Thank you so much for giving me a preview edition of your new book. What an invaluable asset this will be to anyone struggling through the house hunting/ house building process.
You have coordinated all the services the consumer needs, giving order and structure to an often daunting task.
As a Realtor in Columbia County, where people are often looking for a comfortable second home in territory unfamiliar to them, I, personally, will be better able to serve the public with my new Real Estate "Bible" in hand.
Thanks again. With my best wishes and congratulations,

"Good House Hunting" - A great help to me and my customers!

I've come to realize over the 12 years of selling real estate what an emotional experience looking for one's dream home is, even for those who own several homes. For many people, it makes a statement to family and friends about who they are. Some people get so caught up in the fantasy of finding the "perfect home" that they never buy anything. This is especially true in a rural area where the inventory is limited, lacking charm and "soul" and where most of what gets sold ends up going through extensive renovations.
"Good House Hunting" is a methodical guide to identifying housing traits and property features which, once renovated, will allow you to end up in your "dream home". Dennis Wedlick has given you the map to follow to get you to that place. Through customers' reflections of how they live and what specific features are important to them, Dennis works to help them realize their dream home embodying spirit, soul and sentiment.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this book. It will be a great help to me and to my customers!

Green Plans outlines how to do integrated planning.

Green Plans is not a book about how bad things are today; it is a book about how good things can be tomorrow. It lays out the global environmental problems (and there are a lot of them) in a brutally honest manner, but it does not dwell on them. Instead, it focuses on what is being done, and what must be done on a global and national scale to alleviate our ecological dilemmas. Green Plans is about solutions, and although these solutions are at a national scale, the implementation must be done on an individual level. Herein lies the strength of Green Plans. Johnson writes with a contagious enthusiasm which leaves the reader with the knowledge and desire to help make a difference. Green Plans is a must read not only for planners and government officials but also for business leaders, environmentalists, and concerned citizens alike.

Green Plans are comprehensive, integrated and large-scale national environmental strategies. H. J. Johnson shows us what Green Plans are and what they are not. His examples of pioneering countries, The Netherlands, New Zealand and Canada are very convincing. He shows how those very different countries have developed innovative Green Plans, how they translated the concept of sustainability in practical strategies and action plans. His personal experience, as head of California's Resources Agency, from 1977 to 1982, in developing a comprehensive resource strategy, called Investing For Prosperity (IFP) gave him a basic understanding of Green Plans. He gives us a very good overall view of Green Plans, their ingredients for success, their principles and techniques and the new relationship needed between government and business. His clear vision for the United States should be read by all politicians and concerned citizens. It is still very actual. Of the many books published in environmental protection and sustainable development, this book should be on all bookshelves. And it is a real pleasure to read.

I bought this book for my fiance after we got engaged since he really didn't have a clue what this whole wedding planning thing is about. It's one of the few groom's guide books that actually written by a man (which I think is very important) and comes with lots of helpful information told in a humorous a light hearted way. He absolutely loves this book! (and so do I because it makes him feel more involved)
Useful AND entertaining!

This is a must for any groom! It covers everything a guy needs to know about getting married, from buying an engagement ring to planning the honeymoon to having a perfect bachelor party. It's very thorough and useful, but it's also written with a great sense of humor, which makes it an entertaining read. Ladies, this would make an ideal gift for your husbands-to-be!

As a career consultant, I find myself responding to questions about the ultimate getaway: finding a new job (and maybe a new life) overseas. It sounds so romantic...till you get into the nitty-gritty of paperwork, taxes and health care.
This guide gets 5 stars simply because it does what it promises: offers a straightforward guide to those who are considering a move but have no place to begin. However, I would recommend (a) reading multiple guides and (b) talking to folks who have been there. Try to find someone who's been in your situation. A 60+ retiree won't benefit from talking to a twenty-something; a single person needs to understand how a culture interprets her lifestyle.
I spent a few years in Canada on a "landed immigrant" visa (equivalent to a green card) as a business school professor. It's been awhile, but I would say the info here seems accurate and balanced. The author assumes her readers will be concerned about safety and health care. Your beliefs, values, and interpretation of events will influence your own priorities.
But for a starting point, you could do a lot worse.

I bought this for use in a high school classroom setting. Every day is laid out, there are quizzes and tests and other worksheets provided. Even a crossword puzzle for those days when you have 20 minutes to kill or want to give the students a fun review activity. You can't beat the price if you compare how long you would sit at the computer creating it by yourself. I highly recommend all of Teacher's Pet Publications.

It is hard to know what you're getting just from the explanation on this site but I bought the CD anyway. I am ever so glad I did because this is going to be so helpful for both myself and my students. Whether you're teaching a full month or only a week on "Hamlet", this guide gives you invaluable tools. And the ages of your students shouldn't matter because there is something on this CD to fit every level. If you're pressed for time like I am, the lesson plans, quizzes, etc. will help. It's an extraordinary deal for such a low price and I urge everyone to try a copy!

Although I had never heard of this author or publisher, I took a chance and cannot be more excited about the quality of materials! There is everything in this book! From a simple biography plus reading questions about Shakespeare, an Anticipation/Reaction guide (which the kids loved!), literary terms to know (and their definitions), lessons on iambic pentameter and the sonnet form, a (doable) vocabulary list, scene guides for tracking the action and plot of the play, focus activities for each act, vocabulary exercises, test preparation, quizzes for each act (including vocabulary quizzes!), a final test, a summary of the play act by act, and pre-reading and post-reading activities! This is by far the most valuable guide I have ever seen for teaching high school students the complicated and often intimidating world of Shakespeare. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I cannot express enough how valuable this literature guide is. I have been teaching for over ten years now, and I have NEVER found a piece of gold like this! Whether you are a new teacher or an experienced pro, you want to have a life. This guide has everything I need to teach Hamlet--and more. Mrs. Bowers has done all the work for me. It begins with an author biography and questions to go along with the biography, pre-reading activities to choose from, vocabulary list (in bite-size pieces!), "Standards Focus" activities which specifically focus on the content standards for 11th and 12th grade. It then has vocabulary activities, fun activities to review the vocab, quizzes, a test, and other ideas for testing. With all this, I can sit back and acutally teach for a change.

This book was sent to me by a friend who had found it helpful and thought I could use its lessons during a down period in my life. My friend's life story is so full of disasters, unlikely events, awful coincidences, and physical and emotional upheavals that it would make any writer of soap operas blush to use it as a plot thread. Still, she has this quote from Abraham Lincoln on her email "stationery": "Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be."
This book can help you be that strong.

Japan's "Bridge Too Far"

. Equipped with Japanese language skills and academic experience in Japan, Dr. Stephan conducted exhaustive research into military and civilian sources in order to develop the full story of Japan's designs upon Hawaii in the early stages of WWII. His book reveals a serious intent to actually invade and occupy the islands, primarily to deny the U.S. Navy its natural springboard for challenging Japanese advances in the Pacific. The kicker in that regard was the Doolittle Raid in April 1942, which convinced the Japanese Army that Hawaii was a threat that had to be neutralized.
. A secondary goal was to liberate the "Asian" poplace of Hawaii (which to Imperial Japan was everyone there except Caucasians) and bring them into their Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere. Some Japanese even advocated annexing Hawaii outright, as a natural extension of their own island nation.
. One surprise to this reviewer was learning the extent to which many of Hawaii's ethnic Japanese citizens directly participated in the mother country's war, at least before Pearl Harbor. Many served in the Imperial armed forces (i.e., in China) and others returned to Japan before Pearl Harbor to support the war through academic or jounalistic pursuits. There is no suggestion, though, that Japanese-Americans in Hawaii (after Pearl Harbor) engaged in any such activities.
. The book also reveals that a Japanese attempt to take and hold Hawaii was most likely doomed to failure; a potential calamity on a grand scale. By late 1942 (the proposed time frame for the invasion) U.S. forces on Oahu alone were far superior, at least in numbers, to the proposed Japanese invasion force. Ghastly attrition of invasion troops would have been unavoidable, even if the campaign was ultimately successful. And once in control of Hawaii, Japan clearly didn't have the logistic capacity to sustain themselves there--there's no way their merchant marine could have replaced the necessary constant flow of supplies coming from the U.S. Both conquerers and conquered would have faced cruel deprivation in a few short months.
. Clearly, Hawaii would have been Japan's "Bridge Too Far." Everyone--Japanese, Hawaiians, and other Americans--were far better off because the Battle of Midway put an abrupt end to the whole idea.
. In summary, this is a fascinating topic that will hold the interest of any serious student of WWII in the Pacific. Dr. Stephan's treatment of it is highly detailed, thoroughly researched, and presented in a manner that holds the reader's interest from cover to cover.

How to think about national security-- a primer

This is true scholarship in service of a great question. A distinguished historian at University of Hawaii, Stephan analyzes the place of Hawaii in Japanese military strategy in WW II. Obviously, this raises the question of the fate of Japanese-Americans during World War II. The issue has received illumination in recent books by Greg Robinson and Eric Muller. Stephan offers a politically incorrect interpretation that indicates that the Japanese military thought they could rely on using American Japanese for their purposes following a successful invasion of Hawaii. The prospect cannot be denied. With internal national security issues more vital than ever, Stephan's book should be on the minds of all serious students and citizens today.
