Play Ball!: The Story Of Little League Baseball is a comprehensive and profusely illustrated history of a quintessentially American approach to organized recreation for children. Beginning with its debut in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, in 1939 when Carl Stotz, once having agreed to a game of catch with his nephews who were to young to play organized baseball ended up a year later with having created company a business community sponsored, three-team league baseball team for kids. The first official Little League game was played at Park Point in Williamsport on June 6, 1939, launching an organized team sport phenomenon that continues down to the present day. Play Ball! discusses such historically relevant issues as racial and gender equity (devoting an entire chapter to the struggle for girls to participate in the organization) and Carl Stotz split with Little League that still divides the community of Williamsport where it all began. The informative text is enhanced with appendices that include the winners of all Little League Baseball and Softball World Series; a year-by-year history of Little League; countries in Little League; as well as lists and pictures of some of the famous people who played the game as children. Play Ball! is very highly recommended and informative reading for all Little League fans!

This has got to be the best Junior League Cookbook I have, and I have so many Junior League Cookbooks! I truly am Impressed with this one! If you are a faith healer or just someone interested in the practice of healing, this book is for YOU. It is marvelously rich in insight, Scriptural support, and Principle. Jeffery was a natural healer and shares his Truth on every page. This book is not for the faint-hearted or the weak-minded. Spiritual Mind Practitioners will gain even deeper insight through a careful study of its 199 pages. There's even a brief but powerful biography of the man, lending an air of realism to every word he says. This is one book you will enjoy reading again and again as you progress into Higher Consciousness and healing.

This cook book, published in 1980, contains a multitude of excellent recipes for entertaining or groups (as well as smaller scale ones, but entertaining is the stated purpose of the collection). Personal favorites include the Coriander Chicken Salad (Chinese Chicken Salad), the EXCELLENT banana bread, and the flawless Gazpacho (a very fresh, tomatoey recipe, not creamy like some). Highly recommended.

Weird facts galore!

After you purchase this product, leaf through the pages. You'll find some well known and some obscure facts about some of the NHL's greatest goalies of all-time.

For instance, did you know that current Anaheim Ducks goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere uses a straw when he drinks from his water bottle during a game? I'll bet you didn't know that Ron Low of the then expansion Washington Capitals was responsible for allowing the most goals in one NHL season. Where were you on December 2, 1950 when Al Rollins and Turk Broda of the Toronto Maple Leafs became the first NHL goalies to share a shutout in one game for their team?

If you're a trivia junkie like me, this book is for you.

Here is another great finals win by the Pies in 1990.I went to the entire finals series that year.In fact i have not missed a final in Melbourne of Collingwood since the 1984 Preliminary final. There has been some interstate finals i have missed. This game was played at Waverly, which is no longer an AFL football ground. In 1990 the league changed its name from the VFL to The AFL.We had a nerve wracking draw the previous week,West Coast kicked a point at the end to level the scores. But this week was to be a different story when we kicked 8 goals to 2 in the first quarter.A further 4 goals to 2 in the second quarter gave us a huge 49 point lead at half time.West Coast tried to come back in the 3rd to narrow it to 30 points. But 5 goals to none in the final quarter gave us a 59 point win. That saw us play Essendon the following week,we gave them a bath.

The Book To Have If You are Just Starting Out In QI

Review Date: 2000-03-26
I cannot say enough good things about this book! Peter J. Pecora and Fotena A. Zirps are two people who are always at the forefront of the child and family service quality improvement field and this book is no exception. Quality Improvement and Evaluation in Child and Family Services : Managing into the Next Century covers a lot of territory, but it is easy to understand and full of information. It is like taking a course on quality improvement that covers a little bit of everything step by step. It is informative and groundbreaking enough for the seasoned qi professional, and simple enough for people in child and family services who are new to quality improvement. It would also be a good book for executive staff who are trying to become familiar with the quality improvement process and understand how it can work in their agency. Besides focusing on child and family services, the book describes what corporate sector quality improvement is doing and how to connect it to child and family services. People are always borrowing my copy and many people who borrowed it, ended up buying their own copy.
