This book is hard to obtain, but very helpful in separating the culturally acceptable from the wise practice of parenting teens. Don't turn them loose too early, don't go with the flow, don't just hope for the best, do the best job of parenting possible. They strongly encourage courting, not dating so as to avoid repeatedly giving your heart away only to have it returned to you in less pristine condition. Teens, recognize that your parents love you even when your hair isn't combed and your clothes not the latest look. Would your friends do that? Worth the read, but challenges to a higher level of living than many may be willing to do.

An outstanding book! If you are a parent of a teenager, have children who will soon enter the teenage years, or for anyone who is or will be working with youth/young adults-- this book is a MUST READ! Don't miss this opportunity to "walk with the wise". The teenage years come and go too fast, and this book will help you build an emotionally healthy, loving relationship with that young person you care about.

I'm a bit surprised to see that Dover chose the 1925 Montgomery Ward catalog to reprint, as they also did the 1923 Gordon Van Tine catalog and these companies were closely linked.

In fact, unlike Sears, Montgomery Ward did not have their own mills, lumber yards, architectural staff, designers, etc., so they turned to Gordon Van Tine (based in Davenport, Iowa) to supply their homes. In other words, when you placed an order for a cute little kit home from Montgomery Ward, they placed the order with Gordon Van Tine.

When your house arrived (in about 30,000 pieces, via boxcar), the shipping labels would read "Montgomery Ward" and the kit would have (probably) shipped from the GVT mill in Davenport.

If you have both catalogs (GVT and MW) compare them side by side and you'll see that they're virtually identical, with names and identifying marks changed in all the right places.

That being said, this is a dandy little catalog and if you suspect you have a kit home from Montgomery Ward, you may also want to invest in the GVT (1923) catalog that Dover offers.

Yes, I'm partial to Stickley's designs, but these are the four-squares and bungalows I see more of on both coasts.
If you own a bungalow, four-square, Colonial, or cottage of this period and would like to restore some of its original character, this is a good reference book.
The exterior views include details such as landscaping.
Interior photos, meant to highlight the choices in millwork and such, give a taste of the fashions in decorating.
Toward the end of the book are plans for beach cottages and garages that might inspire a humble retreat or workshop, or perhaps a playhouse or doghouse.
The final pages are ads for the kinds of light fixtures and plumbing fixtures your grandparents likely got rid of in past updates of their houses, and furnaces such as the hulking monster that remained in the basement of a house I rented in Bristol.
Whether you get practical use from this book or not, you will probably enjoy it.

I have worked and socialized with many doctors who I thought were well off when it came to retirement savings. When they approached 60 to 65 years old, they couldn't afford to retire and maintain the lifestyle they wanted. How sad! I don't want to end up that way.

I've been searching for a book such as this for quite some time. I purchased this book as source material for 3D modeling, and all the hand drawn illustrations are simply amazing! Many interior, exterior and close-up shots of Japanese architecture. Several floor plans and isometric views of various homes and temples.

Having only recieved my book the day before, I have not had a chance to read it from cover to cover, but what I have read was informative and well written. While you may not be able to build your very own "to code" Japanese home with this book, as a source of information and inspiration, it's a tremendous book!

This is a good guide to Japanse architecture and it's styles. It contains many illustrations, and is a detailed description on types of Traditional Japanese architecture.

This is the world's first book ever written on airline business pland development. The author outlines the true "elements" of an airline business plan versus the generic business plan. Anyone interested in starting a big or small company, airline or otherwise, must have this book. Every airline, airport, air cargo operator, consultant, entrepreneur, investor, and enthusiast must have this reference on hand. Excellent work!

I work in the airline business and was delighted to find a book that focuses on the fundamentals of airline strategic business plan development. The book captures the unique elements of airline business including the airline business environment, schedule, network and fleet planning, cost management and reduction and airline business models.

The book is well written in an easy to follow and understand format that should make it accessible to the various stakeholders of the air transport business. This is a must read book for all managers in airlines.

I bought this book for a grieving friend, but I'll also admit I was very curious about it myself. I really enjoyed this book. Even though the headlines say this book is not available, I found it quite easy. It is also in the public library for those who want to read it. It is truly a wonderful read. I bought three copies so that I could pass it on to my friends. There are some original, unedited copies out there too. I like those the best. It shows the original book. Ella Patterson hit it right on the head for men.

I like the contents of this book. It has helped me understand my mate better. I've learned that women truly want more passion and romance instead of sex. My hygiene was an issue with some women and this book gave me insight on how to combat body odor and create better sexual ethics. This book opened the door for me to make small but important changes in my attitude in and out of the bedroom.
