This book has helped a lot, but it does not define the tools needed clear enough. I would also like to see more step by step pictures.

Great explanation of engine teardown, machining, parts selection, cleaning and assemble. Good information on improvements. Well worth the price.

This book should never be used by itself, since it is far too vague as it covers far too many models. The walk-throughs of how to disassemble and reassemble are filled with issues since this tries to cover so many different versions of the same car that it becomes confusing. The pictures are generally bad too. I do, however recommend buying this book if you have the official ford service manual, since this book offers information and pictures that aren't in that book, so they compliment eachother well. The most valuable thing in this book is the part about reading your car's computer with a multimeter.

A good, well-written, understandable repair guide. The layout is good, and the index is useable. Photographs and illustrations make identification of parts easier. Step by step instructions make repairs easier to understand and perform.

This is an excellent resource IF YOU WANT TO TAKE A ROAD TRIP. All the routes are written for those who are going to be driving from place to place. If your plan is not to drive then you may want to consider the National Geographic Traveler (California. It has more information about more places and activiies.

I didn't give this book enough respect when I first got it. I was more into the "deep" guidebooks I'd ordered, with depth of history and cultural context, food recommendations, architecture tips, etc.

But when I got to Italy for a week-long stay in Tuscany with a rental car, this slim volume of car tours took pride of place by my bedside at night and on my dashboard by day. When I was on the ground on vacation, and plans changed day by day, it was great to have a simple reference that just showed where to go.

The itineraries are clear, well-illustrated, and with good capsule descriptions both of road directions and of the way points along the route. I didn't complete any of the "tours" shown in the book, but used portions of the tours in each area of Tuscany that we went to (from Sienna to hill towns to Pisa/Lucca) to guide us to points of interest near every major destination that we aimed for. That's the point of renting a car, isn't it? This book gave us -- simply and clearly -- the valuable ability to wander into wonderful smaller sights every day.

Highly recommended.

Haynes continues to help me with all my mechanical issues. This guide will prove to be invaluable in the months ahead.

Haynes says this book is a documented total rebuild of one of these cars, specifically, a 1988 Buick SkyHawk Custom equipped with the Chevy 2.0L engine. If you're looking for information and directions on rebuilding one of these cars, don't look at this book.

The coverage of 'special' things is limited or nil, especially the Chevrolet 2.0L 4Cyl turbocharged engine that was installed in the SkyHawk Sports. They briefly cover only the fuel rails, and don't even mention the turbocharger itself. But if you need a crash course in repairing the 2.0L 4Cyl, or working on the rest of the car, you won't find an easier to use book. :)

The author of the book is Gil Vicente, its name is Auto da barca do inferno, this book has a happy and interesting story, I liked it very much, and i think you will like it too. I recommend it for people who have bad-humored.

I found this book to be helpful in taking on small tasks such as doing your own brakes. In all, I would estimate this book saved me a few hundred dollars in repairs this year versus what I would have spent at the dealership or the local repair shop. (I was really upset when I found out how SIMPLE it is to replace disc brake pads) However, I would not use this manual for serious work, such as engine overhauls. In essence, this book is great for doing brakes, belts, spark plugs and minor troubleshooting. I would not depend on it for anything beyond such activities. Some of the chapters discuss engine overhauls and replacing struts. These are two pretty dangerous activities that the book sort of glazes over. They should have just left those things to the logic of "let somebody else seriously injure themselves doing this stuff".

It would have been nice for Haynes to include the Cadillac engine computer trouble codes, but you have to buy a seperate Haynes manual to get those.
