This is a 10-pack of "How We Got the Bible" pamphlets, the fascinating time line of how the Bible came about. Pastors and Sunday school teachers will find it a useful teaching tool. It (1) emphasizes the reliability of the Scriptures, (2) shows ancient writing materials, such as clay tablets, leather scrolls, and papyrus, (3) tells the exciting stories of people who made great sacrifices to translate the Bible into English, such as John Wycliffe, William Tyndale, and King James, and (4) features facts about the Septuagint, the Vulgate, the Wycliffe and Tyndale Bibles, the Geneva Bible, the King James Version Bible, the Revised Version, and more, and (5) explains the importance of the Dead Sea Scrolls, which testify to the accuracy of Bible transmission and translation throughout the centuries.
The pamphlet is 5.5" x 8.5" and unfolds out 12 panels to 33" long. It has color illustrations and photographs throughout.

It is common among sympathizers of the former Sandinista government in Nicaragua to attribute its fall to the influence of the United States through its economic embargo and proxy Contra war. Biondi-Morra shatters this myth, carefully outlining how the collapse of the Nicaraguan economy was driven, not by these outer influences, but by the supreme mismanagement of four key economic policy variables.

Biondi-Morra focuses specifically on food policy, and uses the development and evolution of Sandinista agrarian policy to highlight the choices facing the government in Managua, its development of policy, and the effectiveness of this policy as acted out at the local level. Indeed, Biondi-Morra's central thesis is that the failure of policy hinged on the gap between the macro formulation of policy and its micro implementation.

This is a scholarly work that grew out of the author's experience as a researcher at INCAE, the Central American Institute of Business Administration, where he spent four years at the Nicaraguan campus during the height of the Sandinista period. During his tenure there, he had unprecedented access to the highest levels of the Nicaraguan government (indeed, INCAE provided much of the higher-level training for that government) as well as to archives and files that, at the time, were open only to a select few.

The result is a study that is as dispassionate as it is damning; it is especially interesting that the Spanish-language version of this book includes praise from former high Sandinista officials, given its conclusions.

Those who cling to romantic notions of what the Sandinista government was or what it represented for Nicaragua will be challenged by this study, and the sheer depth of macroeconomic data and its analysis will overwhelm those who lack at least a basic orientation to policy analysis. Still, this is an impressive achievement and one which should shape any discussion as to "what happened" in Nicaragua during the 1980s.

This is a really neat book. I was surprised at how much information is packed into this book. It is easy to understand with lot's of pictures. It covers everything from Hunting stratagies, building hunting gear, building various animal traps, and recieps for cooking your game. I highly recomend this book for any outdoorsman / outdoorswoman!

This is, in my point of view, one of the most useful reference book on a the water quality modeling subject. This book covers almost all the important aspects of developing and applying advanced hydrodynamic and water quality modeling technologies, with well balanced materials on both theory and practical issues. One of the features I like the best of this book is that its describption of water quality modeling as well as its theorectical analysis of governing equations are focused on the advanced and widely applied modeling framework-EFDC, thus through reading this book, workers in this field will not only get quick access of the basic knowledge about water quality modeling, but also the clear guidance on applying the very useful EFDC modeling system.
I will be highly recommending that this book be used in a senior level or graduate environmental engineering classes as a reference book. As a modeler who has worked in the water quality modeling profession for more than 10 years, I feel that with this book, along with several other excelent reference books such as the Chapra or Thomman's surface water quality modeling book (for fundamental concept), and Lung's water quality modeling for TMDL book (for practical guidance on the art of modeling, rather than model itself), one would essentially has everything he need to succeed in realworld,high-end water quality modeling.

The author has made a great effort of presenting the subject matter in an easy to understand and read format. The text covers basic laboratory determination of hydrogeological paratmers to complex calculations and modeling. This book is great because there have been times when I have been working on a problem (effective poristy, density and saturation) and have been able to find an example of it in this book. The text covers one dimensional steady state flow, transient flow, flow nets etc.. Cooper Jacob method, drawdown, well efficiency and numeric groundwater flow modeling. I highly recommend this book. Full of alot of great information and examples/problem sets.

I used the library's copy from my university to write a paper about evaporation. I also had my employer purchase a copy for the office. It is really sound information and very helpful.

The information found in this series will engage childrenâ(tm)s curiosity and provide them with a sense of stewardship.

This volume defines the term hydrosphere and describes human uses and abuses of inland waterways, discussing the planet's fresh water and how people use it. Readers will find information about the water cycle, surface waters, surface water resources, and ground water and its use. Part two looks at pollutants that are introduced into fresh water, and part three traces the history of pollution in the Great Lakes. It also discusses clean-up options. Excellent background material is provided on each topic.

This thought-provoking book will make children and adults view our fragile planet in a new way. Written for students in grades 6 through 12, it could also be read by some elementary students. It would also be an excellent reference book for teachers. Teachers using differentiated instruction would find this book very useful.

My kid loves streetsweepers, its a nice book. He was 3 when I used to read this to him.

With the temperature the way it is today, anything from the icebox seems better than things that comes from the oven. Then when I started looking at the pictures of thing made with puddings, ice cream, cookies, cakes, pies, tarts, oh dear!

The basic rules here are: minimal cooking (sometimes a stovetop for a few minutes), easy to find ingredients (is there anywhere in the country, even the world, where you can't find Oreo cookies?), chocolate (mandatory, unfortunately addictive -- do you suppose the druggie cops will find out about this one?), some liqueurs (and wines and spirits, especially things like Grand Marnier), fresh fruits, frozen pound cake. etc.

The fun of cookbooks is taking their recipes and adjusting them to your own likes. Two days from now I'm taking the dessert to a dinner. Her Chestnut Mouse Charlotte with Chocolate-Orange Sauce looks to me like it will convert well into Pecan Mouse Charlotte with Chocolate-Orange Sauce and a layer of Coconut on top of everything else. Hmmmm! Maybe a little Grand Marnier on top of that.
