This series of books is amazing and should be taught in elementary, middle, high school and college, so that education on why certain people do certain things is just because that is who they are!!!!!
You can't change people, but you sure can understand them so that you can change how you react to them and their "things"

I am not sure what I was expecting when I received this set but I have to say I learned so much more about myself, my spouse and our relationship than I ever thought possible. I now know why we are the way we are and what makes us tick. I now see the differences in each of us and others; for that matter why I get along with some people and not others. The workbook along with the Reader, used in a christian college class, has shown me a new side of myself. One that I liked but also one I knew I could improve on. For anyone who is going into counseling or wants a better understanding of your relationship without over-analyzing your love one, I say this is the book for you. I have told my spouse that if they wanted to understand me better, this is one way to do it. I will in no way push them to read it but I have shared some of the book with them and they have seen that it makes sense. Thank you Marita for writing this book.

Still the Best!

Review Date: 2007-06-14
I bought this book when it was first published and immediately liked the user friendly presentation of vital information throughout the book and the conscientious effort to encourage the use of low glycemic foods before moderate or high glycemic ones as research at that time--and now--shows to be of value, even though it's true that balancing meals lowers the total glycemic load of the meal. In one of physician Andrew Weil's books on foods, he cites reseach suggesting that eating lower glycemic foods is probably best for us in general. While I don't recall whether or not this book takes glycemic load into account, I believe that using low glycemic foods will still be helpful because most of these also have low glycemic loads as well. The book contains diabetic food lists categorized into low fat, moderate fat, and high fat foods as well. The author does a great job of listing the numbers of whole, natural foods one can eat to obtain a serving of fat: so many olives or nuts, for example. It may be of interest to those of you following Weight Watchers to know that if you calculate the point values of foods recommended and follow suggested numbers of servings for each food category based on the total calorie diet you want (1200, 1400, etc.), you can leave the suggested number of servings as is or make one or two adjustments and come out with the number of points you should have a day for that calorie level via Weight Watchers. The author does not mention this. I figured it out on my own. The book is sprinkled throughout with pages and charts devoted to a variety of topics having to do with age, lifestyle, etc; and she gives concise tips one can follow to achieve one's personal, customized goals. There is a short collection of recipes near the end. While I didn't try any of these, they do look tastey. I have examined many other weight loss/diet books since this one, including the new 2007 Duke University Diet, and still feel that this book by Kathy Isoldi is the most useful and easiest to read for the dieter. Ironically, the "new" Duke University Diet seems to be a replica in part of this diet in terms of giving the option of eating a reasonable yet high number of protein foods per day. Ms. Isoldi was the RD for Dr. Louis Arionne who, in about 1991, published The Arionne Diet. That book also has this up to 8 or 9 servings of protein a day plan within it as one option but encourages readers to first try the higher fruit and vegetable/complex carbohydrate diet for weight loss as it is healthier. I've also been trying to find Dr. Arionne's book but it seems to be out of print and hard to locate. Ms. Isoldi's book, however, will do just fine in the meantime because it has more useful charts and lists in it as well as the protein concept. These books do not overdo the protein concept. Kathy Isoldi's book stops at 8 servings as more than that resulted in wrist fractures for women in a famous study.

As a diet veteran of many years and a former employee of a major weight loss organization, I thought I knew it all -- or at least a lot. I read this book from cover to cover. It is full of the most up-to-date, research-based information presented in an intelligent, easily understandable style. I love the sections geared to specific life stages. "Mine" spoke right to me.

Thanks, Kathy. Good job.

When I bought this book, I was curious to see how it would be possible to lose weight without doing one of these fancy diets. I haven't been disappointed. I am eating more than before but better, I found lots of practical advice for my every-day life, I don't feel deprived or hungry. I've lost 10 pounds in less than a month, I feel great and want to go on. I am so happy, this book is truly helpful.

This book has good information for anyone concerned with getting healthy and staying healthy.

I work with Jim Hickman's brother Joe. He (Joe), is also my best friend, not to mention a brilliant Pharmacist. When Joe and Jim were kids they had the standard "I.Q" test that the Dept. of Education deemed necessary to determine how many lights were on and who was home. According to Dot,(their mother), they both scored off the charts. But, bless her, to this day she has never let on who scored higher. Jim, at his first attempt to write a book, not only was published, but of all the (Y2K), books in print rated in the top 5 reviewed by the Wall St. Journal. He has done his research, and written a no-nonsence "Guide", a reference if you will, just in case.......... Way to go Jim!

Real Advice for Women

Review Date: 2002-05-09
Discovering God's will for our lives isn't always easy, but
Marnie Pehrson teaches us in a down to earth style how
we can examine our lives and make changes that will help
us discover our place in the world

10 Steps to Fulfilling Your Divine Destiny is not a lofty
set of steps that will leave you feeling you can't possibly
accomplish what is recommended. Pehrson is a mom of
six, a business woman and a Christian. She walks the
walk-she knows that of which she writes. I felt as if I

could take these steps and apply them to my life.

My favorite chapter is on quilt. The author explains the
elements of guilt and teaches us why it can work in our
favor, and what to do when it becomes destructive. I nodded
my head through the entire chapter at how much sense it
made. It's one of those chapters I will read over and over.

Good spiritual books from a Christian viewpoint are hard
to come by. Much of the time I end up with a few grains of
good advice and put aside the rest. But 10 Steps to Fulfilling
Your Divine Destiny is a book to highlight, to keep by your
bedside and one which you can apply the advice on a daily basis.

A great place to start your journey!

The "10 Steps to Fulfilling Your Divine Destiny" apply to all of us, women in all kinds of lives, no matter how varied our backgrounds or our dreams. We all need the support of a good plan and a steady focus on the Lord to lead us. Marnie's book spells out that plan and that focus, offering real-life examples and practical advice that readers can apply to their lives right away. Marnie's book takes the reader's confusion and frustration away and replaces it with joy and vision. It's an inspiration to all women who desire to make their lives better.

Competitive Tax plan makes sense
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2008-03-12
This book is a pleasure to get through and does an excellent job assessing the current state of tax reform. His competitive tax plan makes quite a bit of sense too. Shifting a good portion of federal revenue to a VAT takes over 150 million individuals off the IRS rolls and simplifies the entire system. I worry that the implementation process would be too complicated to reap the benefits of the simpler system, and that this plan lacks the proper advocates in Congress, but that does not mean you shouldn't read this book and understand his plan. The VAT is a tried and true system throughout the EU, and could help the US in numerous ways.

Tax Policy Made Interesting
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 2008-01-18
Michael Graetz makes tax policy almost enjoyable. Graetz never forgets that the tax system's primary purpose is to raise the money needed to finance the government services that the nation wants in the least harmful way. Or, as the French economist Colbert put it, "The art of taxation consists in so plucking the goose as to obtain the largest possible amount of feathers with the smallest possible amount of hissing." Graetz provides a realistic assessment of our current tax structure and deftly identifies the failings of faddish proposals, such as the "fair tax" and the "flat tax." His proposal to reduce the number of people required to pay income tax and to add a value-added tax to our nation's fiscal arsenal deserves serious consideration by conservatives and liberals alike.

I create full web marketing plans for my clients who want to break into the Internet via the web with a focus on search marketing and call-to-action oriented content. This little book takes note of several emerging Internet-based marketing trends.

With insights and latest data on the full range of media, including TV, radio, internet (incl. rich media), outdoor and much more, plus Top 100 Markets, at-a-glance section organization, and a helpful glossary, this pocket-sized reference is a quick, lightweight companion on the way to the office, cab or flight. Take it to the hotel and review before the big client meeting. There are tons of ways to make the most of this handy tool. I've seen how it can make the difference when quick numbers and insights are what's needed to sketch out a media buying plan.

yep, this is NOT a "how to get rich quick" book but rather a pretty simple layout of starter questions for those who thought they knew just enough and for those who are just beginning. i bought this as one graduation gift for my niece and while i doubt she will soak up ALL the info, it's not an intimidating book so she should get some good out of it. (heck, i did.. i read it cover to cover before giving it to her!!)

If you want to skip the motivational money books and the how-to-get-rich formulas and just get real answers to real money questions, buy this book. Peter Sanders answers everything from "What is a credit score?" to "What is an exchange traded fund?" and more. I recommend "The 250 Personal Finance Questions Everyone Should Ask" as a starter personal finance book and as a reference guide to keep handy as you read finance news and make financial decisions.

Reading this book is a great start to understanding money and controlling your financial future.
