I have enjoyed the art of folding for many years and I have to admit that this is without a doubt the best instructional book I own. It has incredible detail and the finished models are strickingly realistic! I have had to reccomend this one to my friends and I am looking forward to seeing more from this talented artist in the future...well done indeed!

I highly suggest adding this one to your collection!
The author has provided what appear to be accurate models of eighteen different fighter aircraft. There is quite a bit of detail in the models and the finished products are very impressive.
This book does use some fairly advanced folding techniques, but the first 20 or so pages give sufficient instruction to allow patient beginners to figure out the models.

I found this book and its counterpart to be great reads. Full of rich stories and great photographs, there is not much else you can expect. I definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in aviation history and to anyone interested in World War II aviation history specifically. The book marks the heroism and courage of th bomber crews over the Third Reich. Well worth the money spent.

This excellent book by Osprey Aviation details the beginnings of the B-17 units of the U. S. Eighth Air Force in England during World War 2 until the war's end. Liberally illustrated with photos, line drawings, and paintings, it also provides a partial Bomb Group Assignment chart, numerous personal anecdotes, and follows the careers of many celebrated fortresses.
A nice section on nose art examples rounds out a worthy tribute to this fine aircraft and the men that flew in it.

Aimee Bratt's book is one of the most entertaining I have read in many years. All of us go to the movies and would love to see ourselves on the big screen - even just walking across the set for 2 seconds.
Ms. Bratt brings us into the world of film extras in a book that's full of fun and information. This book is great for yourself and as a gift.

Ms. Bratt does it again. Background Player is fascinating and engaging. Watching movies is a richer experience after reading her account of life as a bit player. Ms. Bratt pays tribute to all those extras whose names we don't know but who are vital to the movie industry. The well-chosen photographs illustrate the author's delightful narrative. This is a truly enchanting tale. I look forward to Ms. Bratt's next book.

I've had this book for years and look at it often. the European dolls pictured are not seen in most other guides . I wish some of the photos were better and that the color was more true to life in them but I can't fault her research or her doll knowledge. I don't know this author like I do Jim or Michael or Joe so this is a legit review and not done out of kindness but the guys i mentioned are top notch too and don't need friendship reviews either

There's not a lot of printed information in this book, it's mostly pictures, but I absolutely LOVE this book. The pictures are great, & they come in handy if you need something to refer to, say for auction information (buying or selling). I highly recommend this book if it's pictures of vintage items you're after, you won't be disappointed!

I believe that this book will be the one people will turn to to get valuable info. on the Barclay Transports & Cars. It must have taken the authors years to compile all the information in this book . If you collect Barclay's then this is a must have book .
The book starts you off with a brief history of the Barclay Manufacturing Co. and as the book progreses through the pages it gives up more and more detail of every known Transport and Car . The book is very well layed out with it's easy to understand no. system . For easy reference it has lots of color pictures to refer to .
Thank goodiness we have people who are wiling to do the work involved to compile such a book and get it to this high level .

I found this book highly detailed and very very informative. The authors not only did an excellent job of clearly explaining the differences between the 4 basic styles but showed all the many many colors , shades and tints .I especially liked and found interesting, all the little notes and stories of the background of how and why some of these changes came about. The high quality paper and clear photos make the pictures jump out at you right off the page. The photo effectiveness really shines thru, when it came to showing all the various tints and shades of the same color. The pictures were not only close and clear but very vivid. I especially liked the authors simple, straight forward and very effective way that they cataloged these various changes. This easy, open ended system, allows more additions to be included later when they are found. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK. Kudos to the authors, for taking, what had to be a huge amount of man hours to bring this much needed book to the next level . I predict this will be the Barclay " bible " for identifying the small Transports.

Lawrence Hansen compiles The Basics Of Scale Modeling, a step-by-step photo guide to scale modeling for bare-bones beginners. The best models are tiny museum-quality replicas of the real thing: the art lies in capturing the element of realism of the real thing, and it's an art presented by The Basics Of Scale Modeling's techniques culled from FineScale Modeler magazine articles covering the basics. From setting up the initial work area and assembling the tools to planning a project for smooth success, this is a 'must' for any who would start on their first scale model.

A really good way to master Dinamic linear models

Review Date: 2001-05-21
As a reader with an economical background, mathematical texts are usually hard to be followed. Nevertheless, dinamic models through bayesian forecasting are afordable with this book. Introductory chapters on the bayesian learning algorithm and univariate models rough out the kernel of the issue. Once you dive into the following more complicated chapters you can get lost but the main idea is got. To avoid getting lost, several readings are necessary. Finally, last chapters for non linear models, models with exponential distributions and MCMC methods are really heavy going but a light reading can allow you to get a general overview.
All in all, is a great workbook. The main drawback may be the lack of more practical examples to illustrate the theoretical concepts.
time series using the Bayesian approach

Review Date: 2008-05-31
A Bayesian approach is a natural way to deal with time series data. You construct a model based on past data and prior information and use the model to predict future values in the series. When the new observations come in the model can be updated (model parameters reestimated) and forecasts can be updated. Most of the time series literature deals with the classical (frequentist) approach incluing the well-known book by Box and Jenkins on forecasting and control. This book provides a mathematically rigorous treament of time series modeling based on a Bayesian approach. Many common forecasting procedures including the Kalman filter are iterative algorithms that could be derived as solutions for forecasting based on a Bayesian model of the time series.

This is an excellent book for the beginner or first time model ship builder. It contains detail plans with dimensioned drawings for two simple projects. It contains step-by-step instructions to ensure the beginner will be successful with their first project. The second project provides directions for making a modern sloop rig. Many sailors may be interested in how to model their own boat or a friend's boat.

The required math knowledge to truly understand game theory is rather intense, and this book will allow one to put their knowledge to the test. However, the book also enables readers with limited math skills to appreciate and conceptually understand what behavioral game theory is, how it works, and the implications it has on future research in the strategic/behavioral theory camps.

This book is an extremely well organized presentation of key theories and evidence in behavioral game theory, a subset of topics from the field of behavioral economics. I have often assigned chapters 1 and 2 in behavioral economics classes at Harvard and Duke, and recommended other chapters to students who want to learn about Learning theory. (I would cheerfully assign the other chapters if I happened to be covering those topics, but there's only so much you can squeeze into a 1-semester undergraduate course!)
The book has many strengths. First, Camerer is one of the Very Important Scholars in behavioral economics, and there are less than a handful of people (Matt Rabin) who could conceivably be argued to be more authoritative on the subject matter. Second, Camerer makes extraordinarily good use of summary tables, explicit sections/subsections/subsubsections, summary paragraphs, and the like to help the reader keep track of the details, and to quickly locate the particular details of interest. Third, the introductory chapter offers a wonderful and intuitive introduction to the field; I have often started the first class of a new semester by reproducing the experiments in the chapter as classroom demonstrations. Fourth, the appendices to the introduction offer a good overview of economics experiments and of game theory (no substitute for a full textbook on game theory, of course, but a good refresher, and enough to get the bare bones of the subject). I expect the reader will quickly find many other reasons to admire this book.
This is NOT a book for a casual read by a non-economist. It's a textbook, or a handbook for economists and other people with a reasonable mathematical background who want to see, in one place, the most important results in behavioral game theory (as of a few years ago). It's also designed to present scholarly research, which means the reader should be prepared for the scholar's willingness to leave a lot of loose ends lying around and NOT to claim to know the definitive answers to the questions.
If you are a lay person looking for a behavioral economics book for the general audience, you should probably look to Richard Thaler and Cass Sunstein's Nudge or Dan Ariely's Predictably Irrational. All three of those authors are first-tier scholars and major contributors to the literature in their own right, and those books are written with a non-specialist audience in mind.
