My 4 and 6 year old love this book. We checked it out at the library so many times, we finally decided we needed to add it to our collection. Humorous and interesting enough so that the parents don't mind reading it a million times.

This is a great book for boys or girls. It is funny, smart and very engaging for kids. Plus the illustrations are beautiful. This is a great gift for any child 2 and up. Don't limit yourself to non-readers or early readers - this book (and any beautifully illustrated and written picture book) is a wonderful addition to the library of any primary-school aged child.
Worth it for the wardrobe alone!

This book was recommended to me by a fellow mom of boys. My son (age 4) enjoys this book, and we parents get a kick out of the more subtle humor that goes over the heads of preschoolers.

I have put the principles of "Traction" into place in my business and now focus on the activity that earns us the most income. I use to be everything to everybody and spent too much time earning too little for too much activity. This book is a must read for all business owners!

This is my 3rd start-up company and it is off to the best start. We are exceeding our projections and we know it is because of we are executing the EOS Process. From vision to project accountability, the system is both simple and comprehensive.
Much of my career has been spent in consulting so I have had the privilege to see how a number of companies are run. I have not seen a more effective operating system than EOS. Traction provides the details you need to implement the process. It's not just concept and theory - it provides instruction that allows you to use the process. I recommend Traction & the EOS Process wholeheartedly.

This well-written and well-illustrated book will be of value to anyone who is interested in automobile technology and style, the history of an important auto firm, or who is simply a francophile. The TA, which originated in the 1930s and was produced into the 1950s, was an amazing vehicle that combined numerous technologies that only in later years became widespread practice on autos of all types and prices. This book may not be for everyone, but if you fit into one of the categories mentioned above, you will find it entertaining and rewarding.

Although rarely seen on American roads, the Citroen "Traction Avant" of the years 1934 to 1957 is one of the most fascinating cars ever built. It is truly a milestone automobile, combining (in it's day) unheard of features such as front wheel drive, rack and pinion steering, torsion bar suspension and all steel unitized body construction. Jon Pressnell's book gives a very good overview of the vehicle models produced, the history behind their development, and the "Traction's" role in French culture. This book is well illustrated with period b&w and modern color photos. A worthwhile book for vintage car enthusiasts and francophiles.

Just picked up the paperback edition at the cable car museum in San Francisco, and loving it. Everything you've never dreamed of asking about cable cars is present in these 484 pages. Despite billing itself as a 'treatise', Hilton's prose is lively and readable. (Of a flimsy trestle bridge built for the Spokane Cable Railway, he writes: "The structure, which was widely expected to collapse, surprised the local population by burning instead.") Hundreds of photos and diagrams, really a delightful book to take a dip into. Any transport buff or engineer would love it...
The best book about cable cars.

George Hilton's book is the most thorough study of the technology and the history of cable cars ever written. I am happy that it is available again; this book taught me that cable cars existed in many places besides San Francisco.

Patrick Ertel (also of Antique Power magazine fame) does a excellent job covering the various brands, uses, and history of steam traction engines. He also gives excellent descriptions of how a steam engine works, and there controls and parts. A excellent overall book!

This is one of the best-produced railroad books I have ever seen. It is more than a history, it is a tour through a vibrant community during the 20's and 30's, with numerous photos, maps, and details that bring the cities to life.
Stockton and Sacramento may not be New York or Boston during the 20's to 50's, but understanding what was going on in the cities of their sizes--economically, architecturally, and transportation-wise--is important to an understanding of the era.
Central California Traction is painstakingly laid out, the photographs are perfectly scanned, and the format is large enough to do justice to the numerous photos.
Unlike the sterile "builders shots" frequently found, the photos in Central California Traction include the environment--buildings and street scenes--as well as people.
I consider this one of the top railroad books in my collection--which has been growing since the 60's. It's a "must have" for model railroaders looking for "real world" inspiration, and will delight those who love Northern California history.

I've had this book for a couple of years now but I'm just getting around to reviewing it. While I'm not a doctor and much of the book can be over your head in some ways as a layperson, I still found the book to be extremely valuable and is my bible in jaw distraction. My daughter has a facial syndrome and has had three jaw distractions already, with more to go and I recognize many of the great doctors and their devices in the book. I even passed the book around to several of her doctors who found aspects of it fascinating even though they may have known already about jaw distraction. The downside of the book is that while it is packed with information, it's much like a computer; it's mostly passe by the time it gets published because jaw distraction has gone on to bigger and better things. I would love to see the follow-up book to this one even if it will be passe once published!

Who would have thought that old smoke-belching workhorse machines could be a thing of beauty. Yet, there is something strangely beautiful about these old machines, and the photos and text in this book capture this nicely, both at work and at shows.
These mighty machines formed the backbone of rural America; featured in this book are machines built by Advance-Rumley and Gaar Scott, Avery, Buffalo-Pitts, J.I. Case, Hart-Parr, International, Minneapolis Threshing, and Pioneer, along with a few other manufacturers. Most of these machines run on steam, but several examples that run on kerosene are also included. The second chapter highlights special components, both mechanical and structural, while the third and fourth chapters chronicle the specific duties for which these tractors and engines are used and the special equipment they drive. The final chapter is on special shows, often showing these mighty machines dueling one another.
This book is a fine tribute to the machines that "helped tame the Midwest."

The book provided the most comprehensive history of massage I have ever seen. I'm sure 99% of massage therapy teachers don't have this information. The technique descriptions were sophisticated. Unfortunately this book was written in 1960 and many diagnoses have different meanings today so it is not always clear whether the writer is "speaking our language."
