This book, along with another came in on time and for a great price. I Love this book.. I am now waiting to read the two books left that tells the rest of Dave's Story. There are 4 all together!

This book will open your eyes to child abuse. You will forever remember and reflect on what you have read. We all have a need to be loved.

this is a good book! i love it when dave sees that kid and the kid says what you call my sister? then dave says a horror? then the kid punches dave, makes his nose bleed, and says don't you ever, ever, call my sister a whore again! read it if you liek dave pelzer as much as me!

I purchased this book for my girlfrind, and she loved it! The compelling story of this little boy and his fight for survival would motivate anyone to keep moving forward. It is a must read!

"After a few sweeps I shook my head `She`s gone! She`s not there!'" The book, The Lost Boy bye Dave Pelzer, is about a boy named David who goes into foster care. His mom, (who is the actual crazy person) thinks her son, David should go into a Mental Institution! I think that she has already punished him enough, but apparently she will still try harder. On page 203, Lillian (David's first foster parents) tells David how his mom has been trying to put him down since he went into foster care! She try's everything in her power to tell everyone that David is crazy. She tells lies about David like starting fires and much more! I think that ages 13 and older could read this book. I think that anyone under the age of 13 wouldn't really understand this book very well. The setting of the book is in a couple different places, in court, and in different foster homes. This Non-Fiction book tells a true story of how David Pelzer servives his life untill he is eighteen, when he has to move out on his own! It is an interesting book, and I believe that people will like it. (It is a very emotional book.)

this is one book every massage therapist must own. My school and teacher recomended it and I agree it is very helpful.

I have written a review of this book before, but 3+ yrs. down the road it's still a life saver for me. I had frozen shoulder from painting inside my house (several rooms) and recently used the book to resolve the problem. I find myself referring back to it for myself and for others with pain, suggesting they see a dr. or massage therapist or try the tennis ball against the wall (helps when it's in a sock so you don't drop it). I LOVE THIS BOOK. Can't say enough. It's saved my sanity during years of arthritic problems (beginning at only 30) and ongoing pain. Read it, use it, keep it at-hand...you'll be glad you did.

A great book! Along with the theracane(which you don't really need to use it) my back and neck have finally had some relief.
If you are not sure you want to buy it, then check it from your near by library or interlibrary loan, and I guarantee you will end up purchasing it like I did. It is worth every penny and frequently refer to it again and again.

My experience is very much like the authors... I struggled with very painful tennis elbow for several months, and doc said the only options were anti-inflammatories, cortisone shots, or surgery. I didn't like any of those options, and out of desperation visited a massage therapist at my health club. Fortunately the therapist had studied trigger points and shared enough knowledge with me to make me dangerous. After that visit and one more day of me poking around on my arm, the elbow pain was gone, like someone loosened the vise. I found several of them above, below, and in the elbow. The newly unlocked muscles were pretty weak, but after just two weeks of trigger point therapy, light weights and stretching, they are fully recovered. I bought the book and a thera-cane to assist with my crusade against trigger points. Can't wait to give doc the bad news.

It really sucks when you have to struggle and this poor woman was sick and couln't help what she had to do. But they way children are treated in orphanages and foster homes are outrageous. People wake up these children just need love and compassion.

I just finished this book--what an emotional ride. I was worried it was a story about parents who actually put their child in a cage. But it is not about parents abusing children; more about a child's survival, love, and connection, all while living in a harsh and deadening world.

If you are going to read this book, be ready for it to open your heart, bring about deep-seated emotions, and be impossible to put down.

I could not put this book down once I started reading it. From page one it drew me in and took a hold of me in this young mans life and his family's ordeals. I never have felt more grateful for my own upbringing since having lived through Jennings eyes. He only had his "doggy" and that was his only escape from the cruel world around him. After I was done reading the book I was so offended by orphanages and the way the treated children I wanted to find out where he was at, who were the nuns who hurt him, I was angry and really wanted revenge for him. I think we all need to open our eyes to the system and help these children out and make sure this abuse does not happen these children belong to all of us and do not deserve this, they all deserve a better place with some family. Jennings deserved a home with a real doggy from the start and I ached for him.

This was such a sad book but it was well written and made you think about the system. This poor kid was placed in several orphanages because his mom was too sick to care for him and he was waiting for her to come back. The fact that this happened to the author made this such an inspiring book. I read this till the wee hours of the night because I was so inspired by it with the lights on. I couldn't put it down. I felt sorry for the poor kid. Another great read is a child called it. Both are fantastic.

I read this book when I was in grammar school many years ago and I still remember the emotions I felt back then. This is a sad, but powerful book about one boy's trials and tribulations in the orphanage system. Riveting.

Dr. Orloff tackles issues dealing with difficult people and situations in everyday life. She shares how these situations stress us and lower our energy levels. With exercises and discussion, the reader is lead on a path toward a healthier life. The book is interesting without a dull moment. Anyone reading this book is sure to benefit

Dr. Judith Orloff's book has given me so many important insights about myself! One of the most important is how to act in order to maximize my positive energy. This has an impact on practically everything I do AND the things I choose not to do! Sometimes when my awareness of my true needs are a bit clouded I use one of the other things that the book has taught me: my intuition. It's so amazing that all the answers to our questions are within us but sadly enough most of us never listen to our inner voice. Earlier, I could hear my inner voice from time to time, but the voice was so faint that most of the time I chose not to believe it. After reading the book I now realise that it's the true me that is trying to tell me something important. Today its voice is a lot louder and I LISTEN carefully!

What a perfect book at the most perfect time. I was skimming bookshelves and thought..."this looks good, give it a try". My intuition was right on. Dr. Judith Orloff presents in a very easy to understand and conveyed way multiple ways to promote positive energy. She is unique in her approach and dares to enter the world of sexuality for which I truly applaud her. It was such an easy and enjoyable read and I actually feel better for it. Being a therapist myself I know that I will use some of her techniques with my clients and most definitely with myself.

Wonderful information! And it's explained simply for all to understand - no mysteries here. We'd all be happier people if we'd nurture our energy in every moment.

I received this book as a gift, and I really enjoyed it. Many of us sometimes come into contact with the people Dr. Orloff refers to as energy vampires; those people who leave us feeling tired and drained.

She provides us with 10 prescriptions for boosting our energy and combating energy vampires. My favorite is "find a nurturing spiritual path that fits your own beliefs and inner stirrings."

I am still fininshing this book because I skipped the chapter that was about each individual illness that animals can get. I am going to go back through and read them later minus the cat illnesses as I don't have cats.

This book was well written although it gets a bit technical at times and I had to read some stuff 2x but it gave me a lot of insight on the damage that pet food does to dogs and for that matter what is really in pet food!

I would recommend it to anyone interested in improving thier pets life but wouldn't use it as my only resource I have bought several books to see what is in each of them and learn as much as I can mainly so my dogs can have a healthier lives and so I can be informed when talking to my vets who are very conventional.

The book is written by a veterinarian first trained in standard medical education. He took his education and added holistic training with experiences added by his brother who is also a veterinarian. I don't buy all the concepts presented, but it certainly gives hope to all of us who want our pets, and ourselves, to live long and high quality of life, lives.

This book is fantastic! I've gotten so many tips that have benefited my 13 year old dog. I wish I had this many years ago so I could have prevented some of the problems she is experiencing. I've already noticed a huge improvement in her health and I've only had the book for about a month.
Dr. Goldstein's approach to the health and well being of animals just makes perfect sense. I will never again feed my dog commercial dog food and I feel like an idiot for believing it was healthy for her in the first place.

If you want your dog (or cat) to live a long, healthy life, get this book!

In July of 2006 my beloved Bogey was diagnosed with TCC of the bladder. The vets that I took him to said that he probably had less than 6 months to live. I did not accept their opinions as final so I started researching alternative treatments when my mom gave me this book. After reading it I contacted Dr. Marty at his office in New york and he began treating Bogey with supplements and we changed Bogey's diet to a raw diet. Unfortunately, we lost our battle with cancer on July 7, 2007 but Bogey lived 6 months longer than any of the other vets expected him too under Dr. Marty's care. I don't believe that every treatment works for every animal but I truly believe that Dr. Marty gave me 6 extra months with my baby when other vets wrote him off. This book gives you a different perspective on pet care and it works. Bogey was living proof.

This book is more than just a "take this vitamin for this problem." He really gets you to think about wellness and nutrition as a whole and he backs up much of the information with footnotes and actual facts. This book was the final motivator for me to switch my dogs to a homecooked diet AND it finally got me & my husband on the right track with our own diets. If you want your dogs to live a good, long life without being bogged down by drugs and foods made from "rendered animals" (road kill, euthanized pets, etc) - READ THIS BOOK.

Just as the majority of others,I give this book 5 stars. I have been using it almost daily for several years. True,I am a holistic practitioner,but I use it personally with and for my family. My husband actually got the book as his course text for a nutrition course in his Acupuncture graduate program. I have used it far more than he.
With beginners,or say,someone new to all of the 'type diagnosing',I usually recommend they look through the back glossary of foods,categorized by types such as legumes,veggies,fruits,etc. Pitchford breaks down the 'energies' of the foods so well,and gives a brief overview of how they are helpful,along with some basic recipes.
He also has sections on oils,sweeteners,greens/chlorophyll,etc.
I just don't see how anyone would be confused or find it contradictory,if you take it a little at a time,and don't attempt to 'diagnose yourself western style'. [this is the trick-it's not a how-to manual;it's a resource guide!]
You can learn the basics of what is important and why,which types of sweeteners to replace with what,etc.
What I love about this book,too,is his focus on assisting those who are transitioning from a more standard western diet. ie,he will discuss meat,fish and their healing properties,when they may be needed,when to avoid,how to transition from,etc.
This is not an 'all or none' preachy type of book.
Pitchford is sincere and obviously knowledgeable/experienced.
For all around great,useful books on health and nutrition,I really cannot think of any other that I'd recommend so highly. Accessible to beginners,but will still challenge/provide info for more experienced folks/practitioners.

If you are serious about getting healthy the natural way this is an encyclopedia of knowledge. GET IT!

You can't read this book in one sitting. It's massive. Best used as a reference book. A must for your library.

Healing with Whole Foods: Asian Traditions and Modern Nutrition
Very informative. Written so it can be easily understood. Has helped me understand my condition better and what I can do to help myself.

this is the most amazing health book I've ever read, it is like a bible for healing and/or balancing your life throught food and good habits.

This is more than a book to read - it's a thorough and carefully outlined textbook on a subject that I already knew a bit about -- but didn't realize how valuable the program Donna Eden explains could actually be to my health! Her knowledge of how the body's subtle internal systems really function is enlightening and much of it proves more applicable than the commonplace redundancy of most medical authors who follows the all-too-familiar traditional health paths. Her 5-minute daily routine alone is worth much more than the price of this creative book, and after learning these refreshing exercise as an intro you are captivated and immediately ready to delve into the volume's many other health-improving components.

It is great to be able to find a process for self-care that is easy and works - this is IT.

This is a wonderful book. It covers all areas of energy healing in a very user-friendly manner. I would reccommend this book to anyone who has an interest in non "western" alternitives to wellness and healing.

I have researched the subject of EMT and found that using double blind, objective studies proved that it is not effective and does not work. You will notice that all references used in this text and other books about this subject are doctors and others that participate in the marketing and profit by selling their books, tapes, DVD's, seminar, etc. You can get free information about EMT by doing a Google search which will cover most if not all that's in this book. I don't like to see people waste their money on stuff that is unproven. The materially didn't help me.

This is a really great book! Easy to understand and apply. Interesting to read, and it's an excellent reference book as well! I also have the Energy Kit that Donna Eden has out and recommend getting that too. The info in the kit is contained in this book, but there is a DVD included where you can actually see Donna Eden doing the energy work and it makes it much easier to know that you're doing things correctly, plus she is fun to watch. You also a booklet and cards that make it even easier to do the energy works, along with the pendulum. I have other pendulums, but this one has a string thru the top which makes it very easy to use to 'spin' over chakras and meridian points. It's not difficult to see that this energy stuff works because you can muscle/energy test and see the differences immediately. Highly recommend this book.

I absolutely LOVE this book. Dr. Sha teaches you how to heal yourself and others by using various chants, affirmation-like sayings, and by using various positions of your hands. He's a great writer and the techniques are easy to grasp and use in daily living. I recommend this book to everyone with an open-mind and desire to heal.

I have read this book and four of Master Sha's other books. I would say that it is a clever and eclectic marketing mix of new age, psychic and traditional qi gong techniques. The techniques for healing specific ailments seem to be congruent with similar healing techniques which fall under "energy work".

The leap of faith for me is ignoring the inconsistencies in his seemingly virtuous intentions. Some things just send up a red flag for me.

I wrote a review called "Missing the Obvious" for another one of his books. In that review I made the honest observation that if Master Sha's soul healing methods work, and he includes specific techniques for healing the eyes, why does he wear glasses?

Since then, I looked for contact information on his website. I called the contact phone number and spoke with one of his representatives. The representative I spoke with assured me repeatedly that Dr. Sha does not wear glasses. I told the representative that I have five of Dr. Sha's books and in all his photographs in the books and often on the book covers, he was wearing glasses. As we spoke I was staring at the website's homepage where Dr. Sha is smiling with glasses on. The representative said, "Oh it's because, like many other healers and guru's, he's so busy taking care of others he hasn't taken the time to heal himself."

Is it just me? Since when have we become so gullible or so helplessly in need of a medical cure or warm hug that we'll believe anything we're told?

My intentions are not to take away any hope for any readers involved; however, I would like people to make an informed decision as to whether or not they want to invest their money, time and energy on the newest spin in snake oil, even if it does tout of being on the N.Y. Times Best Seller list or come recommended by another best selling author.

Dr. Sha's concept of healing the soul first, then the mind and body healing will follow will make tremendous sense to anyone who has done any serious level of self exploration and soul searching, and will be quite eye opening to anyone suffering from illnesses that western doctors cannot explain. Dr. Sha's style of combining prayer, meditation, positive intention, visual imagery, and energy healing is revolutionary.
The exercises he describes which I have I tried provided amazingly powerful results.

This book is a practicle guide to awakening happiness at the deepest level. Dr. Sha's beautiful and noble intentions radiate throughout it's pages. Practicing the teachings in this book has readied me to take on new challenges. Thank you, Master Sha.

OK ,,TO ELABORATE ON MISTER SHA.......I WALKED OUT ON HIS LECTURE..his students were doing healings and talking/channeling...it was unbearable..
as far as the book goes if the exercises help you GREAT,,....
but he seems to be a very slick businessman....

Soul Wisdom I has so many blessing in it that I will go back and reread the chapters I have finished. As with Master Sha's book, SOUL MIND BODY Medicine, just the first few pages takes hold of my heart and doesn't ever let it go. Soul Wisdom I is another wonderful teaching book that I will share with my family and friends.

Dr. Sha has written a beautiful book that makes his spiritual wisdom available to everyone. He offers step-by-step instruction on how to heal our souls, and as a result, to create physical healing on every level. He explains why organs function improperly and shows the reader how to transform disfunction into optimal functioning, by balancing and healing the individual souls associated with each individual organ.

The exercises that Dr. Sha provides will help you to transform your body and to facilitate organ balance and function. Beyond the exercises, Dr. Sha shares his belief that each of us can experience optimal physical functioning and spiritual joy, and his belief in our right to do so, shines through this book. He also demonstrates how soul-wellness on the cellular and organic level facilitates emotional health, physical wellness and energy balance and shares examples of individual healings that have occurred through the use of his methods. Has anyone noticed that Dr. Zhi Gang Sha wears glasses? This review is not a criticism nor is it intended to show any disrespect. It's just an honest observation and a concern as to avoid being gullible. In Soul Wisdom: Practical Treasures to Transform Your Life, there is considerable attention given to the effectiveness of Soul Healing. In another one of Dr. Sha's books, Soul, Mind, Body, Medicine, there are no limitations put on the diseases that can be healed using his soul healing practices. For example, in the section on Conditions of the Eyes, there are specific techniques given for healing nearsightedness, cataracts, and retinal atrophy.

If this method is effective then why can't the author heal his own eyesight and eliminate the need to wear glasses? Maybe there is a significant and understandable factor involved that makes an exception of his eyesight being able to be healed. I'd like to know. Can someone help answer this question?

I have bought five of the Dr. Sha's books and would really like to begin by believing there is credibility in his healing methods.

While what I read seems very interesting, the reviews were pretty misleading, as they were all for the complete book, not for this short ebook that is basically a preview. It's one chapter, or part of one chapter of the complete book. This short does NOT give you the exact "how-to" of soul communication, but it does give you a sneak peek at what it's about for a fraction of the cost. Amazon really should keep separate reviews for the short and complete works.
