If you can go to San Francisco and take Don Herron's Hammett walking tour...do it! I promise you will be entertained, informed and exhausted (remember, SF is a city of hills.) Don is really an expert on the life and literary merits of Dashiell Hammett, especially the works he produced while a resident of this beautiful city by the bay. Over the many years that Don has guided this tour, he has uncovered (and willingly shares) many fascinating facts and factoids about Hammett and 1920s San Francisco. If your travels never take you there, however, this book is a worthy substitute. Beautifully produced and well-written, Don's book is perfect for the armchair traveller and any hard-boiled mystery buff.

This is a very nice book to have. An author wrote about every nice places and every activities you could do within 2 hours drive around Baltimore...He also included the phone numbers and the addresses of every place he had mentioned in the book..It's also good for escaping.

I have lived and traveled extensively in Israel and have found this book to be an enourmous help. It has easy to follow trips, which can be done in a day and allows the reader to see sights not listed in other travel guides. I have recommended it to others and have heard nothing but positive feedback. I advise bringing this book along with a travel guide with places to stay and eat for a complete and easy trip to Israel.

I live in the Phila. area, and can tell you that this is an excellent source of ideas for visiting the area. I borrowed a copy when a visitor was coming from England, and then decided to buy it because it was so helpful. I plan to use it when my family and I are looking for places to go for the day. There's helpful itineraries and maps, along with ratings for special places. I highly recommend this book!

An incredibly beautiful book if you can find it. Really shows what a special place Death Valley is.

My wife and I just returned from a wonderful trip to Rome, Venice and Florence. We bought Whitehot Productions Self Guided Walking Tours from Amazon a few weeks before we left and we were so thankful we did. The Doge Palace is a must see when you are visiting Venice and the Audio Guides realy added to our enjoyment of this historic building. The narrator, in easily understood English, clearly explained the history and importance of everything we were viewing. Our traveling companions were constantly asking us to explain to them the things we were seeing tgether. Don't go to Venice without this guide. We wish that Whitehot Productions had finished their guides for Rome prior to our trip.

I grew up in Oregon and spent most of my summers on the Oregon Coast. I live in Sourth Carolina now, and when I look at this book, it makes me cry ---every time. I am not an experienced travelor, but I know what beauty is. The Oregon Coast defines beauty for me. This book presents pictures that are breathtakingly beautiful. I remember as a teenager, walking with my girlfriends, lost in the Coastal mist, singing our hearts out. I was too young to appreciate the glorious visions that are there in my beautiful Oregon, just so abundantly available. When I go to the Oregon Coast,now, I just fall apart with emotion. Now more than ever, because my father is buried there, and he loved it SO much. When you look at the pictures of this book, remember my father, in his grave site on the cliffs, overlooking the beautiful sea. What a glorious final resting place. I dedicate this review to you, Dad. Thanks for showing me all the beauties of Oregon and our beautiful Pacific Coast. Barra (Remember our Oregon Coast song? I do!)

What can I say about the Duomo, Florence's Cathedral, Brunelleschi's magnificent dome and its spectacular bell tower that hasn't already been said. We really are pleased that we purchased Whitehot's Audio Guide - it was definitely money well spent. When we completed the tour we realized that the narrator did a fablous job of entertaining us while we were being educated.
