Robert Terzuola's many years of experience as a custom knife maker are thoughtfully distilled into this handy and interesting book. "The Tactical Folding Knife" details and explains the many aspects of the design and construction of a modern folding knife. This book presupposes a certain level of technical proficiency regarding the use of the industrial tools needed to produce a folding knife of this type, but this fact does not detract from its accessibility for both the experienced machinist and the curious enthusiast. This book is broken down into chapters that illustrate not only the basic design and construction of a locking liner folding knife, but also includes chapters describing the characteristics of different component materials, helpful tips regarding specialized tools and a section on the care and maintenence of a finished knife. Although I don't think I will rush out and buy a lathe, I do feel that this book illuminates the subject in a way that can be appreciated by the layman as well as the experienced machinist

The best in-print book on this topic

Robert Terzuola's name will be instantly recognizable to knife collectors the world over as the veteran maker of some of the finest tactical knives available. In this excellent book, Terzuola shares his knowledge of the new 'hot' item among collectors - the tactical folding knife.

The book covers design, shaping, fitting and finishing tactical folders in a refreshingly readable style. Simple enough for even non-knife enthusiasts yet detailed enough for new makers looking to improve their work - a great combination. Accompanied by masterful advice, clear step-by-step photographs, and superb diagrams of the famous linerlock mechanism, this book is worth every cent for the information value alone. If you are a beginning maker or simply interested in how much craftsmanship goes into these tools, you need to look no further than this book.

I liked the way this guide was set up. It delivered on what it said it would in terms of getting me quickly up to speed on who the big players are in the industry as well as what their specialties are. This helped me figure out who I want to target in my job search. I also really liked getting the bird's eye view from insiders on what it's like to work at the various pharmaceutical firms as well as the distinction between pharma and biotech. I've got friends in the industry who've also filled me in, but wanted to know more about other companies. I would recommend this guide to anyone looking at breaking into this industry, whether it's in the science and engineering side of things or the business, sales or marketing fields.

Not only was this guide a great and easy read (kudos on the writing), but it gave me a bunch of great snapshots on a number of companies I am now going to target as I get ready to graduate with a science degree. I especially appreciated the direct quotes from insiders on life at these different companies. Thanks, Wetfeet! I'm now going to buy your Careers in Biotech & Pharma to get more indepth info on the industry in general.

I found this book to be very enlightening indeed. I thought it was going to be sample answers and it was, but it also includes great info about the types of interview questions one can be asked such as behavioural and competency both of which are very now for interviewers. It also includes chapters on the basic theory of interviewing and a section on how to guess the questions which worked ok for me, I managed to guess about 50% of the questions I was aked. Anyway I have another interview next week so will have another read.

I hadnt done an interview for many years and this book gave me lots of pointers in terms of what to say and not to say. It is nicely written and very well laid out and I was able to get to the answers I needed very easily. It worked for me.

I liked this book because it gave me what I wanted, a way to answer the interview questions. I took the advice given by the authors and created my own answrs but they gave some great tips on what to say and not to say. Overall I would recommend this book, I m sure it gave me extra confidence. Still waitimg to hear about the job tho'

I purchased this book shortly after obtaining a longbow. At the time I was a complete novice with no previous archery experience even with modern compound bows, let alone traditional archery equipment. Conrads book not only gave me the direction I needed to get started, it provided me an excellent foundation in learning to properly shoot my bow and in understanding the various equipment used by traditional archery shooters. And as someone who new very little about modern archery history, I also appreciated the inclusion of short biographies of the individuals who pioneered the resurgance of bowhunting in the 20th Century. Conrads book is will not only be invaluable to the novice just getting started, it will also prove useful as a reference source for the more experienced shooter. If you are interested in obtaining the best available "how to" book on traditional archery, Conrads' book is the one you're looking for.

First of all, as of 2004, this book is not out of print. It will be in print for a long time too, I bet, because of the wealth of information it shares with all interested parties. Do a search.

The author is TJ Conrads who publishes the magazine of the Stickbow community "Traditional Bowhunter". He's known to be a great guy and wonderful promoter of ethical traditional bowhunting specifically and ethical hunting in general . He is well versed on the threats to our sport and is brave enough to take a position. I have never met him, but I emailed him a few times and he was quick to respond personally, which obviously, I liked.

The 363 page book should answer any possible question you might have about traditional bowhunting and archery, from who was Ishi to what is arrow spine. As a novice (for the past 10 years), I can't think of one question I ever had that this book didn't cover thoroughly.

There are four sections to the book. Section one is a brief but thorough history of who shaped where we are with bowhunting including Ishi, Howard Hill, Maurice and Will Thompson among others. About 65 pages.

The second section is about 180 pages covering all the equipment in depth. It has a very good arrowmaking section. The part about tuning your setup is also quite good.

The third section covers the essentials for the hunt like equipment and avoiding common mistakes

The last section is the appendices which are also chock full of useful information.

If your curious about Hunting with a Longbow or a Recurve, this is the bible that will get you started on the right path. Buy it wherever you can find it.

Good book about the all around climate of the Negro Leagues

If you read the title of this book you might think you are getting a detailed account of the the life of Norman "Turkey" Stearnes and the Detroit Stars, like you get from other books dedicated to a player's life, but this book is different. The story is more about the general environment of the Negro Leagues and race relations in the United States from 1919 to 1933. Great interviews with former Negro Leaguers and fans abound in this book, and the reader will get an idea of what life was like for both players and owners at this time. Readers will not only see Turkey Stearnes, but other greats such as Oscar Charleston, Ted Radcliffe, Andy Cooper, James Bell, Bill Petway, and Josh Gibson. The rosters and season stats for the Detroit Stars at the back of the book will be particularly interesting for anyone researching these players, and there are plenty of great photos as well.

I am Turkey Stearnes' oldest daughter and I think that the book clearly shows that these guys were very great and my dad was the greatest of all time and deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. This book helps to give him the recognition that he so justly deserves. I'm sorry that he is not here to see all that is happening with the Negro League players. This has been a long time coming. Thank You Mr. Bak.

I've always been a fan of parachute hackling as flies seem to sit on the water much better. this book opened my eyes to the many new techniques used when paraloop hackling. I now paraloop hackle rather than parachute hackle as it's quicker & the finished flies work on the water. For example,I paraloop hackle Brown Emergers now & have had considerable success with them. There are many techniques & patterns described & illustrated (pictures) in this book. It is well written and instructional steps are very easy to understand & follow.
Highly recommended to all those tiers who apply hackles to their flies.

Tying Flies The Paraloop Way is a first-class reference and a welcome guide for the novice angler as well as for the seasoned fishing enthusiasts with an interest in trying a new, exciting, and fun way to bag the best and tastiest fish.

Worth adding to your technique

Mr. Moutter has developed a tying style that greatly improves on the presentation of emergers. This is the 22nd century answer to Swisher & Richards. It is also the easiest way I know of to tie parachute hackle without too prominent a post.

All you need is the book, some spandflex (or Kevlar or GSP) , a gallows tool for your vise a rubber band and a paperclip. An hour later you will have the technique down and the possibilities thereafter are endless.

There are many patterns illustrating the application of the technique in this fine book, but that is merely a starting point.

This is the only style I know of that is not in Leeson & Schollmeyer's magnificent Flytier's Benchside Reference.

This is a must have book if you ever fish to selective trout. . .

This book is much more than some list of common interview questions. This book helps you understand the employer's concerns behind interview questions. Once you understand what the employer's concerns are, you can form your best answers to those tough interview questions. It will help you put the interview process into the proper perspective so that you can present yourself in the proper light. It has useful information on all of the important aspects of interviewing and follow up. I am in mid-career, not completely new to interviewing, and I still found this book very helpful. I would recommend this book for any job seeker.

A terrific primer on how to kill during that big interview. My wife and I both read it before we had important interviews and we both landed the job. This book is an easy read that offers clear guidelines on how to sell yourself to a potential employer. The best part is that it teaches you "skills," instead of providing a bunch of cheesy responses to interview questions.

This is an excellent book for people who just don't understand what interviews are all about. It take an uncertain thing - the interview - and put parameters and structure around it. I now have a much better sense of what the interview is supposed to acocmplish, which is not necessarily what one might instinctively know.
