I just finished this book, it is an excellent read. The story of Abbey and John is thrilling. I couldn't put the book down, after I found for myself, I had to skip the scripture for the first time I read it. I then went back and read the book with the scriptures.

The journey of Abbey was a miracle, and very inspiring. I live in New York, and have visited all the sites that are used in the book, and I think her description of Jesus is what I would picture him.

I was able to use my imagination, and saw every scene.

Thank You Kathlene for writing this inspiring book.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Spiritual" science experiments to do with children or folks of any age!!
Each lesson has a list of the materials you need (things every household has in it), an explanation of how to conduct the lesson and the spiritual lesson to be learned and an affirmation that applies to the particular lesson.
The book begins with laying the foundation, how to use the book and guidelines for affirmations.
Some examples of the lessons are:
*Just one person can lighten darkness
*Spirit is everwhere present
*Take time to relax
*Like attracts like
*Inside gives form to the outside
*There is no seperation
*Change is needed for growth
*Think about what you want, not what you don't want.
*Listen for guidance
*We are all connected
and many, many more for a total of 31 lessons in all.
Non-religous, simple, spiritual truths....but can be adapted to any religion as well.
Offers an experiential, hands-on learning experience that enables one to remember these concepts better because they have both participated in and expereinced them visually and conceptually.
Climbing the Rainbow is a great story, and is a really fast read. The story takes place in Utah, which is where Dora Cookson has recently moved to from Mexico City. I really enjoyed this story, because I could relate to it so well. When I was fourteen years old my family moved to Idaho from Colorado, because my grandmother died. My family was the only family my grandfather had left, so we moved here to be with him. It was very hard for me to be a teenager, and move to a new town. Many people were very rude and not open to making friends with me. Dora had the same problem. Cora Beth noticed Dora's pain, and introduced herself. Katherine, who I am still best friends with today, did the same for me as Cora Beth did for Dora. Through this whole book I felt for Dora, because I have been in her shoes. It is hard to make new friends, especially during the teenage years. If you have ever been a new kid, or opened up to a new kid, this book would be great for you to read. You will be able to relate!
From Erebus to Everest, this is your book!
At first glance, this appears to be a how-to manual for expeditions to Himalayan peaks. It is that -- you could climb any of the 8,000 meter peaks with the information presented here -- but it's really much more. This is a guide for planning and executing literally any type of expedition: from kayaking in Chile, to big wall climbing in Greenland. There are so many tips, ticks and hints here that it will save you much time and grief. Much of this information hasn't been presented anywhere else that I've seen...wish I'd read it before my last trip. This would be a good book for anyone thinking about joining an expedition and essential if you are planning one!
DO NOT MISS THIS BOOK! IT'S A BEAUTIFUL READ!
This book is absolutley wonderful. It is the autobiography of a very ambitious mountainiering woman. I am not athletic at all but found inspiration here. She was a common person who achieved so much. She makes mountainiering sound so fun and easy. You will feel like you know her and are with her on her exciting travels. You will be happy and sad with her and you will feel like you've been away on a thrilling adventure. I couldn't put it down.
This bouldering guide is truely remarkable. The hand drawings add a unique character to the book not seen in any books of this kind to date. The information here is written from a top notch local's perspective. The classics you find in this book are well mapped and described in text. Other books attempting to copy this original guide have not nearly the overview map quality and descriptive precision seen here, A must buy for any true boulderer.
This book offers the same high quality as Borneman and Lampert's guide to Colorado fourteeners. Unlike many other guidebooks listing routes on mountains within a certain elevation range, this book does not attempt to establish a "peak-bagging" list. Instead, it presents a selection of fun, enjoyable routes on some of Colorado's less-travelled, yet distinctive mountains. It has good maps, route descriptions, maps, and historical information.
I've only been climbing for a month, and this book has taught me so much. It has great color pictures that make it very easy to understand all the climbing jargon that I was quickly confused by at the gym. This book covers what equipment you'll need for different types of climbing, clothing, saftey precautions, indoor, outdoor, bouldering, locations for good climbing, and lots more. There isn't a better book on the market for climbers.
