The book is smaller than I expected but wow...get inside and it is fabulous and very well organized. Anyone who loves trains and wants a guide for Arizona needs this first.

As someone who has haunted Paris for decades, I can say that there is no more wonderful companion than Thirza Vallois. Her three volumes of Around and About Paris, covering every arrondissement with both erudition and joy, are almost as deep and rich and rewarding as the city itself. They are to be carried about for consulting on foot, and read in your armchair for pleasure and information you will not find in the run-of-the-mill "guide." These books are for explorers and dreamers, scholars and lovers. If you want to know Paris, you can not do better.

We purchased this book from an art museum while on a driving trip. We used it all during out trip to make our stops a learning pleasure. It is amazing what wonderful art is out there in small museums. This book will be used whenever we plan a trip. If would be perfect for someone traveling in a motor home.

This book is a must for anyone who wants to know more about the "art" world, but doesn't know where to start. It has simple descriptions of all the main galleries in New York. So far I've only visited a few, but I'd have to say the author's descriptions were dead on. And it's pocket sized!

I rarely review books - but having just recieved this one as a gift - I felt it is worth giving a plug.

I'm Asian-American, love ethnic food of all types and have lived in San Francisco (yet another transplanted east coaster) for 15+ years.

Reading this guidebook gave me insight to a part of San Francisco where even I didn't have much awareness. I believe that 1/3 of the population is Asian - but from different parts of Asia - San Francisco Bay Area is extraordinarily unique. The only other places where I've seen a similar but different melting pot of Asian cultures is Singapore and NYC.

This guidebook covers food, shopping, nightlife, arts, theater and even alternative health care/fitness. It covers Chinese (Cantonese, Taiwanese, Shanghainese, etc.), Thai, Japanese, Philipino, Indian, Vietnamese, Afghan, Cambodian and a few others that I probably missed.

It truly is a cultural travel guide. My only complaint is that it is broad and not deep - but of course that's what lets the traveler and resident discover new treasures.

This book is just what I was looking for. My husband is a history buff and this will give us many hours of pleasure. Thank you for the great service

This book has not only outstanding photography of many locations throughout the world which are known for romance, history, and culture but also very good historical background information. It accomplishes all of this without being a history book. It is travel and the pleasure of exploring new worlds all at your fingertips! Enjoy it

This was a very good guide for anyone wanting to research Avoyelles Parish Louisiana! It is trully great! It contains a history of each of the towns and the people in them. The pictures are a testiment to the rich history and culture of our parish. A Must own book for anyone who has roots in Avoyelles or resides there now.

I have an earlier edition of this book and use it extensively when we travel. On it's own, it's packed with interesting information and trivia. I use it together with AAA guidebooks and find they complement each other nicely. I'm looking forward to getting the latest edition since we found on this last trip up to the redwoods that a few of the restaurants recommended have since changed hands.
