Got this as a present, it's VERY good. Good survival tips, interesting projects.

I purchased this book while I lived in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and I loved it. Mr. McDougall's tips on survival kits are very practical (I now keep several of his mini safety and fire kits in my car, cabin and home.) His instructions for waterproofing leather boots are a snap and work just like he says, 'one treatment will last the life of the boot, or longer'. This book is clear, to the point, well written and a pleasure to read, with projects suitable to a wide range of ages.

The Magic Handbook is a bit short on how to present magic, but the effects presented are very good. Many principles used by professional magicians are provided here, and all can be made fairly simply with easy to find materials. Recommended.

This book is very inspiring, and has helped me do a lot of magic tricks. I use a lot of it's tricks when I preform, and no one has ever figured them out. It is an excellent book and I think that all kids who want to be magicians will love it. It is also good for parents who want to impress their kids, but don't know how to. All in all, I think this is an A+ book

I have a lot of books on this subject, but this is the easiest and most clearly written book for the beginning home recordist I have seen. Mitch knows his business and also how to teach. He includes all necessary technical terms but explains them through simple analogy. Its almost like having a personal tutor there to help you. He anticipates and provides soulutiions for common problems that may, and probably will, arise. The book is thorough in that he takes you from shopping for and buying the right equipment, to recording and burning your music CD and distributing it online.

This inexpensive book is one of the best small recording/music production information sources I have read. It covers many topics, with enough detail to give a firm understanding for the novice-intermediate home recording musician, while at the same time not overwhelming him/her. It is easy to read, well divided by topic and extremely affordable. It is also thin enough to pop into your laptop case. I'd highly recommend buying a copy to anyone confused by the ANY key concepts in recording or home music production. This is a MUST have. I work for a public school system, and this book would also make an excellent text for any teachers interested in adding recording/MIDI to their curriculum.BUY IT!

Frankly, I find it remarkable that Grichnik and Winkler can somehow provide so much valuable information and counsel within only 207 pages. With rare precision, eloquence, and (yes) brevity, they explain why the future of manufacturing is truly becoming a "make-or-break" proposition for many companies as their weaknesses are increasingly exposed. "At the same time, there are always great opportunities in challenging times." More specifically, as Grichnik and Winkler carefully explain, enlightened and determined leaders can help their companies to renew and revitalize themselves with an appropriate mix of "innovative manufacturing technology, flexible global footprints, deliberately redesigned manufacturing operating systems, and truly engaged manufacturing communities." When doing so, they will not simply make winning futures for their companies and their industries - they may change the world. "That, after all, is what manufacturers have done since the industrial revolution - indeed throughout human history."

This is an excellent as easily describes how to do ROM of all sorts of joints. A great book for a student and practitioner that needs to look up the more obscure joints. It has tables as well for normal ROM. You can't go wrong with this one.

I got an earlier edition of this book in Physical Therapy school and it was invaluable in teaching the finer points of goniometry. I constantly used it as a source of information, until I became comfortable with measuring joint range of motion. Since I am now working in the inpatient arena, I mostly repeatedly measure knees, but refer back to it when I need to brush up on another joint. It has clear pictures and overall is a great reference book for anyone who has to evaluate joint ranges of motion.

Randall writes from a wealth of experience in the outdoors and has even led parties up Mount McKinley. The book covers all the basics and is an excellent introduction to the sport of backpacking. I especially recommend it for the novice contemplating a backcountry hike. With proper preparation, backpacking and camping can be an enjoyable and even spiritual experience. Lack of preparation can end in death due to exposure or a costly search and rescue. Reading this book will help make your first wilderness experiences a success.

This booklet is one of the fundamentals in understanding how the US banking system works, published by the Chicago Federal Reserve. It describes how various forms of reserves are multiplied by the banking system to create additional money, as of its date of publication in the early 90's. Things have changed since then, specifically in terms of the system's average reserve ratio declining from 10% then to 5% today. It does not get into the current system's various reserve ratios required for different forms of deposits (such as the 0% reserve requirement for sweep account deposits). It does not describe how bank capital affects willingness to lend, and a number of other critical factors affecting the business cycle (often referred to as a 'natural phenomenon).

Although this booket is out of print, if you are lucky enough to have a copy of this booklet which at one time available through the Public Information Center of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, then you will have a very solid understanding of how the banking system works. The booklet describes the basic process of money creation in a "fractional reserve" banking system. It is very interesting to pay particular attention to pages 2 and 3, and the last paragraph of page 6. Since money is such a routine part of everyday life, its existence and acceptance ordinarily are taken for granted. In fact, when in reality 96% of the American population believes money comes into being either automatically as a result of economic activity or as an outgrowth of some government operation. But just how this happens all too often remains a mystery.

The first book I had was Piranhas by Barron's and it was a great book. I wanted to learn more about other fishes so I thought why not get Barron's, too? This book is for beginners and experienced home aquarists. The reason why I gave this book a five star is because it doesn't talk much about a specific fish like Discusfish. And that's good because it draws begginers the attention on thinking twice about keeping a fragile fish.

Unlike many of her peers, this author writes well. She covers the issues you need to consider in a smooth style that makes learning easy and logical. Lots of pictures of fish, and a very clear *DETAILED* review of fish species appropriate for aquariums. I appreciate the book's to-the-point style, avoiding the let's-make-the-book-as-fat-as-we-can approach.
