If you wonder what XO or Fine Champagne stands for this book is for you. The Cognac Companion provides helpful information on how to read Cognac labels, what glassware to use, and if your favorite Cognac house accepts visitors. The Cognac house listing is a great way to expand your knowledge beyond what you might find in your local retailer. I would recommend this book to the casual consumer as well as the connoisseur.

The Tudors is a wonderfully written book. Instead of focusing on mundane little details about each monarch's personal life, this book focuses on what each one did while ruling England. This is a great book for those who want an overview of the Tudor dynasty, and would make an excellent textbook for a course on Tudor history.

Richard Rex is Director of Studies at Queens' College in Cambridge and the author of numerous papers on Tudor England, so his introduction THE TUDORS comes from a richly researched background, making it a `must' for in-depth English history collections at the college level. The public and private lives of the Tudors of England's `golden age' are examined in a guide which considers how dukes and kings influenced one of the greatest ages in English history.

This book presents a charming look at some important historical dollhouses in the Rockefeller Folk Art Center. Good pictures and texts. Not useful if you are looking for realistic projects for your own dollhouse crafting hobby, but for the historian, this is a wonderful look at historical dolls, dollhouses, and furnishings that were used over generations as toys and learning devices for girls. For extravagant historical dollhouse rooms created by and for an adult collector (that you would perhaps want to emulate in your own hobby), see another book, Miniature Rooms, about the Thorne Rooms at the Art Institute of Chicago.

I consider this book to be one of the best dollhouse references out there. Every page has color photos. Many of the furniture pieces are photographed individually. Each photograph is clear and detailed. The author is careful to note when a piece is original, antique, or modern. Everything in this book is well-researched and documented. You could carve replica furniture pieces from the photographs in here, they are that good!
Needless to say, the houses featured in here are gorgeous in their own right. My favorite part of this book are the great photos of the Grodnertal peg-wooden dolls. This book contains some of the best Grodnertal photos I've ever seen!

This book caters for those mini-fans who enjoy authentic finishes and offers many easy to cut plans for counters, sneeze-tops, display units etc. It is categorised into many inspiring sections such as the basics to start with (tools, materials, techniques, lighting and resources) and then proceeds to 5 superb projects - An Edwardian toy shop, Victorian Ironmongers, Art Deco tea room, Victorian bookseller and 1930 Grocer. Do not think that this is only for this time period - there is so much inspiration! Many woodwork items can be used in a modern bookshop/grocer for example. Plans are included for each "shop" with background info to ensure authenticity. How to cut the pieces, assemble them and finish the shop are all included. Load. Its one of my favourite books & well worth the cost.

This book saved my butt. We had a downsizing at my company, and I needed to learn more on creating SolidWorks drawings fast. With no money for training, I needed a source of knowledge. I found it.
My company switched over from 2007 to 2008 this year and my experience with drawings is limited. I've been using SolidWorks for approximately two years; focusing on 3D parts and assemblies. The book provides great sections on document properties, drawing templates, addressing ASME Y14 standards, custom properties, link to properties, notes, driven dimensions, centermarks, arc conditions, centerlines, sheet formats, view palette, DimXpert and so on. DimXpert is a great tool to go directly for part - to - drawing with embedded feature dimensions, feature control frames, datums, geometric tolerancing, etc. Note: DimXpert is new, be careful on using it for complex surface parts. I had some issues.
The book addresses: Standard views, Isometric view, Section view, Detail view, Crop view, Projected view, Exploded view will balloons, Broken view, with BOMs, editing BOMs, revision tables, adding revisions etc.
It also covers in manual detail: surface finishes, weld symbols, geometric tolerancing, feature control frames, etc. Indeed, an in-depth book on SolidWorks drawings.

This excellent text will be useful to any user who is concern or needs a book targeted on drawing and detailing information using SolidWorks. It covers many of the relevant commands, features, tools and does it in a clear and methodical fashion for parts and simple and complex assemblies.
The breadth and depth of the author's information in this book is outstanding. The book covers: surface finishes, weld symbols, control frames, geometric tolerancing, all of the available drawings views, revisions and BOMs along with blocks, notes, importing AutoCad files, system and custom properties, document properties, etc. This is the best book on SolidWorks for drawing and detailing that I've even seen or used in my last six years.

This is a marvel of engineering that will keep your child (and you) busy for hours and hours. There is such possibility for using your imagination here that it's one of the biggest bargains you'll get from a book of cut-outs - ever! I wasn't surprised that it won awards. I wish I could give it an award, myself. This is just what I've come to expect from DK Publishing!
Your girl will really feel that she has stepped back into another era in her very own house filled with Georgian furnishings. Playing with this toy will create great memories! Dream House is just all so feminine and pretty, you won't be able to resist.

My three-year old daughter loves pop-up books, especially those featuring dollhouses [fairies, princesses etc], and this two-story Georgian house is truly a paper engineering marvel!
The book opens to reveal the house with actual lights, a formal dining room, a ballroom, balcony, courtyards etc. There are also some paper furniture that need assembling. Though there is no doll [the character's name here is Mary Beth], any paper doll can be substituted or any other doll for that matter - there are lots of opportunities for creative and imaginative play here that is sure to enthrall and engage young children, and maybe older ones too!

Mick Walker has been into Ducatis for as long as I can remember. He had a dealership in the 60s and 70s, as well as being involved in the racing side. Now Mick and his brother Rick spend their time giving advise and supplying those hard to get parts at reasonable cost from Wisbech, Cambridge UK. Yes he is still at it. This book (I borrowed a copy) is a very comprehensive reference guide. It is not a workshop manual, it is a history book and a technical book in one. Chapters on various cycle parts, electrics, engine, carburation etc. Hints and tips abound ( did you know that there are 3 different types of Lucas Rita I did not - I bought the wrong one ). There is a half page devoted to petrol taps (petrol cocks) for example. This is a very comprehensive guide for anyone with a bevel twin it has an abundance of photographs (B/W) and much technical data. Excellent bedtime reading from a leading authority on things Ducati, Buy it,read it, and then keep it by your bedside .

This is the book to have when you either need to check on the authenticity of a Ducati "bevel drive" twin cylinder motorbike or wish to restore one. (If the latter, and you wish to do it properly, bring mucho lire.) For such low production numbers, it's surprising how many variations of gadgets Ducati used to build these beasts. If you wish to make certain that your bike has all the proper bits for its serial number, you'll need this book. Incidentally, though Mick Walker writes (lots of) good books about motorcycles in general and Ducatis in particular, this book by Mr. Falloon is both more thorough and detailed than Mick's books on the same subject. I would compare this book in quality and utility to the excellent "Original..." books intended to carefully document collectable automobiles -- except that the photos aren't as lush.

Anyone interested in modeling economic time series should read this book! Hendry presents a very good analysis of estimation, inference, and modeling. What is most important, he gives various examples. This is surely a classic in LSE econometrics and it helps a lot in a Macroeconometric course.
