I've just received e-mails from a Captain in the British Royal Marines about to be sent to Iraq for the scond time. He shares how Esther's courage has been an inspiration to him. This book reaffirms that with a belief in God, one can survive and recover from the worst nightmare in the world's history. A must read for anyone who faces a difficult situation.A story of faith and heroism that challenges "they went like lambs to the Slaghter"

This is a beautifully-written study of property rights in the "Cradle of the Revolution" and important arguments between loyalist elites and yeoman farmers that led to important aspects of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. McConville shines light into areas of social and economic history that previously were little understood and not well enough appreciated.

This book, and its companion on the Shrubs of New Jersey, is easy to put in your pocket or pack and take with you when you go to the woods. The most commonly found shrubs and vines are briefly described and their leaves, flowers, or fruits are illustrated, so that anyone can identify them by matching the leaf to the page. This book is great for classes and field trips. I only wish that it was easier to find in stores.

Michael Davis displays a rare talent in his first novel. Abraham Hunt is a real life character taken right out of that time in American history when the battle of Trenton played a decisive role in America's fight for freedom. Lt. Colonel Abraham Hunt was there in Trenton having a Christmas eve party with the enemy officers while Washington and his troops crossed the Delaware in the sleet and cold of that fateful night.

Michael Davis takes that incident and puts Abraham Hunt on trial...and what a trial it is! Was this man guilty of treason to the American cause?

A truly riveting book. I highly recommend it.

Very in depth and detailed stories about the State Police

Review Date: 1997-03-06
This book started out with a person in the academy and how grueling it is. The timeline in the book is set up very well. John Stark was able to ride with the troopersa and see first hand what the troopers lives are like on the highways of New Jersey. The book covers many heros of the State Police and Really shows how difficult it is to be a State Trooper every day of your life. After reading the book, you will respect the State Troopers even more than you do now

So far, about half way through the book and I find the acticles as good or better than the General BR series. I love American History, and this book is quite an addictive read! Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein would be proud, as they are both written about as New Jersey residents.

Heard Perdita Buchan lecture on Utopian communities through the Pinelands Preservation Alliance. Her book is fascinating and this is a much under examined topic. I'd recommend this to anyone who is interested in New Jersey history, the history of Utopian communities, or town/village development and evolution.

Weingart Hits the Mark for the Classroom!
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2001-05-12
John Weingart's book is a well-written, detailed, and fascinating account of how the public's distrust of government can adversely affect public policy. Even though this book is a thorough case study of his experiences as Executive Director of the Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Facility Siting Board, it reads like a story and doesn't get bogged down in excessive scientific rhetoric.

This book is perfect for anyone interested in public policy and/or the environment. Weingart objectively reports on how the public reacted to the Siting Board's activities and how the Board unsuccessfully tried to alleviate the public's fears. This is a GREAT book for the classroom because it is an example of how the real world works. Not only is this book ideal for public policy and political science classes, but it is also great for chemical and environmental engineering classes since working with the community and government is so important in these areas.

Make a special note of all the creative and interesting headlines and opposition flyers the Siting Board had to deal with as they traveled from town to town looking for the right place to build the facility!

I had John Sinton as a professor at Richard Stockton College of NJ in the early 1990's. This book was the basic text book of the Land Use Planning Course he taught. I recently re-read this book and noticed that a lot of the stories and background on the history of South Jersey including the now extinct South Jersey "PINEYS", similar to the Tennessee and Kentucky "Hillbillies", and the ever elusive Pennsylvania "Townies". Anyone who wants to learn about the history of South Jersey should pick up this book, remember New Jersey isn't only about Springsteen and the Soprano's.
