Whether you're a newcomer to the magic of Panama City Beach or you have a chest full of memories, this book is for you. Packed with pictures of a time that has passed by, this book lets us relive those moments. You'll enjoy seeing what used to be where and learning some of the history of the area. I bought one book and came back and bought two more for gifts. I'm anxiously awaiting the next J. D. Weeks book on Panama City Beach.

Having received an advance copy of "Panama City" on September 28, I read it from cover to cover. Since I am the author I may be just a tiny bit prejudiced. However, I do believe that anyone who has ever visited Panama City in the last sixty years and enjoyed the beautiful white sand beaches and the emerald green water, will enjoy looking back to a wonderful time in our history. Many of those favorite places to stay, eat, and have fun are no longer around, and it will be a nice trip down memory lane. You may just learn some things about the early history of downtown Panama City, St. Andrews, Millville, Bunker's Cove, the original Panama City Beach of the 1930's, Laguna Beach, and of course Long Beach Resort with the world famous Hangout! Paper Towns

Go Green for a great read.

I know there a couple of months left in 2008, but Paper Towns gets my vote for best YA book of the year. John Green wrote a book that celebrates literature and the impact it has on those who read it, digest it, and learn to connect with it. Forget the YA tag-this book reaches adults as well.
This insightful, introspective, and ironic page-turning mystery entertains and educates simultaneously. Quentin is a hero to cheer for and Margo is a heroine to hope for. As for the mystery, well, see if you can solve it before Q does.

Charming and clever

Paper Towns was a pleasure to read.
It's littered with charm, pop culture, banter, and mystic.
I have to say I was so tempted to turn to page 305 and see what happened in the end because every page was a gripping suspense.

What happened to Margo?
I wanted to know.

But I restrained myself and reading without knowing the outcome was more rewarding.
There are some truths in this book that ring so true for my life and struggles with friends and high school that it could have been my own life, there, on the pages. But it wasn't. Instead it was a story that left me with goosebumps. Besides, my life could never be quite as clever. :P
There were some parts that I was unimpressed with. The emphasis of Walt Whitman's poem was very overplayed. I especially hated the fact that I was spoon fed it's meaning as it fit to the book. I found there was a too heavy reliance on 'Song of Myself'. It made the story drag.
However, the character interactions, the laugh out loud wit of dialog, and the quirky bits of a true imagination redeemed the book.
So I recommend it. In fact. I recommend all of Mr. Green's novels because he's truly brilliant. :)

To everyone who surrounds Margo Roth Spiegelman, she is an adventurous, unconventional, and intelligent person and a highly admired someone that everyone puts on a pedestal. So when Margo sneaks into Quentin Jacobsen's room one glorious night and involves him in her crazy exploits, he can't help but feel as if a new page has been turned, and just maybe he can be a part of the marvelous Margo's life.

But the next morning all of Quentin's hopes are dashed with Margo's disappearance. Her parents and the police think this is just another one of her stunts, but Q's not so sure. Cause Margo has left him a string of clues, one right after another, which just might lead him to her. But the thing is, he's not sure what he'll find.

John Green brings readers another surprising, witty, and fully honest book in Paper Towns. His writing is captivating from the very beginning as multitudes of details, no mater how large of small, flow seamlessly together. Green has a knack for highlighting the little distinguishing factors that make us human, making for more believable characters and completely enthralling book.

The mystery in Paper Towns is clever, and will leave readers scratching their heads as Q and his friends struggle to piece together the clues with some frustration and tons of humor. But the teens are just as quick to get serious as they contemplate what has actually happened to Margo and as Quentin especially comes to see her in a completely different light with a little help from the poetry of Walt Whitman.

Though Paper Towns did slow down a little bit in the middle of the book as Quentin hits a brick wall in his search, this novel is suspenseful, hilarious, and quirky, and especially appealing to the well read teen. The characters are as real as your own friends, and teens can't help but see pieces of their own lives in this amazingly candid book. Read at your own risk though--Green's works are completely addictive, and once you start, it's impossible to stop.

I picked up the Disney World Passporter at a book fair and was so excited to see they have one for the cruise line too. This guide is packed with more information than you could possibly need with honest reviews and detailed information for the on-board activities and shore excursions. This spiral-bound version is nice because you can remove the pages you don't need and tuck things into the pockets. Highly recommended!

Stickers, airline ticket holders, a leather journal with photo ID slots, website URL's to all of the vendors, fan sites, excursion companies, and everything you will ever need to know about the hotels, flight arrangements, ship crew, stats, ports, events, food, and every inch of the ships themselves. This book should be more widely known. It should be taught about in schools from kindergarten on up----well, at least the main idea of "reverence for life" should be taught. It's a little "deep" in places but you'll feel enriched in the end. Recommended.

Classic of Global (NOT WESTERN) Civilization

Einstein was not the Person of the 20th Century. Not by a long shot. Albert Schweitzer wins that distinction hands down. In the 20th and 21st century, too much emphasis has been placed on the relationship between technological advances and the corresponding impact on society. Schweitzer simply transcended achievement by weaving a legacy of the most accomplished Renaissance Man in the last 200 years. Combining intellectual brilliance and an amazing thirst for humanitarian service, Schweitzer simply made the world a much better place. He accomplished more in one life time than anyone I can think of.

The Philosophy of Civilization is a monument. This was Schweitzer's labor of love, and predictably, he produced yet another masterpiece. Reading Schweitzer should be required reading in philosophy, humanities, and religious studies at all universities and colleges in America. He should be the standard by which all GLOBAL thought is measured.

Colorful tales of Florida's pirate & treasure past....

Review Date: 2004-12-11
The stories told in this small gem of a book (118 pgs.) are engrossing and entertaining from cover to cover. You'll meet such characters as; pirate Jose Gaspar a.k.a "Gasparilla" (who was not just a myth around whom a yearly parade revolves in Tampa), Homer Ludwig --- an eccentric old guy in the Keys who found pirate treasure around the turn of the century and a Greek sponge diver in Tarpon Springs named Alex Pappadakus who accidentally stumbled into an undersea fortune. To name just a few.... More than simple folktales, these stories are true and well written. Author Jack Beater seems like just the type of guy who could liven up any party telling tales of Florida's rich pirate and treasure past.

If you have ever been to Walt Disney World in Florida this is the souvenir you want to document your trip. If it happened to you, it probably happened to Shari and Mike, but they made it seem funny and put it to paper. Hide all those little Disney hotel soaps so the housekeeping staff would bring more? yup. Think that Splash Mountain song is telling you to show something naughty? yup. Have a great time at Disneyquest? Well, you will just have to read this book.

And then there is Las Vegas. Read about the waiter who didn't know to quit when he was ahead. Ever been on Manhattan Express? Ever wish you hadn't?

Plus tips, reviews, planning info and much more. This book is huge and well worth the price. It's fun and funny, well written and informative, easy to read and hard to put down. I have been to Disney World hundreds of times and I still learned a thing or two, and was entertained along the way. If you are going for the first time, read this book to learn what you are in for.

This book is a souvenir for everyone who has gone to Walt Disney World and was too lazy to write it all down.

The book that started me on a lifetime of reading

When I was about twelve years of age, I read this book as the first real book I had ever read. I loved it. The story concerns some kids who seek an underwater treasure, the result of a shipwreck centuries ago. There are also some bad guys after the treasure. I just ordered this book (which I haven't seen in thirty years) to read to my children. After I finished this book, I read as many Robb White books as I could find and then branched out into other types of books. This is the book that started me on a lifetime of reading. I gave it five stars because of its effect on my life. I fear it may not be as good as I remember and, beware, it is not politically correct; i.e., it is violent and portrays violence in pursuit of a good purpose as good. Although I originally found this book in school and read it with the encouragment of my teachers, this book would not be allowed in public schools today.

Renee Deloriea's book is an authentic account of one young lady's experience with God at the Brownsville Revival. She is totally believable; her book shares how her children's own experiences with God have brought about positive change within their schools--something America desperately needs. Her book thrilled my heart; and her reference to another book, GLORY, by Ruth Ward Heflin has brought untold blessings to me and fellow teacher friends who shared the book. Thank you Renee! God bless you!

I wasn't sure which book to buy on mold, but found the topic I needed - mold on furniture. The other chapters were helpful and shed some light on a problem with the planters at the house. It is written from an insiders perspective which was helpful to really understand what is going on with mold, sampling (or not to sample! haha), and good removal. Very candid and practical. I recommend it.

This is a very useful book that gives you the scoop on mold and building issues. Initially I am always skeptical about "mold" books as most of them on the market seem to want to tell you how scarry mold is rather than attempt to give you common sense advice on how to prevent mold or hanlde mold situations. Since I deal with people's homes this book has been a great resource in a readable succint package.
