I really enjoyed this one. Some of the equipment choices are outdated but the techniques, philosophy and sense of joy are timeless. Great pictures, great distillation of common sense approach, knowledge and techniques. If this book doesn't give you the motivation to get out into the back country you aren't going.

This guide ot snowmobiling is geared for the younger crowd, but it's still a good introduction to using a snowmobile responsibly. As you can probably guess, the man who made the first commercially available snowmobile, Carl Eliason, lived in Wisconsin. It took a Canadian, Joseph-Armand Bombardier. to make the first snowmobile for recreational use.
This book gives information how the various parts of the snowmobile work and the skills you need to drive it responsibly.
There are many safety tips, such as preventing frostbite, as well as a granola recipe for you to make and take with you.
If you are planning to purchase a snowmobile and will be having a young person using it, I recommend this book highly.

Cute and memorable story about a campout in the backyard. What's that noise? Is it a scary monster? No, it's just grover's dog, etc. Lot's of fun concepts and words to talk about. "why is grover scared?" "Who could be making that noise" "Wow, is that really a dragon coming?" You can use lots of funny character voices anf high affect to bring the story to life, too. And the illustrations are sesame street cute!

Twins, Susan & Christine Pratt take jobs as counselors at a summer camp. When they find out that someone is out to destroy the camp they decide to investigate and end up switching places as well. This is one of the first times these girls switch places to solve crimes in the series. It is a great story filled with adventure, romance and fun. This is a great light-hearted mystery for younger kids.

(From the inside cover)Lavishly illustrated and lovingly written The Summer Camp Memory Book is a nostalgic evocation of everything summer camp was for thousands of campers all over America. Here is a pictorial and oral recreation of the entire summer camp experience: bunkmates, counselors, nature hikes, outdor meals, name tags, crafts, campfire songfests, canoe trips, the waterfront, and ofcourse, color wars. More than 300 photos, as well as drawings, newsletters, menus, ghost stories, letters home, and lyrics to ever popular campfire songs make The Summer Camp Memory Book the quintessential scrapbook campers were having too much fun to keep.I found the book to be a great memory jogger from the years I was a camper and the many years I was a staff member and camp director. The photos go back as far as the 1930s to more recent years showing all the experiences of camp life. If you are a former camper or staffer, I know that you will enjoy a trip back to those great days.

If you're looking for a big, generalized guide for viewing an assortment of summer opportunities for your child, this is the best guide available. However, I found "Early College Programs" to be a far superior guide for reviewing summer opportunities for my college-bound teen.

An important quick read for Christians

One of the problems found within the Christian circle today is that there is a detachment between Christianity today and Christianity as grounded in the First Century. This doesn't mean that the First Century church was "the" model for how churches could be and should be; simply because, if you look just at Acts, you would see that the church had as many highs as it had lows. And as the Jew/Gentile problem caused a greater widening between the people of Christ, the worse off the church became. The Gospel of reconciliation between God and man through Christ Jesus became, in a sense, if we take, say, the Letter to Romans as an example, a foundation for tug-of-war between the Jews and the Gentiles. Not that this wasn't an important problem that didn't need to be faced. In fact, it was something that both sides needed to realize and understand--again, as taking the Letter to Romans as an example of why Paul insisted on not only not giving up on the Jews, but also not ever giving up on the Gentiles. Hence the reason for the importance of books such as this, in today's world, in today's Christian society.
The Tabernacle is one of the most important and clearest pictures of not only God but God's everlasting Kingdom across time and space and matter. The Tabernacle shows, and very powerfully at that, just what (through imagery and foundation and ceremony) it takes to bind God and man together. In a sense, the Tabernacle was one of the most important pictures of what we, whether we are Gentile Christians today or Messianic Christians today, see as Jesus Christ. Just as you cannot have the New Testament without the Old, that is you cannot have the NT and then reject the OT, so too you cannot have Jesus Christ without using such metaphors and similes as found in the Tabernacle. Of course many Christians who willingly love the Bible and the Jewish people still have trouble in this day and age in reading the Torah, the foundation of the Bible--starting in Genesis and going all the way through the Gospels and from the Gospels to Revelation. We read about the colors, the size, the shape, the texture, and so many times we get lost. We need a guide. We need a helping hand when reading about this all-important Tabernacle as found in the OT. Thus this book.
Olford takes us step by step into the mystery and the beauty of the Tabernacle. The more we go into the Tabernacle, through Olford's help, the more we see and understand important Biblical truths such as God's might, God's rulership, God's creation, God's salvation, and God's judgment. Oldford explains colors, instruments, ways, reasons, and hows. So many of these would be lost if we were just trying, alone, to read the Old Testament's Torah. And yet...These are important principles that help us understand just how God has worked His way through human history from Creation to the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, to the one day return of Jesus Christ. This is a small book and a cheep book. An evening read sort of book that will help you through even the most laymen of studies of the Bible. Get this book. Read it. Enjoy it.
