Great people seem to be able to say with few words truth that we recognize instantly when we see it. In "Becoming Unstoppable" we have a teacher who clearly lives what he writes. Someone rooted in life, someone who has suffered, but bounces back. This book may be inexpensive, but the advice within priceless.
Not the kind of advice of the heavenly minded (to be of no earthly good).

This book provides clinicians with the best model for working with couples, families, and adolescents suffering alcohol and drug problems that I've encountered, by one of family therapy's best authors and therapists. Treadway has been teaching us how to negotiate the dangers and joys of working with families under the influence for over 20 years. His tour de force Before It's Too Late on working with substance abuse in the family has been on the back list at Norton since 1989. Put another way, this book has been a staple of our professional and literary diet of family therapy and addiction for more than 11 years! A remarkable achievement in and of itself. The book is written with Treadway's trademark sense of humor and deep respect for his clients.Because the author takes time to locate his own thoughts, feelings and experience in the work, including his struggle with his own mother's alcoholism, I often find myself recommending this "must read" for therapists to my clients.

I just met with the investigator from the state board, and he was amazed how prepared I was for our meeting. I had all the meetings, treatment plan etc. documentation together. I am not as afraid to go in front of the board now. I think I have a good idea of what to expect because of this book!

Hard to put down once you get into it, especially if you're a cop. This gives a close-up look at the group-think of street cops from a participant observation perspective. It transitions easily and cops can relate to the personal stories, some humurous, some tragic.

So begins an action packed novel in true Harold R. Miller style.

In his hunt for the missing girl, Penn and his partner PZ cross paths with the CIA, DIA, DEA and the USCG, all of whom are somehow entangled in the largest drug running syndicate in the Caribbean, not to mention a notorious S&M porno operation in San Francisco.

With three plots running simultaneously throughout the novel, culminating in a highly satisfactory, yet surprising ending, I would recommend The Belize File to those readers seeking an action-packed journey into the world of the Private Investigator.

This is the only book out there that deals with children who have died from substance abuse. Most grief books have a sentence or two but because this type of death is considered one of the disenfranchised griefs - deaths from a reason not acceptable to society - it is not touched upon. This book shows that these people did not set out to be addicts and due to various reasons, started to use substances, never realizing the hold drugs take.
These young people were someone's sons and daughters/they were loved/and are missed. This book tells some of their stories.

I got a copy of this book from the local library. Very impressed. Lynch is a GP who has also trained as a psychotherapist, and he presents a superb case for doctors listening to their patients, and augmenting drug treatment (if it is used at all) with genuine caring. Well researched and thought provoking, this book belongs on every doctor's, psychiatrist's, psychologist's, and health board's shelf...and it needs to be read!

Once I started reading this book I could not put it down. Gary is an inspiration! This soft covered book has large print. Chapter after Chapter, I laughed and Cried. I felt like he was talking to me as I was reading this book. This book will help anyone trying to lose weight every step of the way. It is worth every penny and then some...A great book for anyone no matter what size you are Big or Small! This is how the "Million Calorie March" was Born.Fighting obesity in todays society.
