You know how some coffee table books are too pretty to throw out but not quite pretty enough to look at again? About 2 pages in I felt like this was not pretty enough to look at the first time. Clean black line drawings adrift from context cannot be colored into being interesting. What may have the scintillation and fun lacking here is behind-the-hand gossip about how this tarted-up, over-priced art book got published in the first place. Although that's probably a dreary story, too, judging by these results. Precious. Tired. Disappointing.

Instead of giving teachers lots of wonderful ideas on integrating writing and art, Ernst gives the reader a case study about how she developed this system. It is remarkable and wonderful that it happened as well as it did, and much praise must be given to Ernst for her efforts. This book may be good for researching novel approaches in education or, as the blurb states, for preservice teachers, but for well-seasoned, creative educators, who are sick of wading through case studies, just looking for super ideas, there's nothing here.

I found this book, or perhaps booklet is the correct term, to be disappointing. Most of the drawings look like they have been churned out specifically for this publication. They also look like they have been blown-up from smaller images. It would have been helpful if the dimensions of the original drawings were given as well as titles. I actually own a couple of original drawings by Todd. The subtlety of his work is lost in the images in this book. The small format does not do them justice.

I have respect for Ned Davis as an analyst and this led to me buying his book.What a disappointment.Only 70 pages and the rest meaningless page after page of charts.I believe it is misleading to advertise a book of 188 pages and then only have 70 pages of content!! Buyer beware

This book did not contain much information, only 70 pages of text. The rest of the book being made up of a series of graphs.

The author frequently referred in the book to subscription research services he offers, as if the book was an advert.

I was disappointed with this book.

First let me say, Ned Davis Research does excellent work. I was hoping to get some insight into the types of research his company uses. But I'm sorry to say I can not recomend this book to anyone but those completely unfamiliar with sentiment analysis. Only the basics are covered. Over half of the book is stock charts showing fundamental variables (I thought this was about sentiment?) and is a waste of space. He does say he is using these variables as a measure of investor sentiment but maybe they could have used a handful of charts as examples, not over half a book that is only 170 pages long.

Buyer beware...the book is padded in large part by graphs and data. The actual chapters are short and can be covered in a day...This is a beginner's book with little insights...Professional stay away!

THIS IS THE MOST RIDICULOUS INSTRUCTION BOOK EVER!looking at the blurb,you would think the book is full of demos on coloring flowers,but it is untrue!it has only a mere 3 demos and is a pathetically short book.don't waste your money on it!!!!!

This is a lovely book, but sadly too many photos without 'step by step' instructions that can replicate them. The few instructions that were given were very helpful. I would just like to get an instruction book that allows you to replicate a number of photos however.

I was extremely disappointed with this book. I do not know enough negative words to describe it!!!

This was a very disappointing purchase. I did not realize, first of all, that the entire contents of this item fit into a box that is roughly the size of a cigarette pack. The finished product, using the paint by numbers system, was completely horrible looking. I do not recommend this product.

Bought this thinking it would be a neat thing for my kids. They both enjoy art a great deal. The box is about 2.5" x 3' and everythings fits inside that box. The "painting" that is supposed to be painted is on commercial grade paper so it has a glossy coat. They paints are waterbased and inferior, can't paint it. The picture to be painted is smaller than a small postcard. Worthless! Don't bother. The weight of the pkg is mostly the small book that gives a history of paint by number... not the picture.

Bland does not adequately connect the medieval and the modern, leaving a gap between the two periods. Further, he is clearly more adept at analyzing the medieval period as his discussion of the modern lacks the same level of critical penetration. In sum, I found Bland's book to be bland.

"Draw what you see not what you think you see" is the phrase Ronald Swanwick uses when teaching. Unfortunately this flat and relatively dull book goes against that completely. Throughout the book he teaches people how to draw to his particular style - rather than introducing them to the concept of art.
The pages are filled with extremely bland pictures which quite frankly could have been drawn by a 2 year old for all the difference it makes.
He doesn't use a wide range of colours in the few colour pictures he does. In fact if any of his pictures ever are in colour, beginner artists will be shocked to "learn" that clouds do not have colour in them. They are either white or in very rare cases grey. Overall this is a very poorly written and presented book which has been written by a very bad artist and quite frankly you would be better off spending your money on a book which lets you decide how you want to draw pictures yourself.

This is a book of definitions, which are used in Craking the GRE Biology Subject Test, which is another book sold separately! May as well just start reading the glossary to Introductory Biology text books.
