In this book you will visit the two ends of the spectrum. The past and the present, even the future. A very important analogy study in depth. Read this book, you will learn something. I enjoyed reading it.

A rich conpemdium for both the scientific mind and lovers of history. Abundance of facts, useful chronology, intelligent analyses, plenty of material to sink your teeth in. A serious work, no question asked. Will this remarkable book convince the ordinary minds? No. But it will incite them to question many vital things surrounding their world. Highly recommended! Buy a copy for sure!

Well argued content; shame about the editing

Everyone else before me has rated this 5 stars and to be honest, the content is good enough to warrant a top rating. The author has built a reasoned argument using earlier work by such non-conformist, alternative-knowledge and unconventional writers like Velikovsky (Worlds in Collision) Bruce Rux (Architects of the Underworld) and Zecharia Sitchin (Earth Chronicles)to present a theory about how the solar system evolved, the origin of the moon as possibly an artificial satellite and the planetary-scale wars between "gods'' that led to planets being destroyed. All maybe far-fetched if you're not used to this sort of thing but if you keep an open mind, it's all good stuff. The science might be difficult for some to follow, especially since it involves knowledge of physics. Still, even if you aren't scientifically inclined, you'd still be able to learn something from this thought-provoking book. But what annoyed me continuously throughout was the poor editing - this book is filled with spelling and punctuation errors. Worse, the author relies heavily on a seminal work on ancient knowledge and precession called Hamlet's Mill by De Santillana and Von Dechend but mis-spells the latter's name in more than a dozen mentions as Von Dechind. I wonder how he would feel if another researcher were to use his texts as a springboard for their own work and consistently mis-spelled his name as Farel or Faril or Furell. Yes I know I'm being picky but "suppose you red a book in which some words were often wrongly speled or ifthe spacings or punctuations were omitted, wouldn't it irritate you? Minus two stars then for the annoyance factor.

interplanetary war in our solar system

Review Date: 2008-05-04

In this book, Farrell turns his considerable investigative talents to the problem of the Cosmic War in ancient texts, and what impact it had on our planet and history.

He approaches the subject with his usual depth of detail, meticulous methods, and logic. He examines ancient myths and legends from many lands in connection with current knowledge of space science and physics, in the context of his previous books and research into the pyramids, the Exploded Planet hypothesis, and advanced alternative physics. He investigates anomalies on Mars, our Moon (and other moons and planets), revelations from research into hidden aspects of the space program, and other related topics.

This book is rich with research and citations, as are all his books, and he makes a strong case for his hypothesis that there was once a great war in our solar system, and our planet and ancient myths and legends preserve the story of that time (albeit in a confusing, severely degraded and distorted form). Our understanding of our history, and even who we are, is greatly changed by this knowledge.

It is a fascinating read, full of interesting information, well cited as usual for Farrell. Although not my favorite of his books, it is filled with tremendous insight and is very much worth having.

I recommend all of Farrell's books.

This is an excellent description of historical matters from earth's earliest (known) ages. It doesn't seem possible, at least not presently, to accurately depict everything that happened during these times, and who was on who's side, and was anyone on mankind's side(?) and yet, with the texts that are available, this seems to be as accurate a description as any. Ancient texts have often been considered myth in the past, because the tales seemed so fantastic, and far fetched, but as our science, and our understanding of the universe multiplies, suddenly the ancient texts make sense in an unexpected way. It seems that in this book, that "unexpected way" is well described.

About a year and a half ago I purchased a copy of Theun Mares' book entitled Cry of the Eagle. At the time I was in a very stressful job position that demanded a great deal of time and energy. When I started reading and applying the principles from Cry of the Eagle, I found that my approach to the job began to change and I was able to more easily handle the daily pressures which had started to impact my health. Since then, I've had a chance to read several of Theun's books (Return of the Warriors and The Mists of Dragon Lore), and have found, for the first time, a way of living which has truly changed my approach to life.

Cry of the Eagle builds on one of the central themes of the Toltec Path starting with the Four Attributes of Warriorship and ending with the Technique of Dreaming. For me, the chapters on Intelligent Cooperation, and the thoughts expressed in the Dreamer and the Dreamed form a basis which is reflected time and again throughout the Toltec teachings.

Because my current job requires a great deal of air travel, I usually carry a book with me at all times and, more often than not, the book is Cry of the Eagle. I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to explore the world of the Toltec Warrior as can only be expressed by a Nagal such as Theun Mares.

Toltecs Assemble! A review of Cry of The Eagle

Most of us first came into contact with the Toltec Tradition through the works of Carlos Castaneda whose chronicles of his apprenticeship under the Nagal Don Juan Matus have become known worldwide. But while Mr. Castaneda was a trained anthropologist, his works are largely biographical. As fascinating as they are, as tantalizing as they are in their implications for the future of humanity, the books are difficult to use as teaching tools for those readers interested in following the Warrior's Path. Herein lies the great importance of Theun Mares' books for the serious student of the the Toltec teachings. For with the publication of Return of The Warriors, Mr. Mares, a Nagal of the third attention, began the formidable task of bringing forth a series of texts designed for practicle use. In every way, these books not only corroborate the teachings of Don Juan, they elaborate upon them in great detail. I cannot imagine walking the Path With A Heart without them. Cry of The Eagle is the second volume in the series, and, like its predecessor, it is a gift to be savored. It inspired me; it awed me, and, most importantly, it challenged my view of the world. The title of the book is as important as the work itself. Simply stated, The Cry of The Eagle is an occurence signifying the knock of the spirit, not for a single individual, but for all of humanity. For untold generations the teachings were an oral tradition passed along through various Toltec lineages, each separated from the rest to insure their survival until such time as mankind reached the necessary level of development to receive them. This time has come. Thus, as Mr. Mares states, the Doctrine of Separate Development no longer holds. Now the time has come for the teachings to be made available for all those who wish to benefit from them. Needless to say, this is a momentous occasion. The Cry of The Eagle takes us ever deeper in to the Toltec Teachings, particularly those dealing with left side awareness. Topics covered in this book include, The Art of Dreaming, Stopping the Internal Dialogue and the Four Natural Enemies. Mr. Mares elucidates the most recondite material with a clarity and precision that is almost alarming. I cannot recommend Cry of The Eagle strongly enough. This is humanities hour of power and the train is leaving the station. Don't delay. There is much to learn and time is of the essence.

SO! The Cry of the Eagle has sounded, what does this mean? Quite simply, that humanity has come of age and now must take responsibility for its actions in playing a truly meaningful role in materializing the full awareness of the dreamers of mankind, for this is their intent. How to do so, where to go? By learning to LIVE, rather than exist, by under-stading that there is no-where to go, which means one is now-here. By listening to the heart and using the world as a mirror reflecting our own inner self. The Toltec Teaching Series that nagal Theun Mares is writing serves as a beacon light for those of us who sense that world needs are so dire and that only WE can turn them around. At a certain level, the premise that "if we change and uplift ourselves so to must the world around us" is all we need in order to cause our bucket to overflow, our life to be-come filled with many richnesses and many joys. But here is the practical use of Theun's books, particularly this one. Writing this volume in 3 easy to grasp, yet challenging to implement strategies, the apprentice or reader is guided into taking action that leads to knowledge in the fundamental heart of the Toltec legacy. These 3 parts, or steps, are - (1) Living the Life of the Warrior: Transmutation. (2) Erasing Personal History: Transformation. (3) Dreaming: Transfiguration. This really amounts to embracing death for it is not possible to give birth to a new being, a new life, a new world, without first burying that which is old and out-dated, including the perception we have of ourselves. To create a life that is forever new and nascent, requires a destruction of the old, our old way of viewing the world. Upon reading this book and indeed the reviews written here, I am led to wonder of the examples provided in the world today. This includes my own. There is something stirring and hope-ful about the camaraderie found with those who walk the Path with Heart, and to this extent, where are these people who write these great reviews? Hello! Do you hear me? Particularly this Gagliano chap, whose words are quite poetic and chilling to the bone. I wonder if there is some "Toltec Pub" in which men and women explore the teachings together? Yes, a Hunters Lodge, that is where I shall meet you, ANY of you who are reading this NOW. There we shall drink a toast to LIFE, NOW, LOVE and WARMTH. What is a life without Friendship, without Honour, without Fluidity? A cold and barren life. So COME FRIEND! "Roll the dice of life, if you care to live, friend! If you dare to die!" For the Spirit has knocked on our door, and life will never be the same again. . .

With Warm Regards,

Jared Roy Windhauser

Cry of the Eagle, Volume 2 of the Toltec teaching series by Theun Mares, gave me a good bird's eye view of the cosmology behind the practical teachings of the Toltec tradition. Theun unleashed a torrent of information whereby I was able to put meaning and purpose with the techniques learned in the first volume, Return of the Warriors. This book covers a broad range of the Toltec teachings and yet, as the author tells us, this book is but only a fraction of the teachings that he is systematically bringing forward to humanity. I especially benefited from the chapters covering belief in oneself, stopping internal dialogue, and the entire section on the art of dreaming.

Cry of the Eagle is a well-written and scholarly manual for living the Toltec teachings, and it is very easy to read. Theun put enough examples in this book, just as he did in the first, for me to get a FEEL for the teachings and the techniques. It was because of the extensive examples that I was able to correlate much of the material to what I was experiencing in my day to day living and make the needed adjustments to break free from some long-standing habit patterns.

I was very much convinced while reading and working with Cry of the Eagle that this was definitely not like anything that I had read to date. It was empowering and uplifting, and it gave me the much-needed impetus to change my conditions for the better. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to break free from the inertia of old habits: mental, emotional, or physical. I especially recommend it for those who already have a penchant for things "Toltec".

Sincerely, Leonardo

Tobias is an upscale veterinarian just entering middle age. For his 41st birthday, he elects to treat himself to an evening at the Club. As a Dominant, Tobias can meet with a submissive companion, in a relaxed atmosphere similar to the traditional British upper class men's club. At the very least, he'll enjoy a fine dinner and excellent wine. Bradford, owner of the club and a former mentor of Tobias, introduces him to Noah, a younger submissive. Noah's need is to learn trust in submission.

Tobias teaches Noah that life means growth, and change, even in one's desires and one's limits; what was good for an individual two years ago may not even work now, because the individual matures. Boundaries stretch with growth, and the work of a trained Dominant such as Tobias is to help the sub discover his boundaries, as well as to fulfill the Dom's own needs. That is a lesson Noah has to discover just as much as he must learn the capacity to trust. Tobias begins to open an entirely new aspect of the D/s lifestyle to Noah, who has been abused by Dominants in the past and is amazed when Tobias opens portions of his life experience to his sub. Noah must learn that control involves giving his emotions to his Master, not just submitting to unnecessary pain.

Deviations: Submission is a long, engrossing story of two men coming to terms with their very different interests and learning to enmesh their separate goals. Chris Owen and Jody Payne are very skillful at illuminating the gay D/s lifestyle, and this story is a learning experience as well as an intriguing tale with well-delineated protagonists.

MY FAVORITE BOOK IS BAREBACK BY CHRIS OWEN. AFTER I READ BAREBACK I BEGAN READING ALL OF HIS BOOKS. WITH THE HELP OF JODI PAYNE HE HAS PROVIDED READERS WITH A VERY WELL WRITTEN BOOK. IT INVOLVES TOBIAS A DOM WHO HAS BEEN AWAY FROM THE SCENE FOR SOME MONTHS BECAUSE OF HIS HEARTBREAK OVER HIS INVOLVEMENT WITH HIS THEN SUB PHANTOM. ON HIS 41ST BIRTHDAY HE DECEIDED TO GO BACK TO THE S&M CLUB WHERE HE WAS A MEMBER. THE OWNER WAS A CLOSE FRIEND AND THRILLED TO SEE HIM AGAIN. EVERYONE STARED AT TOBIAS AS HE WAS A WELL KNOW AND WELL LIKED DOM. EVEN HIS OLD LOVER AND SUB. PHAN STILL LOVED HIM. NOT IN LOVE WITH HIM BUT LOVED HIM. TOBIAS FELT THE SAME TOWARD PHAN. BRADFORD INTRODUCED TOBIAS TO NOAH, A GOOD LOOKING MAN IN HIS LATE 20'S. BRADFORD TOLD THEM HE THOUGHT THEY WOULD BE GOOD TOGETHER AND LEFT THEM ALONE. NOAH HAD BEEN WITH A FEW MASTERS BUT THEY NEVER SEEMED TO WORK OUT. HE DEFINITLY WAS NOT INTO DEEP PAIN AND CAGES SCARED HIM. IT WAS UP TO TOBIAS TO FIND OUT WHY. HE NOTICED NOAH HAD A SCAR ON HIS SHOULDER AND DECEIDED TO ASK HIM ABOUT IT LATER ON. YOU'LL ENJOY WHAT HAPPENS WHEN TOBIAS DISCOVERS NOAH'S FIRST DOM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TORMENT HE FEELS. AFTER STUDYING AND LISTENING TO NOAH HE SAID HE'D TRAIN HIM. NOW ALL NOAH HAD TO DO WAS SIGN A CONTRACT. THROUGH TIME NOAH AND TOBIAS FALL IN LOVE. BECAUSE OF THE CLOSENESS BETWEEN TOBIAS AND PHAN NOAH FEELS THREATENED. HE CALLED PHAN AND ASKED IF THEY COULD MEET. WITHOUT HIS KNOWLEDGE PHAN CALLED TOBIAS TELLING HIM ABOUT NOAH ASKING HIM OUT FOR LUNCH. LATER WHEN NOAH FOUND OUT HE BECAME UPSET. NOAH AND PHAN ENDED UP LIKING EACH OTHER. NOW REMEMBER I SAID LIKED NOT LOVED. I JUST GAVE YOU A SLIGHT INDICATION ABOUT THE CONTENTS OF THIS BOOK. THERE IS SO MANY EXCITING INCIDENTS INSIDE OF THIS MARVELOUS BOOK. I THINK DEVIATIONS: SUBMISSION BY CHRIS OWEN & JODIE PAYNE IS ONE HECK OF A BOOK! AFTER YOU READ THE FIRST IN THIS SERIES YOU'LL FIND YOURSELF BUYING THE SECOND BOOK DEVIATIONS: DOMINATION. YOU'LL ALSO DISCOVER THE SECOND BOOK IS AS ENTERTAINING IF NOT MORE SO THAN THE FIRST. NOW FOR A THIRD BOOK. HUM, NOW THERE'S A GOOD IDEA.

I really enjoy M/M erotica and romance. But, I wasn't so sure about gay BDSM. This book totally changed my mind! The characters are engaging, the story is realistic and the sex is hot. But, there is also a deeply felt relationship beginning between Tobias and Noah that makes the reader want more. The BDSM aspects can be a little uncomfortable to someone who isn't involved in that (like me), but no more uncomfortable than stories that have elements of rape, danger or abuse to propel a plot. I devoured this book, and the sequel "Deviations: Dominance" is a couple of days. If you are a fan of gay romance, do yourself a favor and try this.

I wasn't looking for a cure for my sleep disorder, monthly cramps, headaches and occasional UTIs when I picked up Dr. Atkins'Health Revolution three years back; I was just doing a little preliminary research on the Atkins Diet to see if this guy was some kind of quack, as his detractors often claimed. Lo and behold, a new world of health and physically based well-being opened to me as I began to understand just how my nutritional habits (and lack thereof) were undermining the quality of my life.

A common myth about Dr. Atkins that could stand some clearing up is that he advocates a strict homeopathic system of medical care and an unbalanced meat-only diet. These misconceptions can be corrected by reading the first few chapters. Atkins actually gives well-reasoned explanations of his philosophy of Complementary medicine, an approach that stresses prevention via good dietary habits, vitamin supplements and exercise, then homeopathic and vitamin remedies when there is a problem, and finally traditional medicine when all else fails (Yeah, he's a quack all right!). Without going into the details and logistics here, I was impressed with how logical and simple to apply this system is.

Where Atkins' detractors have hung up on most is the section on diet and how our last 150 years or so of history have affected it. From our pre-industrial food options though the Twentieth Century's sudden proliferation of processed flour and sugar, we can trace the steady rise of heart disease, obesity, tooth decay and Type 2 diabetes. Worse, the industries that stood to profit from the "deadly duo" (and other starchy carb-based foods that were taking the place of meats, eggs, butter and cheese as the bulk of our diets) greatly influenced the medical profession's research and findings. The resulting decline of our national health is a bitter legacy to take responsibility for, and that is just what too many of our processed food makers, doctors, pharmaceutical companies and health experts would have to do once they conceded that Atkins may indeed have been right. For that reason, such an admission may be decades in coming.

Whether or not you find yourself agreeing with that area of Atkins' theory, the book presents sound arguments and encourages a lifestyle that has improved untold lives over the past 30 years. There are changes you can make that will lower your blood pressure, bad cholesterol and triglycerides, eliminate systemic yeast infections, reverse diabetes and re-energize you - all without the use of drugs. In fact, you will probably end up being able to ditch the drugs you are on now.

I believe that someday Dr. Atkins vitamin and diet principles will be the standard recommendations from the health industry. It is hard to argue with the steadily growing segment of our population that simply gets lasting results by using them, and expands slowly via word of mouth. Meanwhile, those happy few of us will continue to benefit from the work done by this incredible man and his steadfast campaigning on our behalf before a tragic head wound took his life a few months ago.
Rest in peace, Doctor.

From the remarkably eloquent foreword to the beautifully drawn and written stories, each page of this graphic novel shines. The humour in this intimately-written graphic novel hits home with its baldly honest, personal stories. Like others, I didn't want the book to end, and found myself slowing the read by spending extra time with the expressive and fabulously rendered comic panels. Very entertaining & excellent to pass on to friends.

What a lovely book! The title conveys the sense perfectly. These finely drawn stories capture the moments any traveller will recognize, when throwing yourself at the mercy of the world leaves you exposed not only to things mind-blowingly new but also to your own template--sensory memories, childhood perceptions, early hurts and wonderings. Any reader who is interested in travel will appreciate this book, whether or not she usually likes comics. A FEW PERFECT HOURS works on so many levels, I've found myself leaving it out and turning to it again and again.

"A Few Perfect Hours" isn't the kind of work you can easily peg: A graphic novel, it's also the kind of compelling travel writing that takes you on a journey both inside and beyond yourself, to off-the-beaten-path adventures in countries that no longer exist precisely the way they did when Josh & his wife Sari once traveled the globe. The result is a journey in time as well as one between borders. With pieces ranging from humorous to thought-provoking, Neufeld shows he is as capable of fascinating us with his writing as he is with his illustrations. Both bear up to several visits. In fact, it might be worth reading the whole book through once for the stories, again for the visuals, and at least once more to explore how the two interact.

A tip-off to the care he took inside, Neufeld packaged his work in an impressive form (paper, ink, and front and back matter) that makes "A Few Perfect Hours" a beautiful book that stands apart on the shelf. The result is a very readable, rewarding graphic novel that would be equally perfect tucked in a backpack or lying on a coffeetable.

An Artist's Journey...

Review Date: 2004-11-10
Much will be (and has already been) said about Josh Neufeld's journey -- spiritual, emotional, physical, and otherwise -- as he depicts it in this insightful compilation (and indeed it is highly satisfying for a reader to observe -- as a voyeur safely removed from the frequent moral quandaries one faces when travelling abroad -- Josh's struggles while schlepping his American-bred presumptions around the globe). But as gratifying as these anecdotes might be, what really stikes me the most is his journey as an artist. Here is not simply the chronicles of a young man and his adventures in a comic book format, it's also the chronicles of an artist: years of experimentation, study, and refining a singular vision and style. This book did not happen overnight. Look closely, and you'll recognize the Life of The Comic Book Artist -- hidden behind the stories, Josh has provided us with a glimpse of how much art and an artist can change over time, even if ever so subtly. Having read much of his other works, I can now appreciate even more the times he has discussed his stylistic choices, because this book contains it all -- the whole kit and caboodle at my fingertips. So, keeping in mind Josh's own self-analyses from earlier years, I can now smile and laugh even harder when I see Josh in a tight bodysuit or Sari's tiny little feet (p. 61, "How to Star in a Singaporean Soap Opera"). Hergé would be proud...

This is a warm, comforting book with gently taught lessons on how to manage with a rare cancer. The importance of finding expert doctors is gently but unforgettably remarked upon. The man has a generosity of character and spirit that makes reading this book a calming as well as an educating experience. He demonstrates by example an exemplary way of dealing with cancer, its many setbacks, and its many frustrations. WELL WORTH READING. Beg, borrow or steal a copy.

This book is a page turner. The author's story is one of courage and determination. Not only is he told he is seriously ill, but he finds his HMO offers no help. As his battle with his illness and insurance company unfolds with the pages, the reader is drawn into its intensity and overwhelming obstacles. I was amazed at the bravery of this man. He accomplished a feat few people in his situation would be willing to face. In my opinion, he is a hero. Read this book! You will find it fascinating.

I highly recommend this book this book to all readers, whether ill or healthy. Mr. Scribner's true story will touch you deeply. He has the ability to draw you into his life with the written word. I actually felt I was present in many of the situations. The book is excellent and extremely informative. His factual account is awe-inspiring and offers encouragement to those who are battling their health insurance carrier as well as a lifethreatening disease. His courage in the face of overwhelming odds literally does give one "hope" when it seems there is none.

Scribner's "Finding Hope" is a descriptive narrative which begins as the author is diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer. The reader climbs aboard an emotional roller coaster ride which makes this book difficult to put down; you'll find yourself reading it at every opportunity. Throughout the narrative, Scribner shares the difficult lessons he learned in his fight with HMO Medicine, even explicitly labeling some valuable lessons as "advice". Scribner battles the disease on any and all fronts. By "getting it together" on the physical, psychological, and spiritual fronts, Eric discovers a better way to live each day. We can all benefit from his learning and the joy he discovers in this amazing journey.

Being helpless in this day and age should not be a choice for anyone. And whether we go to war or not, since my voice and hundreds of thousands of others' voices cannot be heard above the rumbling of the war machine, I at least now have knowledge that there are options and methods of protecting myself and my family. I urge every American and English speaking individual to reach for the knowledge and wisdom this book presents. I am now in control. Others can be, too!
Thank you,

If you read any of my past reviews on Gary's books, you'd see that I have been very critical of his approach. He always backs off when he writes a book, and never gives the kind of in depth information he always does on his radio show. I've always wondered why..

However, with this new book, Gary delivers in a huge way. He tells it like it is, and has finally written a book that is as hard hitting and cutting edge as his radio show is.

This book covers everything from the history of biological warfare, vaccines, conventional BW treatments, alternative treatments, how to detoxify, de-acidify, how to manage stress, and much more. Very dynamic delivery, and very well written. Excellent job, Gary.

A New Must Read from Gary Null

Gary Null has done it again in his timely new book, "Germs, Biological Warfare, Vaccinations." As the looming war with Iraq approaches, Americans more than ever have to be prepared to deal with potential biohazards and terrorist threats. In this terrific, informative book, Mr. Null, with the assistance of James Feast, provides a detailed, yet gripping review of the history of biological warfare and what societies have done to defend themselves. To fully understand the nature of biological threats - both natural and manmade - Gary takes the reader on a tour of the most important biological hazards and how, without protection, they can wreak incredible havoc on society. All of the important hazards are described, from Small Pox and Anthrax to Botulism, the Plague, and Yellow Fever. Their histories are discussed in detail, as well as ways, if any, to protect against them. All of the CDC Class A biohazards, as well as others, are fully described, such as Lassa Fever, Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers, Tularemia, and Bunyaviridae. The history of these viruses and their destruction of human societies is discussed. The book also documents the history, particularly in the twentieth century, of the development of germ warfare, the accidents with it, and the attempts and failures to control it.

The book deals in great detail with various controversial and competing theories about the use and abuse of vaccinations against such biohazards as smallpox. The author makes a good case for examining much more closely the risks and overuse of vaccinations in certain cases. The book provides compelling evidence as to the dangers of overvaccination--for instance harmful side effects and the distortion of the body's natural immune system--and calls for a more reasoned and scientific approach to studying the effectiveness of vaccinations in general. It seems as though in some cases, such as polio (where the illness has been wiped out) and Hepatitis B, it is time to really re-think our national policy of coerced vaccinations, especially where the risks of harmful side effects may outweigh questionable benefits. Gary shows the checkered history of the development and growth of massive compulsory vaccinations in America and how it is supported and maintained by powerful business interests in the pharmaceutical industry.

Through a series of interwoven subthemes, involving the life of French scientist and theologian Blaise Pascal and American Revolutionary Benjamin Rush, Gary explores how new paradigms are created and phase shifts occur through history. Gary's thesis is that the medical establishment is on the cusp of such a paradigm shift, as it moves from the established modalities of merely treating disease to promoting proven holistic ways of living healthy and building our immune systems so that disease is never allowed to establish a foothold in the first place. Gary likens this change in American health to the type of fundamental change described by Thomas Kuhn in his seminal philosophical treatise, "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions". As one of the leading advocates of public health in America, Gary is uniquely poised to assist in ushering in this revolutionary approach to leading more healthy, vital and robust lives.

Finally, Gary provides valuable information about what we can actually do to prepare for a potential bioterrorist attack. Initially, Gary says that we should strengthen our immune systems by detoxifying our bodies, eliminating risk items such as sugar and caffeine, eating healthy, nutritious foods such as organic fruits and vegetables, drinking plenty of pure water, getting adequate exercise every day, and forming other important healthy habits. This is based on Gary's proven philosophy, that a strengthened, hardy immune system is one of the best ways to ward off even the most potentially deadly virus. Other protective measures include certain practices of cleanliness, avoiding contact between your hands and mouth, and certain special formulations of vitamins, herbs, and supplements that can be helpful in building the body's natural immunity in the event of an attack. Specific formulas of natural herbal and supplemental remedies to respond to and repel attacks of viruses, such as anthrax, are also provided. Gary also discusses traditional "Western Medicine" responses to viral attacks and their various efficacies. Armed with the tremendous knowledge provided by Gary in this very important book, one feels well equipped to respond in the best possible way to a bioterrorist attack. This is an excellent book, and it is must reading for anyone living in America at these potentially perilous times.

I'm not sure if I agree with the author's spin on vaccines and the link with autism, but most of the information contained in this slim volume is true & accurate information.
On page 62, he discusses Brucellosis; the illness that plaqued Florence Nightingale upon her return from the Crimean War, which quite possibly was responsible for keeping her bedridden for the rest of her life. E-yup, Brucellosis is an oldie, and so are smallpox, TB, plaque and Anthrax, which he discusses in a somewhat boring fashion.
He goes on to explain such entities as Ribavirin, Antivirals and more yet about vaccines. (Which are our only hope - if ya want to know the truth about prevention of catastrophic diseases. Vaccines are GOOD -- not bad!)
Towards the back of the book, Null & Fest delve into natural methods on how YOU can prevent contracting these loathsome illnesses through...
proper diet
detoxification
destressing your life
Hebs and so on and so on......He even tells you how to take a proper bath! (see pages 208-10.)
The treat of all treats is on page 206 -- this is worth the price of the book...
The Liver and Gallbladder FLUSH!
You mix up the list of organic acids and bolt the concoction down first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
Talk about explosive!!!! Oooh-la-la! My bowels will never be the same, and be sure nobody's in the house when you do this!
Finally, this book reminds all readers to take massages whenever possible, and to take life one day at a time.
I wish those brilliant authors would have emphasized to NOT WORRY, BE HAPPY, because one should not obsess over this icky subject matter. When your number's up, it's up, and then you move onto another relm where somebody slaps a new job on ya. It's a tough world our there, growing harder every day, but it is still a beautiful world -- there is still much joy awaiting all of us. In order to recieve the goodness of this Earth, we must first be willing to be giving...and we should do all we can to preserve our beautiful universe. PEACE out!

This is a cute book with a great message. While many "green" books give you long list of dos and don't (mostly don'ts!), Green Chic goes further. Author Christie Matheson goes into great detail as to the why that making environmentally friendly choices makes a difference. She is not at all about appearances, but is definitely all about the change of mindset and attitude.

The best part of this book is that Matheson offers very doable tips to make small changes that almost anyone can handle that make a major impact in our world.

The title of this book almost makes it sound like you'll be buying $500 dresses from organic hemp. Actually, what Green Chic provides is an extremely useful primer on how to incorporate green living into your daily life in a way that balances usefulness and impact.

Christie Matheson goes over a variety of basics in an easy to understand fashion. She explains the differences between incandescent and fluorescent bulbs, why fluorescent is better, and how to manage the switch. She talks about how wasteful plastic bottled water is, why it causes a lot of harm to the environment to buy water in this fashion, and what your options are.

She goes over the small differences you can make in your daily routine that really add up. Cut your shower length by 2 minutes to save 400 pounds of carbon a year. Uncharge your cell phone charger when not in use for another 100 pounds a year. These are things that are better for you anyway - your skin does much better with short showers - but you might not have thought about them before.

Wash your clothes in cold water. The heat really doesn't do anything at all with modern detergents, and if anything it might set a stain rather than let it wash out. Use recycled paper in your paper towels - if everyone in the US did that just once we'd save 1/2 million trees. Eat local foods, to save on the shipping impact of exhaust and gas.

We live in a consumer society. We buy things without thinking about their impact on our world. If each of us just made small changes - buying recycled paper cards, getting "non-thing" gifts for people like massage gift certificates or restaurant gift certificates, turning off lights when we left rooms - the impact could be phenomenal. Christie points these things out in an engaging manner.

Highly recommended! Then donate your copy to your local library, so even more people can learn from the information, and your own house reduces on its clutter!

Just for starters im 23 yrs old, and am apart of the generation that is really catching on to green living. Im also a major "tree hugger" as my family would call me lol. I love to do anything i can to help our environment, and that includes getting family members to start doing it to. So i have over the past two years bought several books. This one is my absolute favorite! this is perfect for anyone around my age or younger who wants to start going green! In this book it felt like the author really got down to some honest things we do that are hurting our planet without realizing we are doing it! Her words are truly inspiring. I thought i had this whole green living completely figured out, The author points out some things that im even guilty of. This book gave easy, simple and effective soulutions to living green without huge efforts or spending alot of money. The author of this book did a amazing job. I am so Happy i found this, i have three friends who went out and bought it and are now doing their part to live green. I have given it to two friends as part of their birthday gifts and they got back to me and told me they had finished it in less than two days. Fair price for such a Great Book! buy this book! you wont be let down.

This book is exactly what I was looking for. I needed information about each of the amino acids, what functions they are involved in, how they interrelate, and what illnesses they are connected with. This book is well-organized, highly readable, and extremely interesting. It was just the right mix of research information, along with dosage and uses.

This book has been very useful in helping me find supplements that are improving my medical issues.

The amino acids in the human body are proving to be potent healing substances. This book reveals the findings of research in the 1980s and 1990s on the beneficial role of the aminos in Alzheimer's, cancer, depression, heart conditions, stress and many other disease states.

The different amino acids are discussed in chapters according to type: Aromatic, Sulphur, Urea Cycle, Glutamate, Threonine and Branched Chain. Their food sources, nutrient interactions and proven benefits are given in detail.

The therapeutic functions of specific aminos include pain relief (Phenylalanine), fighting addiction (Tyrosine), treatment of Parkinson's (Methionine), heart protection (Homocysteine), herpes killer (Lysine). Many of them also play a part in immune stimulation or as anti-oxidants.

There are three appendices: 1. The Problems of Vegetarianism. 2. The Much Maligned Egg: The Best Amino Acid Food. 3. Continuing Breakthroughs in Amino Acids. This informative book with its good news concludes with an extensive bibliography, a glossary of terms and an index.

Everyone can benefit from the use of supplemental amino acids. This excellent book shows how to integrate them in one's own health management programme. Similar helpful books include The Amino Revolution by Erdmann and Amino Acids In Therapy by Chaitow.

At the outset, I admit I am not a totally unbiased reviewer. I met Lynn at workshop on Complementary/ Alternative Medicine about a year before her book was published. Lynn gave me her card and asked for a reference of the work of Randall Byrd on distant healing prayer. When I became aware that Lynn was writing a book on Holistic Parenting, I offered to do medical proof reading.
As a physician, I really want to respond to the review of Shawn Tessone, criticizing the work, stating "the last two reviewers might take this text as gospel and while her style of writing may be good and easy it does not lend itself to factual data and thus it falls short". I know how meticulous Lynn was in seeking verifiable data to support an area of medicine, which is difficult to research. She has listed over 300 references in her chapter by chapter bibliography. There are at least 700 sources of information on "Holistic Healing" and I think her easy to read style is a good way for most lay people to get through a healing book.
Let me respond to Dr. Tessone's example about fever. Infectious disease specialists are taking a new look a fever as a normal body defense mechanism, faithfully preserved over our process of evolution. In certain diseases such as Influenza A, treatment to reduce fever lengthened the course of the illness. In the 1920's and 30's (pre-antibiotic era), virtually every hospital had a "fever-box" where patients with infections would be placed to induce fever and hopefully shorten the infection. I have references in the peer reviewed scientific literature concerning this if she or others are interested.
In Chapter One she carefully goes over the difference between "Complementary" and "Integrative," the term most Universities now use to describe the interface between the "Conventional" and "Unconventional".
This is an important book and as she points out no one should follow her experience, but at least give it a read, check it out and try what seems reasonable for you.

This is a very good book. In my opinion, it is a perfect first book for anyone who is interested in learning more about holistic health or holistic parenting. It is interesting, informative and easy to read. One of the more surprising and enjoyable qualities of the book is the clarity and familiarity of Sneyd's writing style. It makes the reader feel as if they were sitting down over coffee with a childhood friend and sharing what they've been up to the last decade. Sneyd has obviously been on a voyage of discovery and has shared her experiences with insight and good humor. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who is curious about holistic health.
