descriptions of different sectors of industry and the profiles of real jobs have given me a lot of ideas as to where I want to go next. And the upbeat writing style got me really charged up. I've gone from being confused and unfocused to really excited and ready to make the next step towards a marketing career. This is a great starting point for lost souls like I was. I highly recommend it.

i really had a good time reading this guide. it's written in a fun, snappy tone, and yet the information included is valuable and serious. i'm definitely interested in getting involved in brand management, and the in-depth day in the life of a brand manager helped me see what i thought was a good role for me and know that my hunch/assumptions were right! of course, now that I've read the day in the life of a creative specialist, i'm tempted to go that way too. thanks for giving me the full range of possibilities in this industry. oh yeah, and i really found the "stealth marketing tips" to be helpful. cheers!

Getting my own internship

This guide has things like sample cold-calling scripts and questions to ask to break into a company you'd like to intern for. Exactly the stuff I need now that I'm looking at making a career change, and internships look to be the best route towards making that change. I like that this guide lays out a bunch of different options that are less formal than the internships set up at big companies. Of course, I'll still try for those formal programs, but I'm also going to give the informal route a go and see how that pans out.

I bought this guide for my little brother, but after taking a look at it myself, felt prompted to recommend it to others. It was filled with great information, from two very good authorities--an MBA professor and a career counselor. I wish I had found a guide like this when I was still in school! The career planning advice is indispensible and the scripts for cold-calling and networking have proved to be really effective for my brother. It's harder than ever for new graduates to get good jobs after school and internships are becoming important tools for taking definitive steps towards a real career, rather than just another job. I strongly encourage all students to take a look at this guide!

A Great Step-by-step Guide

Everyone will tell you how important it is to get an internship to jumpstart your career, but most resources give little more than a few general tips that could be applied to any job searching situation. Especially if you have a specific career in mind, finding the right internship, not just any internship, is crucial. This guide told me everything I needed to know about how to find or create the internship that most suited my future career goals, and how to turn that internship into a full-time job offer. It was all laid out in a step-by-step manual style, that broke down this seemingly formidable task into manageable chunks. I really appreciated the cold-calling tips and script suggestions, as cold-calling has always been a particular weakness of mine. I recommend this to all my fellow students who might be spinning their wheels trying to find the right internship.

This guide really gave me what I needed in terms of tips and training for the salary negotiation process. I'm a great student and feel confident that I will be successful in the business world, but have always been a little shy about asserting myself, especially with potential employers. Now I feel like I've got some great information that will get me started off on the right foot when I start my interviews. I think these negotiation skills may even come in handy through the course of my career. I recommend this for everyone who feels they might need some real nuts and bolts advice on the salary negotiation process.

this guide helped me get a raise after 2+ years of absolutely no raises at the company i work for. i've always been really bad at negotiating for a raise and other benefits, so i finally looked for outside help--esp. considering today's job/work market. wetfeet's guide was just what i needed. it kept me focused and got me organized so that i could build a sound argument for why i deserved more money and more perks in lieu of a huge raise. i'm happy to say that it's really improved my attitude at work and got me motivated to stick around for longer than the three years i'd planned to stay at this job (i'm closing in on the three-year mark now).

When Pappy Goes Hunting is a wonderfully accurate story of a way of life that still exists. If you are in a family that is involved with hunting, your children will be able to compare this book with real life activities. If your family is not involved with hunting, this book will help you and your children understand why some people hunt. The illustrations of the country setting helps you visualize where hunting is allowed. This is a children's picture book, but all ages will enjoy the story and the pictures.

This book is so great. I actually remember my father getting up in the morning and going off in the woods the same way the pappy in the book does.My daughter truly enjoyed it. There is just something so magical to the way it relates to the hunters of Central Pennsylvania. I would recommend it to anyone.

When Pappy Goes Hunting is a beautiful book for the children of deer hunters. The book shows the hunting lifestyle in a positive manner, which is wonderful for kids who only hear negative things about hunting in the media. The book is for young children, probably 3 to 7, and is written in verse. When Pappy Goes Hunting is a beautiful book.

I just finished this book while flying to Chicago to work with a client. While I think I am on top of my game from a business manners perspective, I found myself running a checklist on me and how I handle myself in certain business situations and yes I found some holes in my armor.

This is one of those books you need to have in your reference library. We all need help in handling ourselves in business situations that require that we put our best foot forward. Just remember to refer to this gem before you make a fool out of yourself and loose a very important client or worse in our highly competitive business world.

I enjoyed this book. It was an easy read book that gave good examples and good advice. Many times there were situations mentioned that I would have never thought would have mattered in a business environment. I learned many things on how to handle myself and appearance in a professional way. Many of the things mentioned in the book are easy to implement and take little time, others are larger. I would recommend this book to every student before entering the business work place.

This book gives 601 little things that you probably already do know, but I bet that if you have to stop and think about them, you will realize that you do not remember them. A very good book that reminds us of the way to do things a little better than we were doing them now, and a reminder for the other 599 things that we were doing to keep on doing. This book gives something for everyone. I am glad that I bought it, and I will read it more than once, you can be sure of that.

But I disliked the internal pictures quality. I want to see when he tells about the time when we spent nights at Sandor Hauser home learning to reload cartdriges in a homemade C Press, and also the time in CRA, SHTE, APTA. And there are lots of Brazilian friends waiting the Potruguese edition.

This was a great book. I am by no means a hunter but this book was full of many colorful and entertaining anecdotes that I enjoyed immensely. The author's very unique background made for many stories that translate into his love for hunting and apparently compliment his natural story-teller nature. I would highly recommend this to anyone that enjoys reading about life's passion - whether it be hunting or family, Rodrigo Meirelles has the ability to keep your attention and leave you wondering if there will be a sequel soon...

I've read several books on job interviewing preparation, my favorite being Knock 'em Dead 2007: The Ultimate Job Search Guide (Knock 'em Dead) and this book, Win 'Em Over! Get Hired! Both authors (Martin Yate and Irv Jasinski) are experts in their field with heavy HR and consulting backgrounds in business and industry. Their approaches are similar but from different perspectives. Reading both, I feel I've gotten the best of both worlds. I owe the great job and salary offer I received this month to both gentlemen. Thanks fellas!

In "Win 'Em Over! Get Hired!: Job Interviews That Produce Job Offers", author Irv Jansinski draws upon his many years of professional experience and expertise as a manager of employment and recruiting for several leading companies, where he also has trained hundreds of Human Resource supervisors and managers in the 'art and science' of job interviewing. Organized into three major sections ('Crucial Preparation Before Your Interview'; 'Presenting Yourself Impressively During Your Interview'; and 'What To Do After Your Interview', every aspect of the job interview process is comprehensively addressed in a clear, accessible, 'user friendly' text that will effectively enhanced anyone's preparation for, and performance during, a job interview regardless of the position being applied for. The more competitive the job market, the greater need for reading what Irv Jasinki has to say on securing employment. Simply stated, "Win 'Em Over! Get Hired!" should be considered mandatory reading for anyone seeking to get themselves hired, to get themselves promoted, to determine their true financial worth and negotiate their salary accordingly, to pick the job offer that's best for them, and so much more.
