Hilariously funny. I read many of the pages aloud to my husband during a roadtrip. I wanted to print every single phrase,every single quote, notation and thought in 180 point font and hang them up on my refrigerator. Loved it.

This was very funny and I've recommended it to several other Mothers. However, do not spend your money on her "Book of Eleven" as it does not compare to this book!

I bought this book for my wife for Christmas. By the time I wrapped it, I had read the whole thing. I'd pick it up, read a little, laugh a lot, put it down and do other things. I kept coming back to it and eventually I found I had finished it.

Rosenthal's notes are dead on and she writes with a style that makes the most mundane things humorous. Sort of a Seinfeld for parents, except as parents you'll really understand what she's talking about. You may even get a little absolution from the book - for example, in a list of confessions she admits she has let sucking the toothpaste off a toothbrush pass as "brushing". Having kids myself, I can completely understand and picture that situation...

Great stuff...it was a perfect stocking stuffer. Guys, this would be a great book to surprise your wife with for no reason.

This is a good book to pick up and enjoy.

This was such a fun review of insider, contemporary politics - even though we all know there are trials and tribulations in the political arena, Iris offers such a refreshing insider review of what it takes to be a true "Schlepper". My entire family has read this book and loved it. My new motto is "Have you read my resume?" I plan to use it in a meetng or two in months to come.
She meets the challenges with the chutzpah I only wish I had! Thanks for the enjoyable read. BTW, read this while on a cruise to Alaska and shared your tales with many folks we met. Wish you could have been there.

Schlepper is a smart, sassy look behind the scenes of presidential politics. I always wondered what went on in those smoke filled rooms. Now I know.

This is a book about the people in Presidential camapigns and what they go through. What Iris Burnett doesn't know about campaign politics isn't worth knowing. And, yet, she sees the humanity of it all. And still she loves it for what can be accomplished to help ordinary people. She made me laugh out of sheer recognition of the truth. Buy this book today. You will be hooked by the end of page two.

The Southern Girl's Guide to Surviving the Newlywed Years is a cute little pink and green book that will match most gift-wrap at the next bridal shower you may attend. Humorously delving into such topics as Mother-in-Laws, moving in together, household chores, decorating, husband hygiene, and feeding and fighting this book provides a comic relief to many newlywed dramas.

The delightful and interesting thing about this book is the Southern spin Annabelle Robertson gives to age-old situations. While she's not quite the female version of Jeff Foxworthy, she is good for a few chuckles. I particularly like the small graph/tables she includes to reinforce her points such as the Color Code for Disposal of Husband's Possessions:

I also enjoyed some of the recipes in this book such as Everyday Chicken Casserole and Southern Sweet Tea; however, an index would have been nice, so that you can find them again once you've read through the book.

Written like a self-help book, The Southern Girl's Guide to Surviving the Newlywed Years is easy to flip open and begin reading from any point. Like wise it is easy to read a section, set it down for, oh say, 7 to 9 months, and then pick it back up again. At times the humor is a bit redundant and more like the Southern Girl's Guide to being high maintenance than it is to surviving a marriage. Of course, I might not get all of the humor, being a Yankee in all. One thing about this book that is universal is how funny being married can be. It makes the perfect gag-gift and should be read as such.

Treat yourself to an easy read of Annabelle's fun stories this summer. You'll be glad that you did! She makes the mundane and even annoying adventures in matrimony funny. Enjoy!

I read this book in the Greensboro, North Carolina airport at 6am while waiting for an 8 am London flight. I was laughing out loud so much that the man beside asked what I was reading and I told him. I ended up reading it out loud, and we both laughed our buns off!

True Southern Girls are not to be confused with southern girls. I had the great pleasure of meeting Annabelle while arranging for her to speak at a spouse function. I knew almost instantly that she was a witty, intelligent woman however nothing prepared me for the real deal. She is downright F-U-N-N-Y and proved to be quite the entertainer. While I am definitely not a newlywed, I truly enjoyed this book and was unable to put it down as I was anxiously awaiting the next fit of laughter. The longer you have been married, the funnier as we have all "been there, done that" at least a time or two. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone! Thank you Annabelle for this literary dose of fun and giggles... I look forward to the next great reading adventure!

As a cronic list writer, I can relate to this woman. I was able to see Karen Rizzo's life change, grow, stumble and reinvent itself. What a treat. Laced with sadness and great joy, this humourous book is well worth the read! I really liked it!!!

What a pleasant surprise! I feel like I know Karen better than many lifetime friends and I really dig her! Don't tell Vince the Mechanic:)

A lovely book. So real. So touching. I feel like I actually lived it along with Karen Rizzo and her family and that's a gift. I can't wait for her next one. (There will be a next one, I hope??? I wanna find out just what happens with these colourful characters...)

...or the journaler, or the parent, or the child, or - you can see where this is going! As a list-maker myself I found this book to be comforting, but its insights would be available to anyone. Following Karen on her path from childhood through motherhood in bits, here and there, was an amazing experience. I wasn't so sure about the book when I received it as a gift - a book of lists? are you trying to mock me? - but it was a heartwarming journey through which I (along with other reviewers!) laughed and cried.

You could send this out to all the people in your life that end up on your lists and they'll love you for it. I read this book in one sitting, couldn't put it down really. It puts the small moments in line with the big ones and reminds you that they all add up to a grand life. I gave it to my mom and she laughed and cried, which she loves to do... this one's a keeper.

my 2 1/2 year old daughter thinks this is the funniest book. every time I read it and say 'underwear', she giggles and repeats it herself.

I had this book when I was a little kid. My mom would read the book to my younger brother and I and we would laugh so much. Unfortunately we lost our house and all our belongings to a fire. The only thing that I really missed that got lost in the fire was my book. I'm now 23 years old and I still remember it. I was very happy to find the original hardcover print here and I order it.

My son got this book when it first came out, and we still have fun with it...even though he is now 17. It's a game I play with my children, can they say "underwear" 10 times without laughing...and usually they can't! I recently purchased this book for my neice and nephews, so they too can enjoy the fun!

This is a short book that brings laughter to everyone! It is a great book to read aloud to a group or at bedtime. It is also good for beginning readers.

This book is great! The author is very warm and the book makes you laugh out loud at times. It is like talking with a close girlfriend. I highly reccomend this book even if you are not having fertility issues the book is a fun & quick read.

I got this book yesterday in the mail and could not put it down. I am not a reader at all and I finished the book this afternoon. I could relate to this book on almost every aspect. I laughed and cried. I would recommend this book to all ladies with infertility issues or not... just so they could have a glimpse of what we go through on a daily basis!

In November 07', at age thirty, I was diagnosed with Premature Ovarian Failure. My husband and I were told the only way we could have a biological child was through IVF. Since November I have been reading infertility books, looking for emotional support. In the tradition books all I was able to find was factual and scientific information, which stated what was wrong with me, but never really reached the heart of the matter. When I read Jill's book, I finally felt like someone understood me. While the book is a fictional account of her experience, her emotions must have been completely nonfiction! I have had so many "me too" moments while reading this book. It has been the first book that has made me realize I am not completely crazy. Knowning the others have had frustrating experiences with doctors, and adoption agencies and medications(as well as unsolicited information!!) has been both comforting and helpful. I would recommend this book to any woman suffering from infertility. I would also recommend this book to anyone who has a friend or family member suffering, it is an eye-opening glimpse into the ups and downs of infertility.

A friend gave me this book, knowing I would enjoy it. I just finished it tonight, and really did like it! Jill Sayre writes from the heart and from her own personal experiences, yet fictionalizes the world in her novel so I, as the reader, wondered what really happened to the author.

The Waiting Womb is a triumphant story of how a heart can heal and that it does not just take a womb to make a family. It takes love, selflessness, and strength. The characters in the novel were so very real - it reads like a memoir, one that I couldn't put down!

I look forward to reading more of Jill Sayre's work!

I could not put this book down. It is very well written with a bit of humor and easy to read. It shows what a woman goes through during infertility treatments and how her life is affected by the decisions she makes. It also touches on international adoption. My husband and I experienced infertility and are now beginning the adoption process. It was very comforting to read this book and know that we are not the only couple affected by infertility. I highly recommend reading this book before you start any infertility treatments as it gives you a glance at what it entails. It also helps you understand others who have gone through this difficult process. I can't wait to read Jill's next book.

This is an adorable book, however, it is lacking in the quantity of dachshunds. The few that are included are fantastic, high quality and the "other" drawings are good, too....But I wanted a wiener book!

I love the Far Side...and this has many of my favorites!

This is the best Far Side Book ever, IMO. It's a must for any fans of the weiner dog, and for those looking for a good laugh in general. Plus, it's got my seven-year-old interested in reading. He wants to know what's going on in the cartoons, so he has to read the captions (but sometimes the humor is lost on him!). Classic Larson, and lots of fun.

The Far Side is the greatest comic of all time and this makes a great coffee table book.

Imagine, if you will, a book containing a selection of Far Side illustrations. Further imagine that the center portion of this book contains eight full color images of wiener dogs as various artists, such as Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso, could have imagined them. If you can imagine a book such as this, you will have entered the wiener dog zone.

Gary Larson has always been one of the most imaginative cartoonists of any era. This collection contains more than 180 Gary Larson illustrations that, as with all Gary Larson collections, run from subtle puns to bizarre perspectives. How about Wharf Cows scampering the ropes that tie ships to docks? Or perhaps a scene from Giraffes IV, where they are out for more than acacia leaves?

If there is a drawback to this collection, it is that the two volume set "The Complete Far Side 1080 - 1994" is a more cost effective way to buy all of Gary Larson's cartoons. Unfortunately for me, I already have six or eight or perhaps more Gary Larson collections already. Maybe I'll just keep on buying them. I know I keep reading them. Enjoy!

I have been a faithful FoxTrot reader for years. Roger, Andy and their kids Peter, Paige and Jason are always good for a reality check with a large dose of laughter. I've got two girls and let me tell you, I see a lot of my kids in Paige with, I believe, even a healthy dose of Jason thrown in. And they have Peter's bottomless stomach. Of course, they're faithful FoxTrot readers too. I used to read the strip to them, explain what was going on, but now they get it just fine and we three all laugh together. Then my girls try and explain the strip to their dad, who pretends he doesn't get it.

The FoxTrot folks are a great family, one we sort of got used to checking up on every day, so we took the news that Mr. Amend was going to cease daily distribution of his wonderfully funny people and turn his strip to Sunday only, with a bit of sadness. Still, we have these terrific FoxTrot books to keep us going with our FoxTrot fix. Mr. Amend is to be commended for his great gift to our culture and his great gift to so many lives. I truly believe a laugh a day, helps keep the blues away and the FoxTrot gang are always good for a laugh. Heck there are a lot of laughs in the FoxTrot books. I know, I have them all and I am, along with my girls and my hubby dear, eagerly awaiting the next one.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention, we don't have an iguana, but my girls do have a pet gecko and, you guessed it, his name is Quincy.

I've been a Foxtrot reader for a long time and personally I think there is something suspiciously wrong with people who don't find Bill Amend's characters funny as all get out. If you want a good laugh, check out Bill in your local newspaper, or better yet, get one of the Foxtrot books. They are all great, really, they are.

Like many of Mr. Amend's fans I'm a bit disappointed he's switching his strip to Sunday-only, but fortunately I can still read him daily in the Foxtrot books. Get them one and all and you can keep right on a laughing.

This book is so funny. It makes you laugh your head off!

Bill Amend has created several treasuries, including "Enormously Foxtrot" and "Camp Foxtrot". This book is "wildly" hilarious and the rereading factor is greater than almost any other 'comic book that has ever existed in the past,say, 1999 years. If you buy it, you certainly will NOT regret it.

I can sit and read this book over and over and over and the jokes are just so funny. I find it quite odd but I can relate to Jason Fox in so many ways.

I love this book, but then I love the whole Life in Hell series. More truth-telling in comic form from Matt Groening. Love the different types of bosses, the magazine covers, the whole thing. Great fun.

I tried to keep an open mind while reading it, I really did. I think part of the problem is that I was a young kid in the 80's and don't have the nostalgic connection that a lot of readers do to this series. Despite my best efforts, I didn't find myself laughing at all. In fact, I managed merely a chuckle or two from cover-to-cover.

Keep in mind, I was never expecting a masterpiece. I was simply looking for an early glimpse into one of the arguably funniest minds in history. I have a dark sense of humor, so it didn't bother me that the taste was rather dry. I knew it was a beginning work, so I wasn't put off by the rough illustrations throughout either.

What did get me was the fact that there was very little within the pages I could identify with. I've been in the working force for a long time and have had all sorts of different bosses, but nothing struck me as familiar. The characters were very bland and the whole book struck me as something that could've been written by a smart kid poking fun at his school. I was disappointed, to say the least.

Like I said, this low opinion may be because I was born too late to enjoy the series as it was published, so I gave it 3 stars in faith that I might just be missing some of the subtle humor that's so well buried within. On the other hand, maybe the humor was just too obvious and so I missed it completely. In any case, I would've given it 2 stars if I were judging it without any knowledge of how truly funny Matt Groening could be.

I managed to find a seller who offered it for .01 plus cheap shipping, so I only paid $3.50 for it. Had I bought it new, I would consider it a waste of money. My advice to those who are jumping into this series with fresh eyes (like me): BUY USED.

This iS A REAL FUNNY BOOK about life in the workplace. It makes Dilbert look like a wimp!

I'm not trying to date the book as it's lessons about work defy the passing of time, but I remember encountering "Life is Hell" in the L.A. Weekly back in the mid-eighties and I was dumbfounded at how these simple little cartoons could pack so much weariness and cynicism.
If you have trouble identifying with the themes and characters in Groening's work it might be time to step outside the mansion, put the Trust Fund aside and join the real world. Let this be your guide!

Sometimes stating the obvious is necessary. Matt Groening, with his cartoon characters that are this close to exploding, has reached deep into the black heart of manager/worker relationships and created this hilarious masterpiece. Anyone who has a job anywhere has got to find something in here that pertains to their job. Sadistic bosses, stupid co-workers, toe-the-line mid-managers, bad coffee, unrealistic demands and so much else is compacted into this overworked little book. Some of the bosses in this book make The Simpsons' Mr. Burns look like a boy scout. And that is hell indeed!

Since moving to Texas, I've been puzzled by some 'odd' behavior by friends. Now I GET IT. This book is hilarious, well-written, and absolutely on target.

As a new Texan, and yes a Yankee Chick, I found this book extremely helpful. I understand my new adopted state a little better, but I understand how different I may appear to my new found friends due solely to this book. Thanks to my best friend up North for buying this book for me as a going away present. I read it on the way here on the plane, I could not put the book down. It is time again for me to read it... it's that good.

I'm contemplating a move to Texas, and this book is just what I needed. It's funny, the author is charming and the info is perfect. As a native Californian, I really had no idea what to expect from Texas, but after reading this, I think I do. It seems like everything is different in Texas, from customs to state pride to guns to food, and it would be easy to be confused. It would be great if someone could write this book about every state in the nation. I think we'd all understand each other better.
I also think this would be a great gift to give someone who has moved to Texas in the past five years or so. It's really funny.

This should be required reading for any Yankee Chick moving to Texas as well as any one who embraces the many cultural differences that make this country great. Ms. Dembling's insight and sharp wit had me laughing out loud many times and I don't even live in Texas or the South; I'm just a Yankee Chick living up North in Yankee land. Before reading this delightful book (which I read on a lark during a biz trip to Dallas) I had no interest in Texas, but now - hell, I think I'd like to plan a vacation there, perhaps find my self some good old boys to hang out with! Her pride in being a Yankee Chick and her love of Texas is evident throughout and it translates into a sincerity that makes this book so special. Hurry, buy this book!!!!

The book was well-thought out and researched. It explained parts of Texas and attributes of Texans never explained publicly so well before. I recognized myself in it, I must confess.

She needs to write "The Texan Guide to Yankeeland". Now that would be very useful to us 5 remaining Native Texans in the whole state.
