Do you like building things? This book is about Bionicles. Bionicles are weird looking legos that you connect together. WIll the Bionicle Toa beat the evil Vakama? Maybe or maybe not. Read it to find out! Recommended for 8-13.

If your tv's jammed and you really want to watch it your backup will always be your book. Bionicle Adventures #4: Legends of Metru Nui,has more lines than the movie. I read it more than 10 times and it never gets boring. It's like reading a movie. And it doesn't waste electricity for 1 hour and about 30 min. Great gift for girls and boys!

The book I'm reviewing is BIONICLE Adventures #4: Legends of Metru Nui by Greg Farshtey. It is based on a movie with a similar name. It is about six Matoran villagers of the island city, Metru Nui, that have been transformed into Toa, protectors of the island. They must figure out why so many Matoran are vanishing. They must also escape the Vahki enforcers and the Dark Hunters, Nidhiki and Krekka. I give this book four stars because I am very familiar with BIONICLE and have liked it for a while. There's also lots of action in the book. I would recommend this book to a friend.

Hi. My name is Nicholas (I feel I should express my first name)and I purchased this book. This is an AWESOME BOOK! It is based on the new Bionicle 2: Legends of Metru Nui movie. I rate it 5 stars because well, it is such a cool book! This is a real great job for Greg Farshtey (writer).

From a true Bionicle fan, Nicholas

On the side, the eight pages of "Exclusive movie pictures" are not all movie pictures. The first 6 pictures (The first 3 pages) are regular Toa Metru pictures. Pages 4-8, though, are movie pictures.

Hi.(...)This is a very good book, and it follows DC Bionicle comics #17 and #18 very well, but also have the missing adventures of finding the other Great Disks. I rate it 4 stars because, well, it is very good and a nice, long read. Great job, Greg Farshtey (writer)!

I enjoyed "Mystery of Metru Nui," but this was a better book. Lots of action, some really creepy stuff (loved the Morbuzakh seeds scene!), and a plot that moves really fast. I would definitely recommend it!

The 136-page book is well-written as all Greg's books, and is age-appropriate for the audience. It moves the story along well without getting bogged down, or trying to address too many side issues.

The action follows a trio of foursomes as they search out the hidden Great Kanoka disks in Metru Nui. Two Toa, two Matoran journey throughout each section of the giant city, avoiding the Vahki and learning to work with their new powers - and each other. All the while, watching to make sure the Matoran don't slip away unnoticed.

The book provides more detailed descriptions of Metru Nui, enough to really get the feeling of how different this environment is from the island of Mata Nui. The archives of Onu-Metru are a particularly intriguing place, where just about anything can happen... the place is a treasure trove of possibilities. The furnaces of Ta-Metru likewise had a good description, although most of the rest of Metru Nui's suburbs could've used some more description to bring them more to life.

As each pair of Toa follow their (sometimes unwilling) Matoran guides in search of Great Kanoka, it becomes increasingly apparent how different the entire culture of Metru Nui is from Mata Nui. Instead of taking the easy route of recreating Mata Nui in an urban setting, the Bionicle team has really created a totally different feeling for Metru Nui. The characters retain some familiarity, but they are essentially new characters. Whenua, Nokama, Onewa, and Matau as Turaga never seemed to have as much personality as they do as Toa Metru. Vakama and Nuju were more fleshed-out as Turaga, but even their personalities are quite different from what seasoned Bionicle fans know of them in later (storyline-wise) incarnations.

It's impossible not to compare these six characters to Tahu, Kopaka, Gali, and the others. The Toa Metru generally seem more timid in assuming a leadership role, less confident in their abilities to access and control their powers. Probably the largest difference is the fact that Toa Metru were "promoted" from Matoran to Toa, so they have existing relationships with the Matoran the Mata Nui Toa didn't initially have. This may be the reason there's more petty bickering between this bunch - not that Tahu never argued with Kopaka, for example, but there's definitely a difference.

The Matoran are also different in a way. More world-wise, for one, more confident of their place. At the same time, they show a greater range of "human" foibles than their later jungle incarnations. Each of the six Matoran guiding the Toa toward the Kanoka display signs of self-interest overcoming the good of society, which never really happened on Mata Nui.

And the last thing very obviously different: the mysterious ruler of the city, Turaga Dume and his Vahki enforcement squads. The Toa Metru, far from being revered guardians, are forced to sneak and avoid the Vahki squads. The suspense and mystery of Dume leads to the third book of the series, The Darkness Below, which itself presumably leads into the storyline for the upcoming second Bionicle movie.

The latter part of the book is a confrontation with the Morbuzakh, which seemed to have been given short shrift... the climax of the book seemed a tad rushed, especially after most of the book having been given over to the search for the disks. However, most readers should like the confrontation itself and its aftermath.

In all, this is a worthy addition to the Bionicle line of books, and I'm looking forward to the next in the series, which will be available in June.

Mr. Farshtey has outshine him shelf in this book. He has created such a superb, incredible, extraordinary story. One that bring origins of the Turaga into a incredulous conclusion.

The story begins with in the shores of Mata Nui. Every thing is ready. They are going back, back were everything stared......

As the Toa Metru made there way back to Mata Nui, Vakama fells that he needs to go back for the Mask of Time. Before Makuta gets it.

In a series of unfortunate events, Vakama finds him shelf in a nightmare. He alone must fight evil from every corner. Be making a unique alliance with shadow, he may find a way to bring light to the shadows.

This story answered a lot of question, but give new ones. Mystery after mystery. Revelation after revelation. A shocking surprise, and the truth. The truth of the Toa Metru.

This book is so well written, so emotional, so intrigue (it should have been made into film.)

This book is remarkable in many ways, not the least of which is its mythological ties. This book has one of the greatest Jesus stories of our time, retold with fantasy and science fiction, to bring relevance to the ancient stories of our past.

This Bionicle book is a good latest edition to the series. My 9 year old got this on Christmas morning and blazed through it before brunch. He liked this as an ending to the underwater storyline and then how they foreshadowed to the next sky-based storyline. He enjoys taking details from the book to give his Lego characters more "life" when he plays with them. There is an undersea mob of creatures that was a little scary but not too bad. I think it is on par with the usual Bionicle books.

Piraka History 101

Review Date: 2006-11-18
The fourth installment of the Bionicles Legend book takes us a step back... like 5,000 years back. Rather than carry on with the cliffhanger we were left with at the end of book 3, this book focuses on the history of the Piraka, the Dark Hunters, and the Brotherhood of Makuta. For those of us "invested" in the Bionicles, it was very interesting to learn more about not just the five Piraka and how they came to the island, but to finally get some back story on the Dark Hunters, Brotherhood, and Toa that have appeared in the other series (and of course, have been sold by Lego). It is fascinating how it all weaves together AND some familiar characters make brief appearences (I even got goosebumps, and I'm too old for that stuff).
My son (8yrs old bionicle freak) and I agree that this was a great book. Don't skip it just because it gets in to the history... that's part of why it is so great from the bionicle fan perspective.
Now, on to book 5... we have to find out who gets the Mask of Life!!!

My 9 year old son is a Bionicle maniac and loved this book. He asked me to read it to him aloud, but I found the experience unpleasant due to the complicated names, etc. (Yes, I am actually a decent reader!) However, he has all of the characters memorized and breezes through. The Bionicle books have increased his creative and dramatic play with the toys. He has reread this book multiple times. If your child enjoys the Bionicle toys, all of the books in this series are a winner. Note-I imagine that this book is in the 4th grade reading level range.

My 8-year-old son is a big fan of the bionicle toys and I think his initial interest had a lot to do with the bionicle books series. I'm sure many people look at these books as just a marketing ploy, but they are so much more than that. A rich history, full of mystery, adventure and action have been brought to life in all of the bionicle series. The "Legends" series is no exception. Our copies of "Power Play" and "Dark Destiny" arrived the day before we left for San Diego to visit Legoland. My son brought them on the plane along with his gameboy. He became so engrossed in the books that the gameboy didn't get any play! He read straight through! A few weeks later I picked up the books and found out for myself why. The story of the Toa, Matoran, Inika, and Piraka is fantastic. This series is by far more involved than any of the past Bionicle book series. By the end of "Power Play" I was thirsting for more and once through "Dark Destiny" could not wait for the next book to see what was going to happen! I highly recommend the books for boys and girls alike, particularly if they are in to the bionicles. Even if they are not big readers, the interest in the stories will convert them!

One of the Greater Adventures!
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2005-09-24
Basically, if you have read the entire Chronicles AND the the previous Adventures, then you basically know that BIONICLE has taken a 2-year flashback. At the conclusion of the 2003 Story, the Toa learn of a strange new land, one they are destined to journey to. Funny thing is, this Island is perhaps even MORE ancient than the island they currently live on, Mata Nui. Before they journey, the village elders, the Turaga, most notably Turaga Vakama, decide to tell the Toa & Matoran (the Villagers) all they know of this ancient land. THAT's the flashback, which has taken 2 years to complete, story & set wise.

By BA#8, the evil Horde of Visorak, four-legged venomous spider creatures led by Sidorak and his Viceroy - Roodaka, have taken over the land of Metru Nui. This horde has traveled island to island destroying ALL life, which is bad for us readers because we know little of these islands to begin with!

Anyways, by this Adventure, the Toa Metru who have been poisoned by the venomous Visorak now must fight the uncontrollable beast from within, AS WELL AS save the Matoran they have come to rescue. Also they have the side job of trying to find a cure for their Visorak bites, or else they will remain half-beasts forever.

For devoted fans this book provides excellent answers to burning questions, and even brings up some new ones as well. From the Tahtorak, to the Krahka, the Hagah, and even the Rahaga . . . devoted fans whould not get bored!

For new fans, I highly suggest you read the Chronicles FIRST, followed by the Adventures. Mind you, there are still 2 Adventures after this one, and then there's the all-new Legends Series coming in 2006, where readers will finally return to the present, which we have left off from since 2003.

Oh, and boy does this book get me excited about the film!
