Mostly has the steps needed for routine maintenance. Helpful, but not that great for major repairs. Best used by someone that has some mechanical knowledge.

I bought this book thinking that it would tell me something about the problems I was having with my car. Not knowing that much about cars I was just as clueless after buying it as I was before. Maybe they should put somekind of warning on the cover saying just how much machanical knowhow you need to use this book.

This volume contains even more information than previous Haynes manuals I have used. It contains good, clear photographs of various parts of the car in place and partially dismantled, not just line drawings. I was pleasantly surprised to find information on how to get the "check engine soon" light to go out after changing oil and other service procedures. It also includes a pretty complete set of wiring diagrams. These are things not always found in car repair manuals for the do-it-yourselfer.

Amazon should display the 2004 edition of this book which will have additional information for the newer 2002 Accords. I prefer this Haynes manual over the Chilton's for 98-02 Accords since the Haynes' has more and specific information than the Chilton's which also tried to cover 96-02 models. Most information are more than adquate for standard maintenace and repairs. Body and panels diagrams are helpful for owners who are interested in adding alarm or stereo. Inexpensive book for owners who are interested in knowing specific operations and tuning of their cars.

I bought this book from you guys about a month ago for my '99 accord. Just two days ago I did a brake job myself with the help of this book and it helped me greatly. It had detailed, step-by-step pictures and instructions for the entire procedure. My only gripe is that the instructions for removing the lower panel(to replace AC Filter) on the passenger side dash was a little vague and I ended up breaking it.. but its okay though, I put the panel back and the breakage is not noticeable. Great tips and everything for a person who wants to work on their own car and save some money while doing it.(I've already saved...in labor from doing my AC Filter and brakes myself) Overall a great book. =)

I bought this manual for my 98 Accord. I wanted to remove steering column covers. The instruction said, remove three screws which I did & take out upper half & lower half. But it is not that simple, I ended up breaking my ignition key light.
This book assumes many things. If you are novice like me, it won't help you at all.

This title is good for the beginer who is after a basic working knowledge of day to day repairs and servicing. It is not as detailed as the british Haynes type manuals but still offers many cost and time saving solutions. Those people who are looking for detailed information to enable them to modify or carry out serious repair should be warned that the title may not contain the information desired. Still , a handy reference for basic repair.

I can only be amazed how this book consistently gives large amounts of useless background information (such as the meteorlogical effect that transformes car exaust gases into fog) and fails completelly in giving any useful information. Do you want to find wher the sensor of gasoline level is placed ? Forget about it ! Do you need the electrical wiring diagram of Elantra model 1991 ? This is not the book you're gonna find it in. As a matter of fact, you're not going to find even the specs of the engines that equip the cars that should be covered in the book. Just fluffy, general information, no hard facts, no procedures, no how-to's, no numbers.

I don't know about this book but it makes changing the timing seem complicated. Not too many write ups and not too datailed but its always good to have as many referencesas as possible when you get stuck.

I purchased this book to obtain ideas for performance enhancements on my 93 5.0 LX coupe. The how-to instructions and explantions are clear and precise. I have recommended this book to fellow 5.0 owners.

I have dozens of Ford Mustang performance books and this one particularly is the worst of all. It does not tell you in anyway how to perform these titled projects, all what it tells you is "This is something you can do and it may cost you around this much" so dont expect to find any illustrated steps on how to carry out these projects. They could be OK for somebody who just bought his first Mustang yesterday. So my advice is: look elsewhere. My recommendations for you are these 2 (Ford Windsor Small Block Performance by Isaac Martin), and (Mustang Performance Handbook by William R. Mathis). My personal favorites.

district. It is bigger and has many more photos than the Demsey book but is less portable and fewer line drawings.

I own a couple of repair manuals and this one isn't the best. I'm not much of a mechanic and don't find working with engines easy to do, as do many guys. Thus I've been looking for an engine repair manual which will take me through every step necessary in order to maintain and repair an engine -- this one isn't it (at least not for me). Another reviewer of this book found it to be too simple where as I find that it, like most other books of this nature, assumes the reader knows the jargon and understands the principles fairly well to start with. This book, at least for me, left much to be desired. I don't think it is as good as the Briggs and Stratton manual. It covers more engine types but does so in less detail and with less step by step directives. If you are the type of person who doesn't have a technical mind (and I don't) and doesn't easily understand mechanical devises (and I don't), I'd suggest you look elsewhere.

This is an OK book for someone who is just beginning to repair medium size riding lawnmower engines. Experienced mechanics will find little in the book that they do not already know. Understand that, as one would expect from the title, small chain saw, weed eater, leaf blower, and push mower engines are not covered. The information is limited, pretty elementary and lacking enough detail to help an experienced repair person making major repairs or difficult diagnostics. The number of different brands of engines covered is limited.

Was disappointed this CD did not cover the 1998 Ford Econo Line E-150 Van.
Especially since the description says "Total Car Care CD-ROM: Ford Trucks, SUVs & Vans, 1986-2000". I found the CD description to be deceiving, question this CD further before you buy it to make sure it covers your vehicle.

Overall, I am very satisfied w/the product. The information is great, it covers a vast amount of topics. I did not think it was too user friendly. Somethings were very confusing. As far as information is concerned, I would give the product, 4 out of 5 stars. It could use more illustrations though. I give the product 2 out of 5 stars for its user friendliness or lack there of. Navigating through the CD was pretty simple, but everything else was a little confusing. I can see how it would be difficult for someone to use, if they had limited computer skills.

This product is much better than the Haynes manual I also purchase. There must be at least 10 times as much information in this product. It is no Helms Manual, but for the price and what most people need, it is a great purchase.

The Software isn't the best (modified Acrobat Reader), but it gets the job done. Engine pictures are great. System diagrams are great. System descriptions are great. Very happy with this purchase.

This is a helpful book and a good addition to a persons car care information

Though not as thorough as the Haynes series of books; this offering from Chilton is still an excellent source of information for anybody maintaining their own vehicle.

This book is actual old with new pictures and few edited text. Instruction mostly not comply with mfg manual come with the car. The instructions for basic care & maintenance are same as for other vehicles that was old models from last century. Car owner (not mechanic) needs to know the "new technology" of the car is designed in order to maintain properly, such as how to use Floor Jack to the UniBody to lift car to rotate tire & etc..., where is drain & fill plug for manual transmission oil, type of motor oil and "what if" during the travel incident then what is the temporary alternative, what is torque & preparation such as for wheel lug nuts, technology restriction do & don't, and many more need to know for the new car of the 21 century. Some of the instruction are instructed with no dimensions such as head light alignment. This book is seem like "thumb rule" through experience with not much of engineering fact translation so we can do the work properly. Sumarize of the book: Just a blah blah blah mostly thumb rule book, waste of money.

If you have ever washed a car before, this book is not for you. This book is made for someone who has never washed a car in there life. I am still shopping for a more advanced book, this is not it. Very good for a beginner though.

There are a few good tricks revealed in this book. Proper techniques are detailed. I love keeping my car looking new - this book recommends some methods for doing so.

If you been around cars most of this is just common sense with some good tips. Not a book I would keep maybe just read and share with others. B-

This is published by Taschen, and thus it is an "art" book, not a "car" book. Think of it as a mini-coffee-table volume: something to sit atop a hardbound Andy Warhol tome, for guests to thumb through or for a dose of nostalgia. If you want details on cars, manufacturers, etc. this probably isn't what you are looking for. However, for nicely reproduced images for their own sake, or for a feel for what advertising was all about during a period of recent history, this does a pretty nice job.

This is one of those cheap international books that isn't even published in America! I feel robbed. The text is in English however the introduction is in multiple languages, which, in my opinion takes away from what I thought would be a book on the splendor of American steel. I was also most interested in reading the actual text of the ads and the books was so small that reading the text proved difficult quite often.

While these books would make a good inexpensive gift for an automobile enthusiast or graphic artist/advertising executive friend, I would hesitate to add them to my own library. Be careful of all books produced under Jim Helmann as all are like this and are foreign produced.

As a Fiat afficiando I am always excited when a book comes out since there are far less published works than with many other makes of cars. Basically a picture book with limited text and information I also couldn't figure out if there was any logic as to how the book was formatted. For example not unitl halfway into the book was there any biographical information about Carlo Abarth and that was just three paragraphs.
Extremely disappointing. Save your 15 dollars.

Here's a car buff's specialty item indeed: a survey of FIATs modified by Abarth, pairing original photos of such productions by photographer David Sparrow with text by Andrea Sparrow. While historical background and technical insights are given, it's the color photos that create an outstanding and rare production here. You won't see this in most general-interest public lending library collections, which is too bad: even though its topic is quite narrow, the visuals hold appeal for a wider audience than simply Fiat fans.
