This is a clear, concise and very well-written guide to gun ownership and avoiding jail time. With so many celebrities like Puffy Combs and Jay-Z, along with scores of average citizens being arrested for gun charges, this book provides a practical how-to guide to avoiding the slammer while packing heat. A special shout-out to Wallis, who contributed to to this review.

John Breck is a widower, who has left his ranch and two daughters to go to the aid of his dead wife's sister and family. Elizabeth, the sister, has also lost her husband, and is having difficulty with a daughter and son, who are starting to get wild. The other daughter is her mother's joy. John is using a derivation of his real name, and is now an upstanding citizen in his community after an earlier life as a gunfighter who was widely feared by lawless men. His nephew wants to emulate the uncle of his youth, but John has been changed by his marriage and fatherhood into a decent, upstanding man and no one in his county knows his true name. In his sister-in-law's town, the banker has the community under his thumb, and John is going to not only get Elizabeth's husband's gold claim properly restored to her, but try to help with the two wayward youth. This is a really good story, and I recommend it highly.

Few collections include so wide a variety of epigrams, satire and simply nasty poems as Kenneth Baker's "I Have No Gun But I Can Spit" (the title is from Auden). Selections run from classic Latin (Horace in translation) to Pope and Swift and a good many poets less well known than they should be.

This is a book for someone interested in a system that actually works. The authors have used their considerable experience to analyze the process of acquiring a target and hitting it, and the book contains both technical and figurative data about the process. No more flailing about "like a paper bag in a tornado." Very practical. As a bonus, it is well written and funny. My shooting improved dramatically.

This book is the Rosetta Stone for gun collectors!
Helpful Votes: 18 out of 19 total.
Review Date: 1998-03-23
The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Handguns is a fantastic reference for the avid gun and militaria collector. It is a vast compendium of sketches and illustrations of thousands of handguns from around the world and accross time. It is organized by country of manufacture and includes a brief treatise on the companies referenced. The great value of this book lies in its use as tool to determine the origin of obscure, cryptically marked handguns and rare variations of better known models. The weakness of the book lies in its organization. This tome could benefit from a good cross-referenced index. Nonetheless, it is a work that all serious collectors of this genre should own.

Big Ups to Mr. Dennis Wise!

IN GUNS WE TRUST BY Dennis Wise
"In Guns We Trust" is a vicious story. These hookers would make a trick rethink cheating on his wife. Dennis Wise has done a wonderful job taking you on the journey with Bianca, Paula, Angela and Champ. Bianca could be anybody's daughter, who has been so closely sheltered that when she finally does get a taste of the street life she just loses her damn mind!
"In Guns We Trust" takes you into a world where the vagina monologues have not gone. However, they show that the power is in the "putty cat". Sharky and Champ who are rivals have a beef throughout the entire book and while Sharky continues to send people to kill Champ and those who are close to him the real mastermind behind Sharky is his sister who is in a whole breed of her own. Sandy has a crew of women who she has trained to kill on her command. Of course, this is after they make a man pay in more ways than one.
This story is not to be taken lightly and will keep you wanting more. This is a must read with a hell of an ending.
Big ups to Mr. Dennis Wise!
Happy Reading!!!!
