This book is a classic on the subject:Review Date: 2004-06-08
Sometimes we don't inherit a curse--sometimes we invite it into our lives through opening doors to sin, or even unforgiveness.
This book is helpful to give to people to give an overview of the power of a curse over someone's life, and the even GREATER POWER of Jesus Christ to break the bonds of Satan.
If you have a dark cloud over your head or something that recurs, then consider that there might be a generational curse that is keeping you from overcoming in this area. I have seen people who have repeated calamities such as accidents, many people die prematurely in a family, and many other types of oppression and depression. Suicide is a spirit - if someone is being seduced into commiting suicide they are battling a demon of curse. I have personally cast a spirit of suicide out of people and they no longer felt that overwhelming impulse to end their life.
I would recommend this book, and then looking through other books on the same subject. Amazon.com sells quite a few. Also, even though I don't like every single thing that Bob Larsen does in his ministry, I have met the man and helped out at his conferences, and he really does do a good work. Check out his website at www.boblarsen.org, I believe. He has "Spiritual Freedom Conferences" in many areas of the country, and also deliverance teams in many major cities. He also has a lot of books, videos and cassettes that can help you.
But first, get this book! It's very inexpensive and a classic for the shelf!

Above all else, this book will make you feel a lot better about yourself, knowing that there are so many much sillier people out there who might actually believe this hokum. But it is also scary, in that they might be your neighbors.

Churchmen SHOULD Pay Attention to Freer.Review Date: 1998-09-25
Freer knows that Zechariah Sitchin's interpretation is masterful when he shows readers just how much the pharoahs knew--that we imagine was "discovered" in the last 100 years. Freer is a perfect student of Sitchin's. He reads out the implications of facing a realization that astronaut "gods" (from Nibiru) engineered the Adam and Eve whose genetic tracers all humanity has carried for more than 200,000 years.
Archeology is fast becoming a "futures" science...as the orbit of Nibiru brings it back toward our planet. Some suppose we will live long enough to see it through a telescope. Others fear its "ships" will precede it.
Let your children learn Sumerian, if they won't memorize Sitchin and cherish Freer.

the habit change workbook. How to break bad habits and form good onesReview Date: 2007-04-01
developing better habitsReview Date: 2007-03-09
unnecessary for simple habitsReview Date: 2006-05-29
The method is as follows: First, it is probably necessary to consciously make some kind of effort to stop the habit---e.g. biting your nails. So if you realize you're about to bite them, or have just started biting them, then consciously prevent yourself or stop immediately. But, as everyone knows, the willpower method by itself is usually unsuccessful. The idea is to choose some kind of personal forfeit as "punishment" for the behavior in question. Then, whenever you realize that you have just bitten your nails, you perform the forfeit. (Of course it's necessary to consciously realize you've bitten your nails, after the fact; but one usually does realize this when one is trying to break the habit---the problem is you don't realize it until it's already too late.)
The forfeit can be anything that is (1) something you would typically NOT want to do at random times on a moment's notice; (2) not so onerous that you might actually refuse to do it from sheer laziness; (3) not, in itself, potentially habit-forming; (4) can be done anywhere, at any time. Examples of forfeits I have tried or considered are: (a) going to a dictionary, finding a word that is new to you, and learning its meaning; (b) multiplying two two-digit numbers together in your head; (c) choosing a random date and calculating its day of the week in your head (using Conway's Doomsday algorithm); (d) making yourself listen to a particular song you hate, in its entirety; (e) doing ten pushups. Although I haven't tried it, (a) is nice since it has the side-effect of improving yourself in some way while breaking the habit; but it requires that you always keep a dictionary handy.
The single most important thing in applying this method is not to cheat and not to delay. That is, every time you bite your nails---even if you just started to---immediately perform the forfeit (or at least do so within a minute or so). Do not delay, or "pretend to yourself that you did the forfeit", or save up multiple forfeits and do them all at once, later, when it's more convenient.
You will quickly find that the sneaky brain becomes aware of the fact that every time it unconsciously decides you should bite your nails, your conscious mind will come in and make it do some work it doesn't particularly want to. This makes you become aware of the habit before you actually do it, and gives you time to choose not to. After some time, you will stop wanting to at all and the habit is broken. (This method also works for instilling positive habits, e.g. brushing your teeth within ten minutes of dinner---just do the forfeit when you realize it has been more than ten minutes and you haven't yet brushed your teeth.)
This cure does not, of course, address any root causes of the habit.
Hope this helps and makes buying a book unnecessary for some people. Others, who want to change more complex behaviors may find The Habit Change Workbook a valuable resource. Good luck!
A Personal Lifesaver!Review Date: 2002-03-09
This excellent workbook will teach you how to deal with behaviors such as nail biting, skin picking, trichotillomania and addiction in regards to shopping, tv, internet, and gambling. Also focuses on changes in sleep habits, health & fitness, and relationship problems. They state the book can assist with obsessive compulsive disorder with further help.
For chemical dependency issues, you are advised to seek professional help first and then use the workbook for overall lifestyle changes.
This workbook could not have come at a better time for me. I've been working out for 6 months and out of the blue it is no longer fun and I'm now beginning to gently slide into my old workaholism pattern. I know that my old gym schedule needs to be changed and at the same time my work load at home has increased dramatically and I feel lost on how to organize my life and get myself motivated to get back to the gym and fight my workaholism.
The workbook comes with just exactly what I need. Help in changing my thoughts and requires me to come up with a plan of action. For me, it has been a lifesaver and the timing could not have been more perfect. I recommend it!
If you're seriousReview Date: 2006-04-12
The book is full of worksheets and record charts - it seems 50/50 in terms of lecture/practical application. If you are into that, fine. At first, that put me off. I didn't want to write that much stuff down. But when I got further into the nuts and bolts of changing the habit, the pages I wanted to copy became greater and greater because the ideas and exercises were so thought-provoking and led me to eye-openers and ideas of how to change my life that I couldn't seem to grasp before.
I don't know if I'll use this system step-by-step, but the good thing about the book is that I believe it still works and is an invaluable tool for self-examination whether you follow it that way or not.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the beginning was a bit tedious for an impatient self-starter like myself and to warn those who don't want to do any self-examination and just want a lecture to check this out at the library first. Otherwise, I really think that you cannot lose by having this book and I'm glad I'll have it in my library for years to come.

Simple Book About Understanding And Overcoming NESReview Date: 2006-08-05
This is a simple, but thorough book about Night Eating Syndrome, a quick read (only 167 pages), but full of information. It starts out with assistance in evaluating if you have NES...however, I think that this book would be helpful to anyone who overeats at night, whether or not they fit all of the criteria for NES.
It includes chapters on how to rule out other eating disorders and physical disorders, the biology and psychology behind night eating, hormonal involvement in night eating, types of night and eating and suggestions/plans for overcoming each. The interventions are pretty predictable, but still helpful, including journaling, imagery, relaxation, and other behavioral interventions. Support, medications, perseverance, and Internet resources are also discussed.
All in all I thought it was a fine, easy to understand book about a little-discussed disorder just now coming to public attention.

A Mysterious SmorgasbordReview Date: 2008-08-26
Early one morning, the body of Admiral Penistone is found floating in a boat adrift on the river, a stab wound clear in his chest. Inspector Rudge arrives on the scene to begin his investigation and immediately meets with several obstacles: most importantly that several people who may be involved with the case act in an extremely suspicious manner. The Admiral's niece, who needed her uncle's approval for her marriage, runs off to London after learning of his death. The vicar, with whom the Admiral dined, is certainly withholding information; after all, it was the vicar's boat that the body was found in. Inspector Rudge knows that there is more than meets the eye, and is also convinced that some incident in the Admiral's past is connected to his murder. But how can he prove it when nothing is as it seems? He even begins to wonder if the dead man was the real Admiral Penistone - stranger things had happened.
"The Floating Admiral" is a novelty among mystery stories. The prologue written by G.K. Chesterton seems extremely obtuse until the entire plot is explained at the end. The story coheres well and the events are sustained, in spite of the fourteen authors' hands that stirred the pot. At times, with each proceeding chapter, one can tell that an author is trying to change the course of the story a little unsuccessfully, which can make the characterization uneven. But all in all, each chapter builds to a satisfying climax. There is an appendix provided at the end, in which the authors gave their solution to the mystery: Agatha Christie's solution is most funny, but the real solution worked out by Anthony Berkeley, with all its twists and turns, is icing on the cake. While definitely a bit dated in places (especially with the Admiral's past in China) the nature of the crime and the solution of it stand the test of time.
A Hard-to-Find CuriosityReview Date: 2004-06-09
The Gregg Press edition is the most desirable printing of this hard-to-find novel I have encountered, opening with a 1979 essay by Detection Club member Christianna Brand (author of such novels as GREEN FOR DANGER and DEATH IN HIGH HEELS), who recalls the history of the club and sketches memorable portraits of its members. This is followed by the original 1932 introduction by Dorothy L. Sayers, in which she describes the process by which the novel was written: each participating author wrote a chapter in turn, remaining consistent with the plot as created in all previous chapters and with a specific and justifiable solution of their own creation in mind.
The authors who played this literary game create a roster of the finest English mystery novelists of the early 1930s. After a prologue by C.K. Chesterson, creator of the famous "Father Brown" mysteries, there follows chapters by Victor L. Whitechurch; G.D.H. and M. Cole; Henry Wade; Agatha Christie; John Rhodes; Milward Kennedy; Dorothy L. Sayers; Ronald A. Knox; Freeman Wills Crofts; Edgar Jepson; Clemence Dane; and Anthony Berkeley, better known as Anthony Iles.
The story itself concerns Inspector Rudge, a rural officer who is called to the scene of a peculiar murder: the body of Admiral Penistone has been found stabbed to the heart and floating in a small boat on the River Whyn. Not only are the circumstances odd, it soon transpires that there are several people who might have interest in his demise--including his peculiar niece Elma, her possibly undesirable lover, and her missing brother. But although the premise is something of a classic, the novel largely runs aground due to the scattered approach of the participating writers.
This is not to say that any of the authors involved write badly. It is to say, however, that as the novel progresses each writer has considerably more difficulty in lining up the endless parade of clues offered by those who have gone before to create either a cohesive narrative or a reasonable solution. So the end result is like buckshot: a story that seems to fly in so many different directions that it has no long-range strike. Even so, fans of 1930s murder mysteries will prize this novel as a hard-to-find curiosity--and they will be particularly pleased to note that most of the authors involved offered very different solutions to the crime, many of them more interesting than anything in the text itself and all of them collected in a neat appendix.

Absolutely AdorableReview Date: 2002-09-30
Erin Kelly, a young friend of Mary, takes matters into her own hands and begins using all the tactics she has learned from Mary to fix the situation. Mary's long time suitor tries to help as well. Richard tries to keep all the pandomonium to a dull roar as he tries to help Mary legally.
Although this book references previous books and characters that were introduced in other books by the same author, this is a stand alone novel. And a good one it is. I was chuckling and mad and enjoyed the book completely.
Enjoy.

Breaking All The Rules, book 5 of the Paradise Beach, Florida series of Sue Civil-Brown (aka Rachel Lee) brings you another romantic comedy or better yet, a soap opera with humour and fun. Anything could happen on this island with Mary Todd in residence and running the show. Readers will either hate or love this book because of the outrageous, insane and confusing plots and incidents. The earlier books in the series are Letting Loose, Chasing Rainbow, Catching Kelly, Next Stop, Paradise. If you like to try this series, the best way is to read them in sequence.
amusing contemporary romantic rompReview Date: 2002-09-07
Erin Kelly is outraged that her friend Mary has lost her independence to an unprincipled loser like Linus. Erin begins a campaign to rescue her buddy using the very tricks that Mary taught her. Richard tries to stop Erin because he knows only through legal channels can Mary regain her freedom. The devious Mary observes the twosome fall in love while trying to trump one another even as apparent mob warfare seems to be playing out on the beach stage.
BREAKING ALL THE RULES is a humorous return to Sue Civil-Brown's unique take on the Sunshine State. The story line is outrageous, wacky, and fun as Mary plays puppeteer in her usual havoc style. The antics of the lead couple and key support cast will delight those in the audience who find paradise in an amusing contemporary romantic romp.
