Although I have read about the "Camp Grant Massacre" in Arizona history books, this is a more in depth look at the background and participants in that event. The book was in very good shape and I will add it to my Arizona history collection.

As a former camper, this book brought back wonderful memories of my experiences as a camper in l949 andl950. It contains a whole section of pictures of the camp , the counslers and campers from the very begining of the camp until the present. It also contains a listing of all the campers for each year and their tribe. I had forgotten so many of the names of my summer friends and this book gave me all their names! I only wish I knew how to get in touch with them today. There is a wonderful history of the camp, a detailed account of many of the counslers, how tribal customs were established and in general,a meticulously documented record of the camp since it was started. I spent one whole weekend day reading the book and my happy summers of '49 and '50 were mine again ! I highly recommend this book to anyone who has attended Waldemar If you would like to be reunited in memory with people like Doris, Shannon, Johnny, moments on Tribal hill, the Ideal girl ceremony, field days and old long forgotten friends, this book will take you back to them!

This book is the most amazing resource for anyone planning a trip to Disney World during a busy (peak season) time. It is loaded with helpful hints about the various resorts, parks, transportation, and dining options. It even offers suggestions about what to pack; from where to view a parade; how to deal with the FASTPASS; Extra Magic Hours. This book will become your "Bible" if you, too, must visit WDW during a peak season.

"The War In The Wards" by Stanley Weintraub. Doubleday & Company,NY 1964.
Stanley Weintraub is a prolific author. Anazon.Com has more than 16 pages, listing articles and books by Stanley Weintraub. Perhaps his most popular recent book has been "Silent Night", (2001), the story of the impromptu Christmas Eve truce in World War I.
When Stanley Weintraub was a young Army officer, he was stationed at a Prisoner of War hospital camp in Korea, while the "Allies" and the Communists were holding truce negotiations at Panmunjom. The hospital was filled with fervent fanatics and with ordinary peasants. The Communists attempted to control them all. There were many "kinds" of prisoners: North Korean who were rabid communists; North Koreans who ordinary peasants drafted into the army; and South Koreans who had been forced to serve in the North Korean Army. POWs with leprosy were segregated for medical reasons. Was this separate leper camp improper according to the Geneva Convention for prisoners? Explanations were required, while the world's press looked on.
The task of the captors, the Americans and South Koreans, was to screen the many prisoners so that the "principle of voluntary repatriation" could be applied. Of course, the rabid communists attempted to force the drafted simple peasants and the impressed South Koreans to opt to return to the "people's paradise" of North Korea. The author relates how certain parts of the hospital/camp reacted to these interviews and how the fanatical Communists attempted to force all prisoners to opt for the "people's paradise".
Personally, last year, I had surgery and the nurse told me she toke out more than forty staples from my stomach. I felt totally helpless. Well, Weintraub describes how North Korean wounded prisoners were uncompromising in their devotion to communism. Double amputees would march around in the camp, on their bandaged leg stumps, (how did they do it??),fervently shouting anti-American slogans and claiming that the Americans were committing atrocities when they cut off food rations to prevent rioting in the camp/hospital. Rock throwing was constant. Riots and captures of the mess halls and medical stations were common. As an Army officer, Weintraub had to deal with the fervent Communists, the less than zealous peasants, and the impressed South Koreans who only wanted to return South of the 38th parallel. All of this frenetic activity took place while the United Nations watched and while the United States higher command (back in occupied Japan) imposed illogical constraints on the soldiers/guards at the site. What a fiasco!
I do not think that the Officer Weintraub had much patience left with the Army Command back in Japan. His frustrations are recorded in this well written book.

I was looking at this book, and can not understand why you have it connected to the book on mind reading, because that is not what it is about.
Constantin Joffe' was my Father-in-law, and a very intellegent man. He was born in Russia, and moved to France as a young man, at that time he joined the Volunteer French Foreign Legion, and went to Germany to fight against Hitler, he was captured, and spent some time in the Consentration Camp, and this Book is the story about what happened to him.
As I said he was very intellegent. He spoke 5 languages, he was suppose to come to the US on the Heindengurg, but, missed the flight because he had to make a trip to the bathroom. But, he eventually made it to the US and became a famous Professional Photographer. He invented the Marborol Man, Hurtz rent a car commercial, Let Hurtz put you in the drivers seat, and did the first Joy dish washing commercial. And many more I am not familiar with. He was a very infulential man in his time.
He moved to Florida in his later years, and died in 1992 with a long bout of Cancer.
So please take this book off of his name, and give him the respect he deserved. His book looks the same, but, the title is not "What's on your mind."
I will appreciate it, and so will the Marborol Man...

Masterfully written memoirs which cover the years 1944-1964 (from Buchenwald to his expulsion out of the Spanish communist party).
A compelling tale with natural mingling of past and present and brilliant associations.
Semprun gives us a memorable picture of the terrible atmosphere in Buchenwald with its different classes of prisoners (based on the functions they exercised), the starvations, the hangings.
Remarkable are his reminiscences of the infightings at the top of the communist parties (e.g. the struggle for the succession of Stalin and the liquidation of Beria, or the cynicism of a Santiago Carrillo), of the relations between the CP's of different countries (Brothers, they said, yes, like Cain and Abel), the sclerosis of the ideology (Hegel and his dialectic used to justify everything necessary to keep the power) and the betrayal of the intellectuals, mesmerized by the power of the omnipotent party.
This book is a bitter confession, where the author looks back at the cruel (physical and mental) past, his own past, with unbelief.
A masterpiece.

A camp director's ideal resource!

This book contains many real-life scenarios from every camping situation imaginable. This is a great training tool for camp counselors and other staff members. Follow-up questions help to expand on the situational content and lead discussion in different directions. As a camp director, I chose the most applicable scenarios to our setting, and counselors found this type of exploration very helpful. Some topics include dealing with homesick campers or those who feel left-out, slacking counselors, overly-affectionate campers/staff, and dealing with job frustration and decision-making issues. Of all the resources I purchased to prepare for the summer session, this was the best investment I made. Every camping program should have at least one copy. Check it out!

This book is more than the memoirs of Bishop Johannes Nenhausler, who was sent to Dachau, from his imprisonment in Berlin, on July 12, 1941 and stayed there until April 24, 1945, but also a history of all that happened there.
Very brutal account by one of the prisoners, Dr. Newhausler. Detailed account and summary of the physical buildings, torture, food, numbers who died, etc. Photos and some diagrams. Highly recommended for historians and those in the medical or military fields.

It's forty below in the Northwest Territories of Canada - so cold the ravens won't fly & Richard can't go outside. He decides to ask his family & friends the question that became the title to this book. Their answers bring a whole other world into light. Brilliantly illustrated by George Littlechild from the Plains Cree Nation, this humorous quest of a youngster's mind during a long winter's day, brings out the silly & the insightful. Makes a lovely gift!

L. Sprague de Camp is one of science fiction's Grand Masters. Every couple of years the Science Fiction Writers of America honor a living author for his/her achievement and influence in the field. De Camp should be read because heritage is important.
The stories are fun, too. Written between 1938 and 1942, these seven tales do not include anything new to a reader of today. Rather, their charm lies in their simplicity. These are people who could be your neighbors; the tales told at the dinner table.
"The Wheels of If"- Alister Park wakes a different man than he was the night before. This difference brings dramatic change in the world around him.
"The Contrababand Cow"- Consumption of beef is illegal.
"Hyperpelosity"- A worldwide epidemic.
"The Gnarly Man"- All Clarence wants is to be left alone, really.
"The Warrior Race"- The alien invasion story.
"The Best Laid Scheme"- The time travel story
"The Merman"- Vernon Brock will do anything to marry his sweetheart.
These are short stories, which some will automatically avoid. The style is different: the pulps of 60 years ago. The language
may seem exaggerated, only to indicate accent or dialect. This collection is worth the while, however. Particularly if you have an interest in our science fiction heritage.
"The folly of trying to judge people by their looks has been pointed out by generations of psychologists and such people. But this form of judgment seems to be ingrained in human folkways. Perhaps that is why Coordinator Ronald Q. M. Bloss underestimated Hedges."-- "The Best-Laid Scheme"
