Inside AutoCad 12 is worth every dollar.Review Date: 1997-09-21
learn AutoCad at the local collage, I learned as much at
the same pace at home with this fine book. It should be sub-titled as a tutorial. The book begins assuming you know nothing about AutoCad,
and carefully explains in a straight-forward method all you need to know. Everything is done in sequence so each excercise teaches
new commands to be used in following drawings. It is a great primer
for new users learning 2-D basics, and I have shared it with experienced users at work as a reference manual for 2-D
and 3-D drawings. The book comes with a disk with programs
to help you learn which was a real time-saver for me. I would recommend this book to all beginning and professional
AutoCad users. I have other titles from The New Riders Publishing Company, and they have all been a very good investment.

While a co-worker was spending hundreds of dollars to
learn AutoCad at the local collage, I learned as much at

Written by a Professional Loan BrokerReview Date: 2003-01-23
"After you read this book, you will be able to get a copy of your credit report and sit down at the kitchen table with a pen, paper and calculator and determine whether you qualify for a loan or not. If you don't quality, you will know exactly why and what to do about it." -Howard L. Russell
The Insider Credit Handbook will show you:
1. How to get, read and understand your credit report
2. How to establish credit
3. How to re-establish credit
4. What is a personal loan: what it takes to qualify for one and how to get it
the two kinds of car loans: what it takes to qualify and how to get one
5. Home equity loans: what they are and how to qualify to get one
6. Using a loan broker: what they do, what they charge and avoiding the rip-off guys
7. Bankruptcy and what to do next. An alternative to bankruptcy.
In the first chapter you learn exactly where to go to find your credit report. Web site info and phone numbers and how to get your report fast. In the back of the book, there are sample reports so you can read this book and see examples on the actual forms.
Once you get your "own" report, that is when this book gets really helpful!
Like: You might see: Sum-ACCTS 18, 3-ZEROS, 14-ONES
What does ACCTS:18 mean? When you see this on your report it will mean you have 18 loans listed on your credit report.
The author takes you step-by-step through your entire report! How unique to actually have someone spend that much time explaining things. Oh the beauty of books. There is no way the author could spend this much time in person because he would be out getting loans for his clients. So, this is really the "decoder" for your report. Although, I must say, he does do everything he can to help people get their credit back so they can get a loan the next time they apply. There are plenty of examples and stories that were quite interesting to read.
There are some very important "warnings" listed. Like if a loan officer pulls a credit report and sees lots of recent inquiries, it might mean you are trying to borrow a lot of money in a short period of time or you have already been turned down a few times.
You know, I don't normally review "finance" type books, but this one is dang interesting! It is like entering this secret little world of loans. The font size is nice and easy on the eyes.
This should be required reading at some time during high school! Everyone in America needs this information, because eventually you will need a loan. At that point it might be too late to undo the damage caused by mistakes you didn't even know you made!
Highly Recommended!

An Intoxicating ReadReview Date: 2006-03-11
From its evocative opening pages, the reader is drawn into a story of overindulgence and experimentation set against the backdrop of a backend-of-nowhere setting - Gomersal.
Having grown up in "The Rhubard Triangle" of West Yorkshire , it wasn't hard for me to be transported half way across the world, to a village setting which probably has changed little since the mid-nineteenth century, to a family of alcoholics and their co-dependents whose actions and reactions are also constant through the ages.
Barlow's pages reek of authenticity. But, don't get me wrong, INTOXICATED is far from a torrid story. Like the secret recipe which is added to the Rhurbarb drink, the cast of colourful characters spike the mixture and titillate the imagination.
Take Vermilion - the personification of the music hall midget - colourful by name and nature, and the weakling George who slowly emerges like the proverbial butterfly, Isaac Brookes - entrepreneur - seemingly unstoppable, and the rest of the cast of contrasting hangers-on who are unwittingly carried along in the tide of reverie.
INTOXICATED captures the reader's imagination with its drama and pathos and Barlow portrays its characters with honesty and sensitivity.
INTOXICATED is a great read and I can thoroughly recommend it.

Not just the dollars and cents of it, but things school doesn't teach you, like facts about state and local income tax, how credit cards really work, what the stock market is and how you can take advantage of it, how to save for your retirement, and even how to go about starting your own business.
Although aimed towards girls, I found IT'S A MONEY THING! a great beginner's guide to managing your money that would be perfect for boys, as well. Although most boys might not take advantage of the journal pages or the fill-in-the-blanks lists and charts available in the book, it would still make a great guide to anyone looking for a primer on how money really works -- and how you can get it to work for you.
Even as an adult, I found a lot of things to be highly helpful in this book, especially the breakdown and translation of stock terms, the additional listings of websites about money and finance, and the glossary. All in all, this is one book that would make a perfect addition to any home or school library.

Karen's Lucky CoinReview Date: 2001-10-25
This book is about a girl who finds a lucky penny and finds a wallet full of money. The main character is Karen, who has blonde hair, blue eyes, loves to have fun at the fairs, and is very friendly. The story begins in early June; Karen is sitting outside talking with her friends when she finds a lucky penny.
This book has a hopeful ending. She wants to go to Fun Land, but she has no money until she finds a lucky penny when she finds a wallet full of money. My friends would like this book because it's about a girl that learns the value of the dollar who doesn't take money seriously.
This book tells the story of a girl that finds a lucky penny and finds a wallet full of money. The genre is fiction (not real). The book fits in a larger context-social because there was a lot of socializing in this book. I like this book because it is non-fiction (real) like biography.
This book is a powerful look at the concept of not taking money seriously. I like this author because it makes you want to stay and read it some more. With the other authors, I just read one chapter, and then I'm finished with the book. I read a book based on how interesting it is, if I like to think about it more. If it is boring, I read it fast to get it done. I like the book Karen's Lucky Penny because there's more adventure in this book than the other books I have read in the past.
