Gravitation: Master Key to the Universe

Review Date: 2007-07-16
Gravitation: Master Key to the Universe is a book describing the gravitational theory of the author. Unlike most contemporary theories about gravitation, the author's theory does not build upon previously accepted theories such as Newton's Law of Gravitation and Einstein's Theory of Relativity. Instead, Havel's Law of Gravitation is the product of completely unique thought processes.

The key concept in this theory is the importance of vacuons that are propelled at the atomic level creating the attracting phenomena of gravitation. This concept completely defies the currently accepted theories that label gravitation as a force between objects. Much of this book explains how Havel's Law of Gravitation compares to these accepted theories and how the author's ideas differ from contemporary views.

The sheer amount of formulas, charts, and diagrams help to explain the author's ideas with a great deal of explanation and clarity. Nonetheless, this book is not written for the average lay person or even a person with a passing interest in physics. Instead, this book to meant to introduce the author's ideas into the arena for discussion and critique by students and researchers in the physics field.

Deftly written by Karel Havel (a professional engineer with particular interest in theoretical physics and astronomy), Gravitation Master Key To The Universe pre-sents an atomic model to explain gravitation, one of the greatest mysteries of science heretofore explained only in mathematical or geometrical models. A seminal, thoughtful, technical, yet quite "reader accessible" study of a complex mystery governing how the Universe itself works, Gravitation: Master Key To The Universe is a welcome contribution to the growing library of theoretical physics in general, and the study of gravitation on the atomic level (and why the galaxies in the universe are drifting away from one another) in particular.

Who's to say they can't? Adventurers Dobbs and Muldoon have a get rich quick scheme that they are sure will work - robbing an entire planet. "The Great Planet Robbery" is author Craig DiLouie's third novel alongside his dozens of other prolific accomplishments tells the story of two friends following an old map to a planet that is supposedly rich with gold - and maybe far more than that. No one had ever said it would be easy for them, as there are those who would protest to the pillaging of their home world. "The Great Planet Robbery" is highly recommended to science fiction fans everywhere and deserves a place on community library sci-fi shelves.

What an enjoyable romp! Travel through light years of tongue-in-cheek humor and adventure with Dobbs and Muldoon, the heroic (sort-of) colonial marines at the center of this wonderful new science fiction novel about the ultimate heist. Reminiscent of Heinlein and Harrison, DiLouie's writing makes for an easy and enjoyable read as he drops you into strange new worlds peopled by strange new creatures (where can I find my very own Crickets?) with situations that make you laugh out loud. Strongly recommend making this part of your sci-fi collection!

The best resume book I've used!

As a recent college graduate writing my first real resume, I found this book tremendously helpful. It takes you through the whole process step-by-step and covers everything from writing your resume and cover letter, to having a successful interview, to writing thank you notes. It even includes a chapter on the electronic/e-mail and scannable/keyword resumes (both of which are totally necessary in today's high-tech job market). There are also some great lists of "power words" and keywords that make employers really take notice of you. Plus, the resources section in the back of the book gave me some good ideas of where to begin my job search. Overall, this is the best and most complete resume writing tool a recent college grad could have.

I needed to create a key word and scannable resume--fast. Though I'm not a recent college grad, I found the easy-to-follow advice on creating scannable electronic resumes to be worth the price of the book, and then some!

Wonderful and Exciting Spaceflight Photographs

The Association of Space Explorers is a unique group of individuals whose only requirement for membership is that one has to have journeyed into space. The goal of the ASE is to bring the excitement and wonder of space exploration to the general public. This book, "The Greatest Adventure" is their second book dedicated to this ideal, and is an excellent companion to their first book, "The Home Planet."

This coffee table book presents some of the best photographs taken of the Earth and a few of the Moon by both astronauts and cosmonauts, from the early days of the space race till the mid-1990's when this book was published. Due to the coffee table format of the book, the high resolution, color photographs are extremely impressive. Accompanying these wonderful photographs is a small piece describing each astronaut's voyage and impression of being in space which includes the entire range of astronauts, from commanders, pilots and mission specialists.

New printings of this book are common, so if it is listed as not being in print, check back frequently, because a new print might be out soon.

ONE OF BEST ALL-TIME BOOKS DONE ON APOLLO/MOON

Review Date: 2000-06-30
Ive read over200 books about Project Apollo to the Moon, and I have to rate this book as one of the best ever on moon landings, and all involved with this miraculous adventure of mankind! The book tells just about everything, covers it all about the missions and has many good excerpts from all the great astronauts from past to present! This is one of the few Apollo/Moon books that deserves an extra special place on anyones coffee table! This book deserves not to be merely looked at, but can be read many times over! I do not own it yet, but have read it twice, and cant wait to purchase it! Ed Gibson and The Association Of Space Explorers have done a wonderful job on this fantastic book of just what the title implies: Going to The Moon was in fact, and still is mankinds greatest adventure to this day, and probably will be for many years to come yet!

Who Are These Guys?

Review Date: 2003-04-18
One of the best books ever written on Army senior-level leadership.

Parts of it a somewhat dated after nearly thirty years, but if this had been required reading for the media prior to Gulf War II, they would have started the war much better prepared.

There are only a handful of writers (Atkinson, Ricks, Simons) who show that they really "get it", and Mylander (an Army brat, I believe) is another.

As they say in the NBA, "Folks! We have us a SERIES!"

Review Date: 2007-10-15
Grimoire: Tracked by Terror is the second book in Brad Strickland's Grimoire series. I loved the first book; easily as much as this book, but I wanted to wait for the second in the series to write a review, just to see if the great momentum could be kept up. Well, I'm happy to report that we have ourselves a bona-fide fabulous young adult series!

The book(s) centers around Jarvey Midion: A young man of 12 on a vacation to England. In book one he learns that he's the latest in a long line of Midion sorcerers (with powers and abilities he never knew he had, and does not quite know how to use). His kindly parents are snatched away by an evil distant-relative Midion. They become imprisoned in one of the multitude worlds held within the Grimoire: A tome of different worlds/universes created by the various descendants of the Midion lineage for their own twisted purposes. The worlds are deliciously spooky and mysterious. You simply HAVE to find out what happens next. You can't help but want to explore.

After learning that his parents are somewhere inside the Grimoire, Jarvey embarks on a fantastic journey to find them. In book one he meets Betsy Dare, the fearless, clever and resourceful young heroine of the series who helps Jarvey along in his quest. But, Betsy too has a secret. In book one Jarvey and Betsy find themselves trying to escape, time and again, from the many cruel denizens and traps of the various worlds within the Grimoire. You see Jarvey did something no other Midion had ever done in the countless years the Grimoire has existed. He entered the worlds of the Grimoire WITH the Grimoire itself! This makes him extremely powerful, and extremely valuable.

In book two, Tracked by Terror, Jarvey and Betsy jump further into more lands within the volume of the Grimoire. They encounter zombie robots, evil spirits, pirates, enormous gorilla guards (which I thought was cool, because I love King Kong), hypnotizing cobras, wicked trees and a Midion patriarch that hunts humans for sport and another that writes really, really BAD theater, and makes his family act in it. Did I mention that this book is funny too?

Brad Strickland knows how to scare us, how to make us laugh and how to keep us turning pages. This book has everything a fan of the genre wants. It's well written and poses lots of delectable questions that reveal themselves in fun and entertaining ways. No pages are wasted, and we very quickly come to care for our heroes. Highly recommended!

The book is filled with a series of exceptional projects in dealing with the transition between the interior and exterior space and the multiple ways of ground sculpturing. The projects are displayed with photographs, renderings, and drawings which further explain plan and section design. The book is inspirational and a great reference material.

As an avid reader, I have indulged my ravenous feeding upon Shawn P. Madison's work for quite a while now. His genre is absolutely overflowing with his unique vernacular. He creates worlds and characters that are realistic and convincing. In Shawn's novel, Guarder Lore you can see his imagination and his intelligence both caressing the story and the readers attention while grasping a whole new world he constructs.

You get no spoilers from The Brutal Dreamer, but you may be wondering what Guarder Lore is about. This highly explosive novel is based upon an elite militaristic soldiers of the galaxy and the leader of the Guarder Squadron is Frank "Buzzer" Buzzito. Buzzer has always proven to be the best guarder in all venues of their missions. This military is the most secretive of squadrons that have been sanctioned by the United Earthian Nations (U.E.N.) to fight the Soviets; a hard-core communistic Super Power. These enormously formidable military guarders are appointed by this U.E.N. Judiciary Board to defend their interests at all costs. There are no tasks too difficult or no odds too great for these warriors. They are greatly feared for their brutal combatant skills by their foes. The Guarders do the dirty work no one dares discuss, and no one dares to think about. And they do it with no conscious, and no remorse, they do it out of duty.

Shawn's creativity flows well in this Scientific saga filled with clever one liners, incredible and believable characters, and enough vivid details that paints a picture for a bookworm to bask in. His Science Fiction scruples are ingenious as he adds a splash of gore and horror to the already powerful scenes he has set up.

An awesomely creative Sci-Fi Horrific story by an extremely talented author.

This work is a terrific showcase of the talent of Mr. Madison. Well plotted, well written and paced evenly, I enjoyed this great story from start to finish. Buzzer is a cool character and this is well worth the price. One really gets caught up in the plot and heck, are left wanting more! Fans of sci-fi or fant adventure will eat it up.

Understanding the International Institutions in The Haag

Review Date: 2008-03-30
The Hague: Legal Capital of the World captures a readers head and heart. The book's five hundred and sixty nine pages are as rich in content as the color of its hard glossy cover. Each chapter, respectively introduced with the institution's unique international symbol, shares a two page spread with institution contact information, and elegantly captures the essence of each building through a black and white photograph, as if one is doorstep, awaiting their personal guided tour.

Diplomats, scholars, and students, as well as residents of The Hague, will experience a fruitful feeling of time spent between the pages of this volume. With forwards by the Netherlands' Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Mayor of the City of The Hague, and the former United Nations Legal Counsel, the reader gains perspective on this book's valuable contents which includes treaties, statutes, articles, and more. Within such a vast and dense field, this volume highlights relevant institutional information which is succinctly organized and easy on the eyes. The fluidity and organization of this book clearly represents the contributions of the experts behind the making, and unveils why The Hague, is in fact, "the legal capital of the world". -Lisa Ferrouge

This book is a very organized and well-planned read. Sometimes author's take certain facts for granted but this book was very careful to alway mention the basics along side of the details. I loved it. Also, the footnotes were an added bonus. Professor Van Krieken is very intelligent and still down to earth and this shows in the text. If you need to know anything about international law, history of, the future policies..... you will be able to get it here.

These books are a lot of fun for boys who might be picky about what they read. If your child loves the Captain Underpants books, then turn him on to these.
