neat split-level story line

i got this book because i had another in the series. i was dissapointed becuse it wasn't available in board book, but when i got it i saw why. there is a short line for each letter of the alphabet for little kids, and then a longer paragraph for each letter as well, that goes into the game on a deeper level for older kids. very well illustrated - highly recommended as a book that will grow with your kid.

My daughter is going to be a elementary teacher and she is collecting these books for her classroom. She loved it!
I bought it for Christmas for her. I bought a couple others as well. They were a big hit Christmas morning. She likes the fact that the book has both a version for older and a version for younger children right within the book.

A sweet but honest story about how one young boy deals with the challenges diabetes brings and still lives life to its fullest. Great illustrations, and a positive and inspirational message.

Probably most appropriate for kids 12 and younger.

Written for the Jaguar enthusiast

This is the story of Jaguar automobiles and the company that produced them. It is lavishly illustrated with photos of Jaguar products ranging from motorcycle sidecars built in the 1920s through the XJ models of the early '70s. An entire chapter is devoted to the XK models covering their development and racing accomplishments. The book is chock - full of photos of production and racing models. Several chapters describe the racing heritage in detail. Any Jaguar enthusiast will really like this book. I know I did. I highly recommend this book!

I work with kids who have various learning and developmental disabilities. Reading materials are often too babyish. One of my kids, a 16-year old boy with various learning disabilities loved this book! In fact, he wants me to get him some more books by the same author. Thanks to Gail Herman, the author.

The story of a true sports hero, the T-Wolves K.G.
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2002-04-23
In Minnesota Kevin Garnett is respected not because he is a first-team All-NBA player or because he makes more money than anybody else in basketball. K.G. is respected because he is still here. Stephon Marbury bailed on the Twin Cities for the Nets to be closer to his home in NYC (of course, he plays in Phoenix now, so there is some justice in this world), and he is not the only way to get out of town for greener pastures. But K.G. has committed to the team, the city and the fans, and that speaks big time in today's sports world.

Arlene Bourgeois Molzahn tells the story of how Garnett made the jump from high school to the NBA, covering his career through his first five seasons, through the 1999-2000 season. That was the year K.G. was named first team All-NBA, made first team All-NBA defensive as well, and finished second in the MVP voting to Shaqueille O'Neal. However, she keeps the focus not only on his accomplishments but on the hard work he puts into getting the most out of his talents and the community work he does to give something back.

There are plenty of basketball superstars who do not know how to play the game or how to be a decent human being, but K.G. is certainly not one of them, as young readers will discover in this excellent juvenile biography. This is why if you look at the other titles in the Sports Heroes series you only find the special people in sports, like Brett Favre, Derek Jeter, Miam Hamm, Sheryl Swoopes and Tiger Woods.
