Oh dear God, how could you allow this hell to take place? This book shows us the center of hell, Auschwitz, that killed 2 million innocent Jews. 1/3 of the the 6 mill that perished from that Hitler!!

Another hit by the Holms siblings. My younger child enjoys a graphic novel of her own while my teenager steals it to read also!!! Way to go Babymouse.

I found "Backpack Kitty Goes to Camp" at a Scholastic Book fair, and I knew I had to buy it because 1) I have a cat named Kitty and 2) the idea of carrying a cat in a backpack is very creative and fun. I read the book and was not dissapointed. As a children's writer myself, I found the book well-written with solid word choice and a strong central character. Kids who enjoy playing with their cats should enjoy this book. I can't find any other books about Backpack Kitty, though, which is dissapointing. Was this the only one?

This book is funny because a group of boys go to camp anddecide to trash everybody there. Including the tribe and the nerds.They have a wacky weekend destroying the other campsites in different ways.

This frontier story is a favorite of my preschooler, I think because the two main characters, young girls, confront the fear of "monsters" while gathering flowers for their mother's birthday. The fears of night, being lost, and "monsters" are all addressed in a way that my son finds reassuring. He asks to read this story a lot. It's nice to find a story that doesn't involve commercialized characters with pre-determined story plots. The artistry and text are pleasing for the reader.

This book gives a spectacular view of life as a German Officer in a POW Camp in Crossville, TN. I am currently a student at Tennessee Tech University which is less than an hour away from the former camp. I had never heard of the camp before Mr. Hennes' book. It seems to be a part of U.S. History that has been forgotten. I also had the pleasure of listing to a presentation where he spoke with students and faculty at the school for about 2 hours. His story is so amazing. He gives you that view on life from inside the barbed wire as he shares personal experiences with you. This book helps me understand the war from a new perspective.

Example of Scarry illustration before he honed his style into that which he would become popular. Great drawings of fifties era cars, particulary commercial vehicles: Ice Cream truck, Flower Delivery, etc.

The page depicting a family on vacation is hilariously un-PC: The father is relaxing and smoking his pipe while the wife scrubs a pot at the sink in the camper. Outside, the toddler looks longingly from the confines of his crib as the boy shoots off his toy gun.

This story won't bore anyone easily. . . there are a lot of unique ideas, and very cute!

This summer I volunteered to be the camp nurse for our church camp. One week and one hundred children plus staff. Definitly out of my comfort zone.

I searched the internet and found that there is an association for camp nurse and this book. I ordered it with a basic first aid book.

It gave me a good base and I survived a busy but enjoyable week.
I'm looking forward to volunteering again next year.
