Self Help for Chronic Pain Relief!
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2007-10-24
I stumbled across this series of CD's actually looking for something else. Since I have used meditation in the past for pain relief, I thought I would give this CD a try. (BTW, the price is very little for the benefit derived in this CD!)
A little background, I am a chronic pain sufferer. I have Rheumatiod and Osteoarthritis. I started using meditation in the hospital for pain relief and the CD's I had, just did not do the trick.
Scott Sulak goes over the top with this CD! The first time I put this CD in and started listening, I went into a deep relaxation state. I happened to be sitting at my desk when I did this!..Luckily, it's a home office!
I have found the alternative method I need to help control my pain.
I urge anyone who is interested in a more natural way to control pain to try this CD. I do believe what Scott says, 'Pain is an emotion'. He proves this by the relief you can achieve while listening to this CD.

The CD is about 30 minutes long and is very relaxing, to say the least. I was skeptical at first, but it worked for me. I've had chronic headaches for years, and noticed an immediate improvement. Highly recommended.

Although DeGowin & DeGowin is the gold standard of physical examination texts, Bledsoe provides the paramedic student with an excellent background in patient assessment. Most one-volume paramedic texts are somewhat skimpy when it comes to the topic of physical examination techniques. This book is an excellent supplement. It also makes lesson planning easy since it follows the National Curriculum nearly to the letter. I currently use it as a resource for lecture material on the relevant topics for the paramedic and CE courses I teach. There is an incredibly thorough section on physical examination techniques, broken down by body system. It is quite in-depth, even covering ophthalmoscopic, otoscopic, ROM, and advanced neurological exams. Even though the aforementioned techniques are infrequently used in the field, it provides an excellent springboard for paramedics that work in the Emergency Department, as well as those that may wish to pursue the up-and-coming "paramedic practitioner" program that is now on the drawing board at the national level. After presenting physical exam techniques, they are brought together into complete assessments, with rationales presented for each component. This book also includes the standard communication and documentation sections. This book comes highly recommended, as well as volume one of this series. If volumes 3, 4 and 5 continue the tradition, the textbooks will most likely become the premier advanced prehospital education series.

A must-have compendium of classical formulas.
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 1999-02-05
Despite the rough biding and slightly quirky format, this book is beautifully endowed with the most important classical formulae used in clinical practice. A solid discussion of representative formulae from each therapeutic category including very important formula modifications. Also provided with each formula are western disease indications according to what has been supported by modern research. This book excellently illustrates basic introductory information on tongue and pulse diagnosis, the 6 stages and (zang) organ pathologies. In all, it's a scholarly work worthy of "must-have" status.

This is an excellent book for clinicians who treat children and adolescents with psychotropic medications. It is relatively up-to-date and user friendly. It has many useful tables and offers specific dosing and safety monitoring guidelines. We chose this book for our child psychiatry fellows as the core text of their pediatric psychopharmacology course and they also thought that it was excellent. This is not, however, a book for parents or non-medical people.

About 300 pharmacists certified world wide to practice! your will feel at the conclusion that patients and societies wherever they are have the right and in need for such practice just to optimize their care. Most realistic view of the future of the practice
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 1998-08-01
This book covers the history, evolution, and definition of the future practice of pharmacy. It describes a rational, realistic, and exceptionally well defined view of the future practice of community pharmacy. The definition is backed up by a large scale analysis of data collected using the model demonstrating its effectivness and positive effects on patient clinical outcomes. Topics include reimbusement, documentation and data models associated with the practice. This is an exceptional and cutting edge landmark text that if adopted will change the level of care provided by medicine whereever it is used. HMO's and managed care and pharmacy benefit organizations supporting this model would actually be involved in managing care rather than managing contracts.

Review Date: 2008-08-28
This book should be in the library of any pharmaceutical scientist who involves with developing stability indicating methods or wishes to gain better understanding of drug degradation mechanism. It provides a wealth of resources and covers many aspects of stress testing. It includes theoretical as well as practical information. Steve Baertschi did an exceptional job bringing these topics together in one reference.

For additional resource in the Stability Testing area, consider the following book:
Handbook of Stability Testing in Pharmaceutical Development: Regulations, Methodologies, and Best Practices

STRESS TESTING OF PHARMACEUTICALS

Baertschi and his co-authors are the experts in the field of pharmaceutical stress testing. They cover the need for such work, the mechanisms of drug degradation, the practical aspects of performing the stress experiments, and the analysis of the products of the stress tests. No other book comes close.

Anyone who needs to do this sort of work should buy this book. It is a fairly expensive book, but the information is very well work it.

I teach allied health pharmacology and struggle to find a textbook that isn't too long for a one quarter class, that isn't too full of medical terminology that is incomprehensible to a student without a medical school education, and yet that has beautiful illustrations and diagrams of where and how drugs act in the body.

This book succeeds where others fail. I use it to supplement my lectures. I love the illustrations, the text that cuts to the essentials, and the short length (my students might actually read it!) Although it was written to accompany the textbook, IMHO it stands alone for a one quarter or one semester pharmacology text that anyone can read, covering just the basic essentials.
