The book is a collection of every fact you would ever want to know about Chicago, split up into 20+ categories such as "Academics", "On-Campus Dining," "Night Life", "Off-Campus Housing" et cetera.
Along with all the important facts (in "Off-Campus Dining" the section includles the names, addresses, and a brief description of nearly every restaurant in Hyde Park), there are also quotes from current and former students, and then one page of commentary by the author, followed by a letter grade given by the author (a student at Chicago) and the editor.
Full disclosure: I'm the author. And while I'd love for you to simply buy the book, I'd rather you know exactly what it is you'll be getting so that you can make an informed decision.

Princeton Architectural Press has finally produced a volume in this series up to the standards we expect from them. Past volumes have been plagued with problems: Lack of historical context, pompous and politically correct archispeak, mundane or incomplete photography, overemphasis of unrealized campus plans and lack of complete coverage. This iteration eliminates those problems and brings us a truly lovely survey of a beautiful university, with exceptional aerial and interior photography, insightful essays (without being written in "art-catalog arcane"), complete coverage of the grounds and neighborhood and an appropriate level of historical context. Lets hope that the series continues at this more rigorous standard.

A Very Thorough Review

This book gave a very through overview of what the UD community is like. There are a lot of interesting facts about student life that aren't included in the UD promotional literature like how much people party, and how many people take drugs versus spend all their time studying. It is especially nice to know where all of the restaurants and hang-outs are for college kids before you get to town. This made my tour of the town a lot more interesting. Walking down main street during the day I could pick out the places where college students partied at night and walk into different shops that were mentioned in the book. It is nice to see something and already have a reference bank of information in your head, almost like I already live here! I also found that the rating for attractiveness is completely warranted! I've visited some other campuses, and this one is really attractive, people take pride in their appearance! I'm glad I bought this book, it gave me a feel of what it would be like to be a student before I decided to enroll. It is really hard to get a sense of atmosphere from the promotional brochures the University sends out, and this book really cut through all of that to give me the truth! Definetely buy this book if you are considering going to UD!

This book gives a great inside look at Denver. I'd recommend it to anyone who's looking for a college. It's got academic stats and lots of data of that sort, but the main focus is the student quotes that give you a perspective on things like campus dining and nightlife that you just can't find anywhere else.

What do you keep in a vault? Treasures? Well, this vault contains treasures for the Bulldog fan! I bought three of these and the recipients were very happy with the gift! Loren Smith is a well-known Georgia 'landmark' and has been Larry Munson's sideline sidekick for years. I can still hear Larry Munson saying, "How about it, Loren?" He has compiled a wonderful collection to bring the history of Georgia football alive for all who read it. Thanks, Loren!

This hot little book is a fun gift idea for U of I alum, or just Illini Fans. It has actual photographs of the campus, sporting venues, and atheletes, as well as a place to insert the child's picture in the back, wearing a cap and gown (as if to suggest the child will be a future grad from U of I).
I work in a children's bookstore, and we sell these on a consistent basis! Check out other university's versions of this book, published by Michaelson Entertainment (those guys are genius!)

Nice little informative peace on UMaine that filled in a good portion of the gaps that orientation and campus tours left empty.

So, where do you want to spend the next four years of YOUR life? This book is both inspirational and motivational, as it will inspire its readers to become a "Terp" for a moment, minute, or even an hour, and motivate those who are seriously considering one of the best schools in the United States to actually visit University of Maryland's College Park campus. This is clearly one of the best resources out there available to those students who have had even the slightest thought of attending UM. Have you ever asked yourself, "Would I consider going to Maryland?" If so, get your hands on a copy of this book. It will immediately influence your decision and make you either begin to fall in love with the campus, introduce you to a pretty cool school that you may or may not consider in the future, or allow you to quickly consider your other options.
Additionally, it's also an excellent "down-to-earth" guide for supportive families, counselors, mentors, and friends who care about the students in their lives. Wouldn't any loving person who is concerned about a student's well being want to know what this delightful University is all about and share that information with the student? Get this: the guide is an even better resource for those that actually decide to attend UMCP in the future as well as every single student currently enrolled. (This includes those resourceful and trained Resident Assistants! Yes, the book is that good, and a great complementary guide to the R.A. Manual.) Last but not least, this book also makes a thoughtful gift to anyone affiliated with the University, its campus, and the College Park area.
Please Note: while the book is well written, witty, and quite an enjoyable read, it is the most entertaining College Prowler guide in the series. It's a funny, informational book that will play a role in affecting the rest of one's life and pays for itself given the amount of time, effort, and resources it saves by being a truly informational, lifelong companion. As long as it's with the reader, it will never go to waste - even after graduation.

Schaeffer's text is just what was needed. Rick writes as a fan because he IS one. He's also smart enough to know when not to say too much.
The book starts at the beginning and ends with the hiring of Bobby Petrino. There are pictures that most of us never saw. One of a player from the 50's dressed as Santa with a cigar in one hand a stocking in the other and a coed in short shorts on his lap.
LOST OF FUN in this book. If you like the Razorbacks you'll love this book.
