Book is an inadequate description. I like the term manuscript. Lately I've been having a problem with my neck--Dr. Golf has an answer.Sometimes I have a problem with my soul--Dr. Golf has an answer. The ultimate endeavor will survive the latest aberations of hype. Dr. Golf must continue to publish.

What A Real Male Should Have on the Best Dressed Bookshelf!

Notice: To any man who has ever wondered out loud: Why me???

Read about the lives, thoughts and observations of three men (a Father, a Son and another son--not by blood, but by sweat and tears!)

This is the treatise on masculinity, and all its twists and turns. If you ever thought about it, but never expressed it, this work will leave you laughing out loud, gasping for air, and rubbing your belly in great glee, at the insights, adventures, and comical carryings-on of three regular "guys" like all of us.

A Must-READ for all Baby Boomer Guys, and WWII sorts.

Raves for the Da Vinci Mole
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 9 total.

From the Dallas Morning News:

In the giggle-inducing tradition of Harvard Lampoon's Bored of the Rings, this is a parody, down to the name of the author.

It nails the factors that make the original so annoying and yet so successful: lots of meaningless physical details, ancient conspirators (including a few that even Dan Brown missed), leaden dialogue, improbable plot twists and a couple of puzzles that are pretty clever.

There's no actual "spoiling" of this plot, so you won't mind knowing that The Da Vinci Mole includes Karl Rove, aliens, Scientology, codes found in Jackson Pollock paintings and a bit of gratuitous sex.

The book also pulls off a brilliant emperor-has-no-clothes dismissal of the original:

"But what if we spend many days and risk countless dangers tracking down this secret, only to have it turn out to be a secret that your grandfather never wants revealed anyway and so our efforts would be pointless?"

"That would be absurd, Hank," Saphie replied. "That would make no sense at all."

Perfect.

Im really into humor books, and I was searching around Amazon to select a book to read for reading class in school. So, as I was searching I found this book and ordered it. It was a really awesome book, and it makes you laugh outloud. I almost peed my pants. I don't regret getting this book, and I think everyone should have a chance reading it.

No person or subject is sacred in this satirical sampler -- from our leading statesmen:

"A politician is an arse upon
which everyone has sat except a man."

To the world's favorite cities:

"Cambridge people rarely smile
Being urban, squat and packed with guile."

To the season of joy (and humbug):

"May all my enemies go to hell,
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel."

In his foreword to The Devil's Book of Verse, Willard Espy writes, "The soul has few consolations to match an elegantly turned epithet. Mr. Conniff provides us with a whole devil's garden of them..."

The critics also like The Devil's Book of Verse:

"A positive fireworks display of vituperative wit." - Atlantic Monthly

"A joy to dip into when the world is too saccharine for irascible man to bear"
- LA. Times
"I laughed out loud." -Newsday

Some call it madness, I call it love
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.

Delicious! Now that the author's first novel is available all around the world - translated (thank you, Mrs. Richter-Bernburg!) - you should move into the next bookshop and buy it! Or visit a 'Goethe-Institut' nearby, chances are more than good, that they offer a copy. Seriously, reading on Harry von Duckwitz's adventures from the late sixties to german reunion is both, lot of fun and some very subjective overview about not only diplomatic pursuits, but also love, love and love. When you've finished it, please find someone to translate his two follow-ups or go and learn german, but read them, too! The only reason why I gave a 9, but not a 10 is, that the german original is even better! I love Westphalen's novel(s), and I really think, you will love them by heart! Guido Grigat, Germany
