I am an Aircraft Engineer, and aircraft designer from Turkey.I have done my Ms.c on landing gear design for light aircraft. I read a lot of book on this subject, but this book was my favorite book.you can understand its contents easily, and you can get knowledge for how can you calculate the landing gears elements dimensions. However, I am waiting for long time "second volume". I am sure it would be very good too, and I want to from author when it will be print.

I am a stress analyst working for an aerospace company. I had the oportunity to design and analyze a few landing gears and pazmany's book was always my guide. It provides all the nessesary information you need to design and calculate any landing gear from scratch. I recommend it to anyone involve in aircraft design. I can't wait for volume two.
A must for any designer of light aircraft

As far as I know, there are only three textbooks which focus on landing gear design. Conway's book was published in 1955 and it is out of print. Currey's book published by AIAA is devoted to the design of landing gears for heavy aircraft (B747 for example) although the theory is valid for any aircraft. Pazmany's book is the ONLY book which focuses on LIGHT aircraft. It contains excellent theoretical background, many excellent illustrations, many many technical data on tyres, rims, brakes, and addresses of manufacturers. Most notably, there are a few pages which show step by step how to derive the landing gear loads according to the FAR 23 rules, with complete calculations and many illustrations. Many landing gear designs are shown in detail and commented. I was so impressed that I recommended the book to my university's library (it was ordered) and to my supervisor (he bought it). I strongly recommend any serious light aircraft designer to get the book now that it is still available...

This is a very handsome book - of great interest for architectural buffs or historians. It pairs two great architects - Robert Venturi and Irving Gill - in a unique, engaging, and informative way. The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (in La Jolla, California)is one of the finest small museums in the country, well worth a visit to see outstanding architecture as well as cutting-edge contemporary art.

This is an outstanding book for anyone interested in the work of two great architects - Robert Venturi and Irving Gill. The combination of their work at the museum in La Jolla is masterful, and this book gives a fascinating look into the museum's history and Venturi's thought processes as he sought to restore the historic "Scripps House" while expanding and modernizing the Museum of Contemporary Art. A great find - makes me want to visit La Jolla and see it for myself!

Buy this book even if you've never been to the La Jolla museum it describes. If you've been to the museum, it's worth buying to give you pause to reflect on what you've seen. This book offers both the history and theory behind Venturi's reshaping of a wonderful museum in an attractive location. Those of us who remember the museum in the old days have got to be impressed with what Venturi has done. Although this text is all too brief, it provides the illumination needed to appreciate more fully this California classic.

The author speaks to lay people such as myself. He illustrates and compares through photographs different effects of lighting upon the same scene, so you not only read, but get the visual idea. Through reading this book, I am able to plan a lighting scheme that works for my environment and have become my own lighting designer!

Most lighting books show you lots of pictures and tell you what was done.
They hardly help clueless DIY's like myself. Kevin's approach to lighting,
however, is systematic and understandable. His ideas and methods are
innovative yet simple. You'll be surprised at how much your room or house can
be transformed with the proper lighting.
Absolute must-get for new or renovating home owners.

Very reader-friendly and user-friendly book for those of us who do not have a lot of money to spend to decorate. Because it is written in first person, Linda Dano, explains all facets of decorating wonderfully. Tips are very easy to follow. Visually, the book is very attractive.

I believe this book is very useful. We are looking for our first house now, so I've gone through a great amount of decorating books and magazines, and I was quite naive thinking that I know the subject pretty well. I was so mistaken! It's turned out I had no idea about basic principles of home decorating (though my friends find my home very cozy, yes, they really do!). I could never imagine before, that a book with few illustrations (but rich and great looking) may be so useful. But it isn't illustrations that count. This book is a must to read before you'll take any other book filled with pictures, because it tells you what's behind the scene and instead of copying someone's else idea, it teaches you to create you own. Also, it's written with a great style and humor, very easy and interesting to read (I even put away my detective story!)

This book has been needed a long time! The photos are spectacular! The anecdotes tickle your tastebuds for more. It makes you want to go on a tour of each home and learn more. Thank goodness these authors preserved the memories of times past and talents shared of people who cared about building a city of warmth and beauty in which to live out their lives and for generations to appreciate over a hundred and seventy years later. A great book to sit with by the fire and take a journey back in time and be inspired for today.

This is a wonderful book. Venture into the world of antebellum Georgia as you relive the characters and mansions of beautiful, historic Macon, GA--the city that Sherman by-passed but General Layfayette visited. The authors and photographer have taken extraordinary pains in recreating the old South. Outstanding photography and dynamic history. Every home should have one gracing their living room coffee table. Excellent Christmas present for people who have everything.

Everyone who is professionally involved with the marina business, design, operation, financing, insuring MUST have this excellent reference book. It is easy to read, provides very useful and balanced information, amply illustrated with charts, photos, illustrations and references. Unlike most other marina design books, Tobiasson offers simple "rules of thumb" to help understand, plan, design and maintain marina structures. Of particular strength is its section on wave protection from storms and wake. Anyone with marina experience will agree that without good wave protection no marina structures can survive very long. Highly recommended at any price.

This is an excellent global overview of everything concerned with modern marina development. It covers subjects from a socio-economics of marina users, historical development of recreational boats and harbours to financial data on building and running a modern marina. Attention is paid to regulatory requirement and environmental considerations including mitigation of wave impact, fuel and sewage facilities to the merits of different break-wave and mooring structures. Modern trends such as the increasing length of boats to dry storage facilities are covered to allow planning for the lifetime of marinas built today. The manual is written for marine designers and operators but is so well illustrated that even technical data can be clearly understood by a lay person. The authors' 30+ years' experience in engineering design and teaching is put to excellent use in this quite comprehensive book. Well worth the money!

This is the first in a 3-part (or more?) series: the narrator is (in 1927) the 99-year-old Honore Greenwood, born in France, and looking back over his life. The second installment (Come Sundown) is also available, and that novel suggests at the end that there's at least one more yet to be done. The author is a novelist and a poet: the latter quality comes through strongly here--the writing has a powerful and lyrical tone to it. There are elements that will remind you of some of the other fine western novels: Little Big Man (which was further north), Lonesome Dove and its sequels and prequels, and Harry Comb's striking novel Brules.
You'll encounter many historical figures, ranging from mountain men to Comanche warriors. Greenwood moves comfortably between the Comanche and the whites such as Kit Carson. You'll get a strong and sympathetic view of the Comanche (not unlike Jack Crabb's movement between the Cheyenne and the whites in Little Big Man). McMurtry's view of the Comanche is more neutral, and Comb's view is much darker. If you've read McMurtry or Combs, you'll get a very different flavor for the True Humans here. This is a thoroughly enjoyable read!

I am an author and first read this book to gain a little insight into details of western tales. I soon found the story and its characters bigger than life and the disctiptions of western life and travel compelling. I grew up in southern Colorado and northern Mew Mexico. The country comes out in vivid detail in much of Mike Blakely's writing.
I recommend Moon Medicine and its companion, Come Sundown highly.

An excellent Old West tale filled with all the things that make a great story -- action, adventure, humor, a hint of romance, and a central character who completely holds your interest. This page-turner is written in first person, and Blakely makes you feel as if you're along for the ride as young Honore Greenwood leaves his native France on the run and arrives in early 19th century America. Honore is the outsider in this land of Americans, Texans, Mexicans and various Native American tribes, but he quickly adapts to life in the Wild West, and his adventures along the way easily hold the interest of the reader. Despite its 400 plus pages, it was a quick read simply because I couldn't put it down.
