The author of this book has no original ideas of his own. As far as the facts goes he simply borrowed thoughts and insight from other books and articles . I believe this author is much to lazy to go and do any original research on his own. This book does not offer one original theory or bit of information about the history of sports. The author blames the "man" for all the problems that have ever occurred in sports and society at large. The book suggests when a person fails it must have been from an elaborate plot by the "man". Oppression of the black athlete in the past did occur and is a terrible truth. However, where Lomax leaves reality is when he lectures on how the "man" is still behind the scenes oppressing all minorities in sports today. Instead of a focus on the success and achievements of minorities in sports, he only focuses on the negative and how the "man" is out to get everyone with a skin color other than white. The concept that hard work equals success is foreign to the author, this book is a joke and a waste of time. Tacky and un-original.

"Draw what you see not what you think you see" is the phrase Ronald Swanwick uses when teaching. Unfortunately this flat and relatively dull book goes against that completely. Throughout the book he teaches people how to draw to his particular style - rather than introducing them to the concept of art.
The pages are filled with extremely bland pictures which quite frankly could have been drawn by a 2 year old for all the difference it makes.
He doesn't use a wide range of colours in the few colour pictures he does. In fact if any of his pictures ever are in colour, beginner artists will be shocked to "learn" that clouds do not have colour in them. They are either white or in very rare cases grey. Overall this is a very poorly written and presented book which has been written by a very bad artist and quite frankly you would be better off spending your money on a book which lets you decide how you want to draw pictures yourself.

This is a book of definitions, which are used in Craking the GRE Biology Subject Test, which is another book sold separately! May as well just start reading the glossary to Introductory Biology text books.

I am so dissapointed with this book. The title "Step-by-Step Painting with Wyland" had me thinking I was going to have some insight in how Wyland creates his masterpieces. I was going to practice some of the techniques from the book on a mural I will be painting this summer. Needless to say the title of the book does not correlate with what is inside. It should be titled "Step-by-Step painting with Amy Runyen." Thats right, she is the illustrator who paints all of the paintings in the book, and I gaurantee not one book would of been sold if it was titled that. They threw Wylands's name on the front and have pawned off cheap step by step watercolor illustrations those fools like me. I'm probably more mad at myself for not researching into who the illustrator was, but even the Amazon description and the back of the book says "Now anyone can re-create Wyland's world-famous marine life paintings!" All lies.

I give this book one star because it has a bit of use if you have no knowledge of Acrylic and Watercolor painting techniques. I will give it away to a student who needs to work on their painting techniques. But it does not give anyone insight on how to re-create Wyland's realistic art. The book doesn't even talk about the tools and techniques for painting murals. Very dissapointed!
