No person or subject is sacred in this satirical sampler -- from our leading statesmen:

"A politician is an arse upon
which everyone has sat except a man."

To the world's favorite cities:

"Cambridge people rarely smile
Being urban, squat and packed with guile."

To the season of joy (and humbug):

"May all my enemies go to hell,
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel."

In his foreword to The Devil's Book of Verse, Willard Espy writes, "The soul has few consolations to match an elegantly turned epithet. Mr. Conniff provides us with a whole devil's garden of them..."

The critics also like The Devil's Book of Verse:

"A positive fireworks display of vituperative wit." - Atlantic Monthly

"A joy to dip into when the world is too saccharine for irascible man to bear"
- LA. Times
"I laughed out loud." -Newsday

Some call it madness, I call it love

Delicious! Now that the author's first novel is available all around the world - translated (thank you, Mrs. Richter-Bernburg!) - you should move into the next bookshop and buy it! Or visit a 'Goethe-Institut' nearby, chances are more than good, that they offer a copy. Seriously, reading on Harry von Duckwitz's adventures from the late sixties to german reunion is both, lot of fun and some very subjective overview about not only diplomatic pursuits, but also love, love and love. When you've finished it, please find someone to translate his two follow-ups or go and learn german, but read them, too! The only reason why I gave a 9, but not a 10 is, that the german original is even better! I love Westphalen's novel(s), and I really think, you will love them by heart! Guido Grigat, Germany

For anyone wondering why Pigpen is always surrounded by a cloud of dust - the answer(s) can be found in this book. I have always been a Peanuts fan and saw this book sitting in the children's section at the public library. I am buying it for my collection right now! There are a few other strips in the book but Pigpen is the main character. Cute, cute, cute and a fun read for all Peanuts fans.

My husband and I purchased these ( both Do you know your groom & Do you know your bride) shortly after getting married. They were entertaining and left us feeling informed and good that we knew so much about each other. We giggled a lot...well my husband chortled and I giggled :). Since then we have purchase several sets of these for couples as wedding gifts. They are the perfect activity for that plane ride to a honeymoon destination.

Hilarious Send-up of the Dinosaur Craze

If you love satire, parodies or just a good belly-laugh, this book is for you. Dodosaurs - The Dinosaurs That Didn't Make It, is a gut-busting lampoon of the scientific and not-so-scientific gibberish that surrounds and permeates our fascination with things that went bump in the night a long time ago, mostly from falling down and breaking their collective necks.

From the tiny but deadly Tikyltikyltikyl to the terrifying Tryonasaurus Rex, these not so terrible lizards will have you quaking with laughter as you examine their oh-so-slow development and oh-so-merciful extinction.

Written in near comic-book style (exquisitely appropriate)this over-sized soft-cover volume is full of fascinating full-color illustrations, giving you an artists-eye view of the world of the Dodosaurs. How they came to be, how they lived and how they ever managed to survive as long as they did will make for hours of delightful reading, and may shed just a little light on some of the silliness of our own "advanced" civilization.

So, forget about the T-Rex's, the Raptors, the Brachiosaurs and all those other Saurs, and sit back with some really amazing critters, the wonderful Dodosaurs.

I grabbed a copy of this book acoupla' years ago, and I've loved it ever since. Not so much used for actual revenge, this book has been more a resource for my (sometimes bizarre) art projects, 'cuz it contains a wealth of useful info. I will admit that it DOES make good fodder for revenge fantasies, however. Its almost as much fun fantasizing about how this book could be used to do evil to those that 'done one wrong' as it is fantasizing about what you'd do w/the money when you've bought a lottery ticket.

Anyhoo...I'd highly reccomend picking up a copy of this lil' jewel of a tome- -if the only thing you use it for is revenge/revenge fantasies, you'd still get more than your investment outta' it.
