Kites Books

This book is fun. Too bad it's out of print. We wanted to make red kites for our Pentecost Sunday church picnic and didn't have much time to teach everyone how to make them. This book teaches you to make kites with very few materials and they can be made in no time at all. If you've never made a kite before, this is a good place to start.

This book is an ok book, but is a little confusing... I found that the drawings did not explain how to build the kites very well Intermediate-Advanced kite makers would love this book!!!

I found this book interesting and fairly easy to follow. The reason I gave only four stars is because occasionally some of the steps are a little vague and take some puzzling over to figure them out. I have successfully made the paper fold kite in the book and so have several of my sixth and seventh grade students. They fly very well and are great if you have limited flying area. The materials to make the kites are for the most part easy to find and inexpensive. Great book for teachers and lessons on following instructions.

A math wiz views the world in the form of math equations: baby + bottle = happy baby; baby - bottle = crying baby; what's a math wiz to do when Math Wiz + PE = misery?
As a math teacher, I get excited about books that show creative problem solving techniques. It's a good read for anyone who doesn't fit in--it might even give the reader ideas for how to solve their own "fitting-in" challenges.

This is probably one of my favorite reasons for loving craft projects, but it keeps someone like me, who tries to be green, recycling a product into something beautiful. I have already started setting aside the gift kites for people's birthdays. And at first you question if the directions for the kite is the page you have, but how it works is that the following week is the diretions for kite-making of the prior week. That way you don't destroy direction. Most brilliant! Good recommendation for christmas ornaments also. I am decorating trees and flying kites to my hearts content this year.

I got this without knowing anything about BoohBahs, and it squeezed out all my 2-year-old's former favorite books for quite awhile (she's back with some of her old faves again now, after several weeks of nonstop Boohbah). She has certain pages that are her favorites and she goes straight to them and then stares at them for the longest time. She's mysteriously captivated. I give this only 4 stars, not 5, because I'm not really sure what is going on in her mind and whether it's good for her. She is too little to explain to me why she is so tranfixed by this book. However, it sure makes for peaceful bedtimes!

An excellent, well-written, informative book that explains all about this wonderful little raptor without resorting to excessive and unapproachable scientific terminology. If you're interested in learning more about the Mississippi Kite than what's commonly available on web sites, then this is the book you want to buy.

This is a very amusing book and very funny. Like the other Mr. Majeika books it is very adventurous. He is a retired wizard although he still does magic and he is now a teacher at St Barty's where his students Joddy, Thomas and Pete help him out of a difficult scrape.

The book has great pictures and shows that other cultures have flood stories. However, the book is small in terms of amount of content.

I thought this was an excellent book an not only a portrayal of the isolation and cruelty directed at someone who is gay but also the effect it has on that person's family. The narrator, matthew, is a likable and realistic sixth-grader, and he is not used as a shortcut--the author doesn't make him realize some great truth in an effort to end the book. Bennett's father is also a great character because we see his love for his son but also his homophobia.

I thought the editorial review above (the first one) was stupid. It rushes through the entire plot line, including the end (Gee, thanks--now I don't even have to read it!) and makes the whole book sound like a stupid joke. Please ignore it.
