This book has helped me save some serious time, as I am not an automotive guru. It has also cut down on the amount of trips to the parts store. It could have been organized better, and it should have gone into more detail.

I tried to get a manual from Chilton, but they never had one for my model and year car. Thanks to the Haynes manual I can do most basic services on my car like brakes, belts, tune-ups. etc. and save money from taking it to the shop. The steps are easy to follow, but there could be more pictures. You also need to have above average mechanical skills to understand how to do many of the procedures.

Rusted cars your thing, here you go

If rusted cars are your thing, here you go. I can't get into it myself but I purchased this as a present. Perhaps theres not many rusted cars to choose from (as I'm sure compacting and recycling is very popular now) but I think the photos were a litte bit on the average side but lets face it, this is a one-of-a-kind subject matter, take it or leave it.

This book is excellent for the Honda enthusiast. It is a little out of date. And maily suited to Honda N/A (naturaly aspirated)performace, although it does have some info on turbo setup's. The information in this book is mainly gathered from the racetrack s so it is fairly informative. It mainly covers Honda's from the 80's civic, crx, integra, prelude. I recomend this book for honda owners that are looking for some N/A performace tips.

A Great Little How-to Book!

A simple, concise set of instructions really help the novice keep his/her car looking new. The author obviously knows his craft and has tried hard to share his knowledge in this great little booklet.

A Nice Collection of Articles
Helpful Votes: 19 out of 19 total.
Review Date: 2000-06-16
This book is a collection of articles, with accompanying advertisements, from "Jaguar Enthusiast" magazine. It covers the major areas from body work, to suspension, to engine, drive train, and exhaust.

I used this book more as a guide to the steps that must be completed. It is not a detailed account of each overhaul. When accompanied by a Jaguar Repair Operation Manual and a Jaguar Parts Catalog, you wind up with almost all of the documentation you need.

Note: This car is most helpful for restoring Jaguar Series I, II, and III cars built from the early '70s through the late '80s. Though some of the information may be useful, this book does not cover newer models of the XJ40 and beyond.

And I thought *my* job was rough
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 1998-08-08
A well-written shop-floor view of the Japanese auto industry in the mid-to-late 1970's, when Japan's automakers were struggling to meet America's demand for small cars during the oil crisis.

Kamata worked as a contract employee on the assembly line of a Toyota factory and tells of 12-to-16 hour shifts six days a week, managers who increased production quotas beyond the limit of human endurance with no regard to safety, and the consequenses of a draconian employment contract.

Compare this to Ben Hamper's "Rivethead," which provides a similar (more humorous) shop-floor view of the auto industry during approximately the same era, but at a GM Plant in Flint, Michigan.

Bart Vanderveen is the authority on Military vehicles. As a result of that The Jeep is a "must have" item for the owner or future owner of a Willy's, Ford etc Jeep of the Second World War. A lot of technical details are explained with a lot of pictures. Ideal to know the difference between the MB or GPW and (post-war)Hotchkiss.

Not a lot of in depth information about Jeeps but a lot of really great photos. It basically starts each section with a quick history on the model and then shows profiles of people's Jeeps and it lists what they've done to them. Then it has pictures of them climbing rocks and trail riding. Mainly information on different types of Wranglers, it has two short chapters on Cherokees and newer Jeeps like the Liberty.

Jurgen Schrempp's DaimlerChrysler
Helpful Votes: 9 out of 9 total.
Review Date: 2000-07-10
Here is an excellent book on the man who heads DaimlerChrysler. The book tracks his systematic rise from an apprentice at DaimlerChrysler to its CEO. The book gives an excellent insight into the experiences, hard work and the lucky breaks that shaped the future of Schrempp.

The book is very informative but at times one feels that the continuity from one chapter to another is rather disjointed. While the book is packed with annecdotes and insights it lacks the page turning ability of the other book on DaimlerChrysler by Bill Vlasic.
