cautionary romantic suspense thriller
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 6 total.
Review Date: 2006-11-19
Laura Madison runs Big Pine Key RV Resort campsite in the Florida Keys. Last year an unknown individual began sending her gifts and leaving her notes. Recently the individual has become increasingly graphic with clear threats to kill her family, employees, and family so they can be together on Valentine's Day. Urged by her friend, the only other person aware of "Slippery", Laura visits private investigator David Jennings, who feels he has met the woman he will marry.

She does not like his humor or come-ons until he describes exactly her problem. He explains that an erotomaniac stalker distorts reality; he knows first hand as he was the victim of one, who eventually committed suicide. He tells her he will fight dirty to keep her safe, but that they must pretend to be a loving couple to get Slippery out of the shadows. His plans work almost too well when an apparently outraged Slippery angrily tries to burn his beloved and her lover to death. Thus the first salvo in the war has been fired.

The cat and mouse fight takes a backseat to the frightening lucid description of an erotomaniac stalker; bluntly this is good to know, but scary as hell. The story line contains two strong protagonists with David's humorous inner thoughts serving as tension abating asides; however he is very serious when it comes to keeping the woman he loves at first sight safe from a psycho. The efforts to uncover and stop the stalker are action-packed, but once again TROPICAL WARNINGS is a cautionary romantic suspense thriller that pulls no punches when it comes to stalking.

PoundMaker massacres settlers at Frog Lake Saskatchewan
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 1999-10-22
Teresa Gowanlock, a cousin of this writer, records in a diary-like format, her escape from death at the hands of Chief Poundmaker and his fellow Cree. Dragged helpless through endless miles of western overburden, she and her companions are portrayed as the hapless victims of the Natives. It is a book full of emotional-blood letting and a must read for all "family" members and those who would know the full extent of what happened to cause this monumental event in Canadian History. Teresa is not vindictive in her words but neither is she forgiving. She and her family suffered much but were the pawns of a government which held little love for any "force" which stood in its way. Upon her rescue she informed the authorities of her trial and soon set to telling her tale. Like her cousin Laura Secord, she became a part of the historical Canadian fabric and a noble example of all that was the strength of our early ancestors. Another topical book is, "Blood Red, The Sun" which gives a more general view of the massacre and the events surrounding it.

This book was written by my Grandparents. They were both parapelegics from an early stages in their lives. This book should be read by anyone in the medical field or anyone with a disabaility to keep their 'chin up'(part of the book). This book is truely a gem.

An Excellent Addition to Your Library!
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 5 total.
Review Date: 2005-02-12
This book offers a serious, well-informed, insider view of the hotels currently at the avant-garde of interior designing. Many of the properties illustrated represent "la creme de la creme" of the hotel industry in the past decade; and least to say are well worth staying at.

I would particularly recommend this fascinating book to the experienced traveler who takes pride in indulging him or herself in an ambience of exclusiveness and inspiration. A must have!

Frommers Unofficial Guide to the Best Rv and Tent Campground

This guide book is so much better than Trailer Life or Woodall's.
The campground inspections were done without the owner's knowledge and there is no advertising. You want the best camp site, and with this book, you can skip all the ads and biased write-ups
and go right to the best campground. The information given for
each campground is much more complete and easy to read, unlike
the other campground directories.

Good overview of Utah mountains
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2000-03-27
The book describes how to hike basically any Utah mountain range. It's divided according to a particular area, and larger mountain ranges are split into several sections. Kelsey's writing style is quite specific, each section includes a sketched map, several photographs and description of hikes, difficulties, access routes, ... Once you get used to it, though, it is a quick, general and informative reference for anyone who wants to hike Utah mountains. A word of warning, the author is a fast walker, his times are e.g. about 1/2 of those from Vernath's Hiking the Wasatch
