This book leads you through E3d2 which is out of Macromedia's further development plans. But don't consider E3D2 to be a "dead" tool! E3D is probably the most intuitive 3D modeling package ever. It uses spline curves which are familiar to most 2D graphics users and builds on them to enter the world of 3D. Gary David Bouton writes the tutes in a logically sequential way and supplies a lot of files and resources on the disc to help readers take the ideas presented and develop them into their own ideas. The biggest problem was that the trial version of E3d2 did not always recognise the files on the disc. I complained and had a replacement disc within a week (and that's to Australia!). When I needed extra help I found the author to be a wonderful support via email.

Good intro to the works of Sarah Kane

I have no doubt in my mind, that Sarah Kane's influence will be compared to that of Beckett's, in about twenty or thirty years. Unfortunately, those of us in the United States have had little opportunity to see her works staged, as of yet. Nevertheless, Saunder's book provides a somewhat thorough overview of her works.
The book is divided into two parts. After a brief introduction, there is a discussion of each of her plays, and Saunders traces Kane's journey and development. Common themes are discussed, her movement toward stripping down language to the barest essentials, her reliance on image over the word, her destroying of the boundaries and limitations of theatrical structure, common characteristics of her characters, etc. Most of the time is spent on Blasted!, which I can understand, but I found the insight to be less in-depth on some of my favorite plays, including about a ten page discussion each for both Cleansed and Crave. It leaves one feeling that merely the surface has been scratched. However, new information was introduced, which did add to my enjoyment and understanding of the plays. The second half of the book includes a number of interviews with actors, directors, agents, and such, that had the opportunity to work directly with Kane. This section adds a different perspective from the first, and adds a much more personal approach that books of this sort are usually lacking.
Hopefully, this book will help direct some attention to Kane's work. It seems that we are the only country not invested in her works, and maybe this book will help de-mystify her for American audiences. Maybe this will help get her fellow playwrights some attention as well, such as Mark Ravenhill, Anthony Neilson, and David Greig. This book marks a positive step toward understanding the work of someone who innovated and challenged so much, that we will only fully comprehend her impact in the distant future. Its worth the read, and applause for Saunders for taking this crucial step.

I've always loved the dark humor Paranoia offered, even if as a game player I never get to play Paranoia (the rest of my group play non-fun games). The book is a joy to read and a good value if you'd like to see how gaming could work when your not consumed with game mechanics running your life.

Very nice and detailed maps. It helped me alot to get those hard to find keys and Mountain Dew cans. However, it did not cover the "pipe" track (not to be confused with "half pipe"). I found all 12 keys and 4 cans -- visit prima's website and find the Rush 2 page. I put up my guide explaining where they are.

I like this book because it's about skateboarding and it teaches you how to skateboard safely. It also tells the difference between street skateboarding and park skateboarding. There are others, but those are the two main types of skateboarding.

"A Steroidal Now We Are Six"

Exotic Soloman's Prayer demonstrates the maxim "you don't take a trip; the trip takes you". For privileged Christopher Devreau, his travels in mid 1950's east Africa transform him through chance, suffering, and wonder. The only child of a recently remarried mother gets swept along in the family's decision to emigrate from post war England to Kenya.

While most children are school bound, Chris safaris through the back country to avoid the Mau Mau uprising that precludes any settling down. Life revolves around self defence from flesh eating ants, big game, and political uncertainty. Teetering between the brutal experience at his first boarding school and an idyllic seaside interval before being sent back to England and school, even his exit from Eden involves danger: the flight he boards under the arm of a stewardess flames out an engine. They put down in the middle of the nowhere night for repairs.

Six-year-old eyes remind us of the powerlessness of childhood. Through constantly changing circumstances, Christopher tries to keep his footing. He looks about enough to allow the reader an appreciation of some vanished dynamics of the 1950's in authentic detail: of England's severing its colonial relationships, tensions between classes and races, and expecially the then-new glamor of the aviation industry.

Once home, the reckoning begins. How to reconcile an extraordinary set of experiences with the business of becoming normal? Schooling and the path to boarding school offer another set of difficulties and adventures. First in a trilogy featuring young Devreau.

A good guide for beginners to the exciting sport of sport climbing. Edward Voeller explores the basics for first time sport climbers with this well illustrated book. Advanced climbers will also benefit from some of the tips offered. The book is well balanced, taking you through "starting and kitting out" to climbing techniques.

This book reads quite well with examples from the authors own work. It complements the online version of the book. The authors provide working examples using XploRe a free software package for performing statistical languages.

There is an online version of the book with the example code for the XploRe software. The online book is free. I do not regret purchasing the paper book copy as it is easier to read.
