Very few - if any -individuals know more about the New York Rangers than John Halligan, who spend over 25 years traveling with the team as their Director of Public Relations.
Here, Halligan puts together a genuine trip down memory lane that will tug at the heart strings of Ranger fans from each and every generation. Halligan's writing places you right back in the period(s) described, and it's a wonderful journey.
This book is a collector's item to be cherished for years to come by any and all who loved the Blueshirts, as well as hockey fans, in general, all over North America.

This book has everything you wanted to know about the NHL teams. Although a little dated it is still up to date but off 6 years. But that is fine. This book tells you what each team's stadium seating capacity and stanley cups they won. It also shows at the back of the book the list of Hockey Hall Of Fame inductees. In this book is the history of the NHL.

The holy grail of pro hockey information

Dan Diamond's annual traversal of every bit of information germane to the National Hockey League and its players is presented in this spectacular tome. No hockey fan anywhere should be without it.
The book not only contains statistical data on every player, every draft choice and every pro prospect out there, it shows every NHL team's draft picks for the past decade. No other single volume provides the wealth of information hockey nuts -- who are among the most driven and possessed fans in all sports -- want to know about.
I've been buying this book annually from Amazon.com the past three years after growing frustration pushed me away from my local mall-based book seller. Hockey is a great sport but so relatively few Americans follow it, compared to baseball or football, that retailers just won't make space available even for this, the holy grail of hockey information. Fortunately, the Internet and Amazon.com fill that gap splendidly.
I turn to this book regularly during Internet chats with fans of my favorite team and other clubs. Last season, my team traded for a young goaltender named Jason Bacashihua. I turned to this book to locate stats from "Cash"'s two prior professional seasons and his two years of junior hockey before that.
Someone with the age-honored name of Conacher recently took a position in the American Hockey League, which is to the NHL was AAA baseball is to Major League Baseball. There was a Conacher playing when I first began following the sport in the 1960s. I used the NHL retiree section of this volume to locate no less than seven Conachers that played in the NHL, including Brian, who played in Toronto and Detroit during the 1960s and 1970s.
It doesn't matter what you want to know about the NHL, it is in this book. No other book out there can make that claim. If you love hockey -- and what fan doesn't? -- you need this book beside you whenever the next NHL season gets under way.

I acquired this book shortly after its release and have found it to be a terrific addition to my Flyers history collection. Beginning with the history of hockey in Philadelphia and continuing right up to the publication date, it's crammed with interesting, relevant, and challenging quizzes. Formats include objective questions, word search puzzles, matching, identify the player photos, and multiple choice. No era of the orange and black's rich history is slighted. It's a great learning tool for the newer fan, and hours of fun for life-long fans! Before you can call yourself a knowledgeable Flyer fan, you need to pass this test.

What can I say, I love hockey and rules are easy on the face but truly intricate on deeper inspection. Do you know what constitues goalie interference if a player is moving toward the netminder with the puck and elbows him during the act of shooting? Do you know what is considered too many men on the ice when it seems that, for each line change, the fresh players come off the bench before the outgoing stickers are technically off the ice? Do you know if it is a legitimate goal if a player scores a goal off his kneepad by inadvertantly deflecting an opponenets pass into the net? If you do not care about these types of questions, then might I suggest that you take up badminton. If you do, then keep this little dandy in your pokcet or TV stand for the next game and enjoy it on a whole new level. Who knows, you might be wearing the white and black stripes in your favorite easy chair. Note to book purchasers: whistle not included. Skate hard!

This is a great book for people who want to understand the game. It answers questions from the exact length of the ice, lines on the ice, etc. to the different hand motions on the penalties called by the referee. I give this one 5 stars!!!

For over 75 years this storied franchise from the days of George "Tex" Richards to the retirement of the number 99 has provide New York and the world of hockey with some great and memorable moments that will last into the next millennium.
While I am not a Rangers fan, I was most impressed by the layout of the book. Filled with Pictures and stories this book is certainly on for the library. I was treated to history about not only the team but also the players who played there.
Sport Publishing Inc. has certainly given you a real collectors item, whether you love the Rangers or the NHL this book is one to have. Priced to fit any budget this would make a great gift for both young and old.
