Deborah does an amazing job with this how - to on outdoor cooking. beautiful pictures and designs to inspire even the most uncreative of readers. highly recommended - she even includes pictures of her own amazing outdoor kitchen which is just a testament to her knowedge and experience. even if you are just looking for ideas or creative possibilities pick up a copy and you will not be disappointed- you truly get what you pay for. i wish i could just carry out all of the projects she puts in here!

Coastal Architects' Showcase

This book shows fifteen East Coast and West Coast homes by ten architects. One presumes the architects paid for the exposure. Six of the projects are in California while four are in Massachusetts. Each has an introductory page by Trulove then one or two pages of plans and elevations followed by excellent large photos. This book will be useful for those seeking an architect and those looking for design ideas. An abbreviated Materials and Finishes section provides that information plus Web addresses for the architects.

A well researched up to date analysis of NYC's waste policy. It is very thorough, articulate, and well illustarted with countless graphs and tables. A must read for anyone concerned with the state of our nation's urban envirnomental policy. Highly recommended.

A very intimate and unique look at living rooms- not just a book about living rooms and their interiors, but as personal expressions of their inhabitants.

Excellent treatment of the vanishing English Country House. Very sad but also Harris includes some wonderful commentary on local color and humorous personal experiences. A very entertaining book, full of the great names in British conservation efforts and architectural historians, of which he is one, working for RIBA. All in all a very nice little book on not only the loss of great houses but the passing of an age--a civilization gone with the winds of the First and Second World Wars.

This wonderful book shows you how to make your house, 1st apartment, or even dorm room into a home. Lots of great, easy to make items to show off your own personal style...EVEN IF YOU DON'T SEW! Thank Heaven for the staple gun, the hotglue gun, and most of all - this book!

This is an exceptionally well written book on the various eras in the architectural development of what I consider to be the most architecturally diverse state in the union. I have lived in North Carolina all of my life and I have seen at least 3/4 of the structures mentioned in the book. Bishir does a great job of explaining the forces that lead to the development of these great monuments to society. The photography is quite good, but for some strange reason all of the color photos are in the back of the book out of the context of the writing. I don't like having to flip to the back to see a "pretty" picture (there are plenty less "pretty" B & W photos within the text). This is a huge book that you will have to have a custom bookshelf built for. If you wish to put it on your coffee table please reinforce it first. I've lost three tables due to is mass. All kidding aside, this is a definate must read.

This book covers 16 homes designed by noted and not so noted architects in the Northwest. I personally liked one of these homes so much, I built one just like it as a weekend retreat. The styles vary, as do the materials and locations. Most of what you'll see in here is rather comtemporary and timeless -- it worked then, and it still works today!
