As a long-time professional trainer on import and export compliance, I found that this book was one of the best for introducing the complicated concepts of importing to individuals at all levels in an organization. It sets a positive tone for a conversation about the intricacies of importing.

An excellent primer for US commercial importers!

I have been involved with commercial importing into the US for more than 20 years. This introductory primer on US importing is intended to shed light on key US importing issues and to encourage the reader to delve more deeply into each of these topics. This publication is designed to answer the questions:
What don't I know about importing into the USA?
Why is it important?
What should my company do to prepare for importing?
The book addresses the following topic areas within six chapters.
1. Supplier Management - Working with Foreign Vendors
2. Determining the Price and Placing the Order - International Contracting and Purchase Orders
3. Paying the Price - Methods of Payment
4. Exporting & Shipping the Product - International Logistics
5. Importing into the USA Regulations & Formalities
6. Putting it Together - The Importing Organization
This book is an excellent executive summary as well as an introductory read for operations staff and business students.

This great book is filled with everything you'll need to know about the GED test. If you can pass the mini and pre - tests, you are ready for the GED test. If ever you have trouble with a subject, go into the table of contents and search out the unit or lesson for that subject. When you find it, you'll be able to quickly learn how to figure it out, and move on to the next obstacle. The lingo and pictures for each question are very easy to understand, and made to that you can pass THAT TEST! Good luck with your test! ~ Personal note: I passed the test with just a few weeks of studying these books. You can too!

Great Reference

I snagged a used copy back in early 2003 and I'm very glad that I did. It's still, to this day, one of my "go to" reference books.
The information is not limited to just those involved in recording. Anyone doing live sound or needing a basic understanding of acoustics or understanding the electronics will benefit, etc., etc.
It was a great find then and still is today. Very recommended!

Regrettably out of print for a number of years, this textbook is a must-have for both the aspiring and the experienced recording engineer. Although the technology is now somewhat dated (for example, there is a notable lack of information on digital audio). Others have tried to fill the gap this book left in the past 10 years - none have succeeded.

Find a copy, buy (or steal...) it and do not lend it to anyone!

Well done volume on one of America's little wars.

I've always been interested in the Spanish American War. It was the war that changed the course for this country from a small backwoods republic to a colonizing super power on the world stage. In one feel swoop the U.S. acquired Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Philippines, Hawaii, Wake Island and Guam. We made up for a late start in the game of colonialism by expanding the empire to encompass two oceans solidifing a strong presence and eventual control over both. Brassey's book, though hard to find, is well worth the effort. It covers the history sufficiently with informative text on the uniforms, equipment and weapons used by the major combatants. There is a fine concentration of period photographs, a few line drawings and contemporary color photographs of uniforms and equipment from museums and collectors. Also the beautiful and imaginative full color illustrations capture troops in the heat of battle or in relaxed off duty poses. Well worth the wait this, is a book that any '98 fan would be happy to own.

Definitive Study for its Period

This book covers more than just uniforms, it covers all the items carried or worn by the individual soldiers in this disease-ridden war. Congratulations to the author and the illustrator. This is a valuable compendium, of a size larger than octavo so that the plates are clear, and well constructed. I have been researching the U.S. arms, uniforms, and accoutrements of this period for some forty years now. It takes much more than a slew of pictures and a few gee whizzy captions to impress me. This work does--not only does it cover the details of the uniforms, it also covers the accoutrements and arms of the contending soldiers of both nations. I can vouch for the accuracy of the U.S. portion of the book. The detail shown herein on the Spanish forces, as far as I know, has not been readily available in English at all. Though I have not pursued detailed research on Spanish arms, clothing, and accoutrements, I have kept my eyes out for published materials, and I have not seen it. As much of the non-metallic materiel of this period was subject to hard usage in the field, and because the U.S. soldiers' clothing and equipments were burned for sanitary purposes upon the troops' return home, the cloth and leather of this period that actually saw service in campaign is extremely rare. What is now available is mostly web belts sold off as surplus and firearms and edged weapons the same.

Strategic MRO delivers a concise review of these challenges and the engineered processes that permanently reduce the costs associated with plant operations and MRO. This book should be required reading for all purchasing, plant maintenance, and engineering personnel."

Temptation and Light

Review Date: 2005-04-13
The twenty-five poems that comprise this chapbook glitter with a strange and compelling mixture of Catholic imagery and contemporary concerns. It's as if these poems were forged in some kind of hallucinatory limbo state, as they bear witness to human atrocities large and small yet still strive -- despite pain, suffering, and numbness -- for life and hope. The collection conveys a clear sense of what contemporary women are up against, from internalized pressures to be thin and perfect (often conveyed through memories of the speaker's mother) to external dangers ranging from banal domesticity to life-threatening violence. Glimmerings of faith are revealed, along with elements of an evolving life philosophy. In "The Evil Eye," for instance, the speaker, having chosen a protected spot for yoga class, observes:

"I have come here not to confess my sins / but rather because I no longer care what other / people think." I love this little book! It's got dark humor, a deep understanding of the complications and power of sex and of the various addictions and complications that accompany post traumatic stress disorders. Its finely attuned sense of loss (of family, friends, innocence) and of longing, of learning to forgive the unforgivable, is beautifully wrought. If you like Six Feet Under, you'll enjoy these poems.

Texas meets Detroit

This is a really good, deep collection, and she's truly amazing in person. The poems speak loud and clear and are beautiful and sad, too. The author is an awesome creative writing teacher at Macomb College and has the greatest Texas voice and style. Much of this comes through in her writing. Not only is her poetry great, but so are her short stories, which she's read from several times in class and on campus and throughout Metro Detroit. This poetry chapbook is a must read and she is a must see-and-hear person to believe! She's the real thing! I see her read every chance I get. Highly recommended.

It was fantastic, providing numerous examples of true concepts that dont make sense according to economic laws in the supply is truely not equal to demand. Infact, without the concept of demand, there would be no supply at all.
