Excellent Book for the Beginner on U.S. Policy

Ron Paul is bipartisan in his book, leaving political affiliations at home. The book is an overview of contemporary U.S. policy, well written for the beginner, he doesn't get to technical with his explanations. He covers many important policy areas that the majority of Americans are left in the dark about. Not only does he identify the problems facing America but gives solutions that would be manageable if people would just come together. Some of the problems identified are; Federal Reserve, Inflation, Civil Liberties, America's War Machine, Health Care, Humanitarian Aid, and various other policies that pertain to every American. Well worth reading, especially considering it is an election year.

This is a book that every American should read. We need to make a stand now before we have everything taken away from us.We have lost to much freedom and can never get it back. This is a great country run by miss directed people. Our government is getting out of hand and way to big.

The U.S. has a terminal disease and it takes a heavy dose of limiting the scope of our government to survive. Dr. Paul is the man with the prescription. The question is whether the country will take the medicine and recover or continue to ignore the symptoms and let the disease progress.

What many in our government would not want you to know...

This book pulls no punches when confronting the popular social/political/economic "views" of the state-run media outlets. This was my first time reading any of Ron Paul's books, and I had only known of him through his campaign for Republican nominee for the upcoming Presidential election.

I have never rated a book on Amazon before, but I consider myself an avid reader. I hope many of my fellow Americans will read this book and be changed by it; I am recommending it to all my friends, family, and coworkers. I wish this could be a more insightful review, but I realize that the more I know, the more I realize how much I don't know. But this book has made me want to know more, and I think it may have the same effect on you. Wake up America, turn off the T.V., and pick up this book.

A MUST read for any true American patriot

J. D. Seagraves review says what I would have written so I feel foolish repeating what was already said so well. PLEASE read his review.

What the book says that needs to be stressed is this is supposed to be a country of 'we the people', 'one person one vote', with an elected congress that has read the Constitution and knows what the Founding Fathers wanted.

Deep down I think Ron Paul has started a revolution and like the original one, it may be slow starting, but it will grow and we all will owe a big thanks to Ron Paul.

Am getting extra copies for my local library and have recommended it as a teaching tool for all the homeschoolers I know. We are a third generation homeschooling, libertarian minded clan. Who also has a Ron Paul bumper sticker on the car.

I'm 48, and about 20 years ago, I first read "I AM GOD" in a book by Shirley MacLaine. It was revolutionary then - and NO ONE talked about it. Now, when Bishop Jordan writes it -I KNOW IT. I AM GOD. YOU ARE GOD. WE ARE GOD. Imagine if the whole world finally came to that realization. Whether your God is black, white, Hindu, Catholic, whatever. That God put you here for a reason - and Bishop Jordan helps you remember that. I HIGHLY recommend this book. Thank you Bishop Jordan. Blessings everyone.

Bishop E. Bernard Jordan's book brings three words immediately to mind: BRILLIANT, POWERFUL, AND INSPIRING. This wonderful book is all three of those things and I should actually add, eye opening and insightful, to that list of adjectives. This book is a MUST READ for anyone wanting to manifest prosperity into his or her life. I can't urge you enough to read this book AND to seek out other books/videos by Bishop E. Bernard Jordan. His teachings are influencing huge corporations and world leaders and after you read this book I'm sure you will understand why. Stop wasting time reading the reviews and get the book. Your return on investment from absorbing the principles in this book will pay for itself many, many times over! In "The Laws of Thinking" Bishop Jordan teaches 20 secrets to manifest prosperity in your life. If you're a Christian the book will renew your spirit and bring you closer to God as well. If you're not a Christian then this book will give you some valuable deeper insights and may open your eyes to some important things that you hadn't considered or experienced before. Really, it doesn't cost much and what you will surely gain from absorbing the principles taught in "The Laws of Thinking" make it an easy choice - GET THE BOOK AND READ IT TWICE!

I think all women should read this book and share it with others (family and children). Not only does Mr. Bach discuss how saving a little here and there can help with retirement, but he also gives women inspiration to live out (and especially to finance) their dreams. A wonderful book.

I bought this book because I heard so many positive things about it. I am in my 50's, five years ago I went from having the wonderful life that all women dream of. I had the beautiful home in the suburbs, 2 beautiful children, friends, you name it I had it. Then I lost it all in the blink of an eye. I had relied on my husband to handle all the finances I couldn't tell you the balance in the check book. All I knew was he made the money and I spent it. Thank the Lord I was a RN, but I hadn't worked in quite a few years. I am not going to go into detail what happened but when I said I had nothing but the clothes on my back I mean just that. I have been working two jobs for the past five years making good money but I have NOTHING to show for it. By reading Suze book I was able to identify myself, it is so easy to understand that someone like myself with NO understanding of finance can take her suggestions and work them into my present life. It is going to take discipline on my part and learning to say NO to my children is going to be the hardest. But, I need to take care of myself. This book was just what I needed to read. I highlighted areas, I keep going back and re-reading certain sections. I keep it next to my bed. Buying this book was one of the best things I have done for myself.

His Grandmother Taught Him Well!
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2008-03-08
Smart Women Finish Rich is a bit different from other financial books I've read. I have to admit I was surprised with how well David Bach addressed both the emotional and intellectual relationship women have with money. His grandmother taught him well.

I am going to say that Smart Women Finish Rich is more for a financial beginner than a woman with financial savvy. It's a well thought out system of gaining and keeping control of your financial self-sufficiency. Bach has filled this book with definitions, resources, quizzes, systems, exercises and tables. I was impressed and give it a must read if you're serious about becoming more financially organized.

David Bach addresses both the heart and the head in Smart Women Finish Rich. He used the lessons he learned from his grandmother, and his mother, as inspiration. After growing up with two such powerful role models, he was surprised by the number of financially uniformed women. Many of the women who came to him for financial advice, had no clue about building financial security.

Smart Women Finish Rich is easy to understand. I read it and "got it." This is a "how to" book that involves a commitment on your part to read, work and put the assignments and lessons into daily practice. Bach has carefully given us valuable financial keys, now it's up to us to follow through.

What you'll get out of this book is going to depend on what you're willing to put into it. It's a book that has the potential to give you a great foundation for financial self-sufficiency.

Here are some of the areas I found particularly useful:

1.The first exercise, "Financial Knowledge Quiz" is a great practical place to start. I found it to be thoughtful and quite an eye-opener. I learned about how well (and sometimes not so well) I understood the role money played in my life.

2. David Bach is adamant about pinpointing the reason money is important to you. To find this out, you'll need to examine your money values and ask yourself if your financial behavior matches those values. He provides a simple but thoughtful exercise called the "Values Ladder."

3. Smart Women Finish Rich is a great blend of exercises, systems, quizzes and practical "real world" information. For example, the "Finish Rich File Folder System" is a simple, easy-to-follow and yet an organizational time saver.

I definitely give Smart Women Finish Rich five stars! If you're ready and serious about getting your financial house and monetary priorities in order, this is the book for you!

One look at all the reviews and you notice they are all done by first-time reviewers with the same heading, writting style, and grammar. That should tell you something right there. I think the author wanted to vamp up sales with these fake reviews, which I believe were all done by the same person. Amazon should take notice of such schemes.

I found that this book has a lot of history in it. It was nice to read about psychic Stephen's views. I am a firm believer in being open minded and this psychic book made me feel more open minded then ever. I clearly wanted to get a taste of psychic science in a nut shell and I did. This was the 3rd psychic book that I have read and I found it to be different and somewhat entertaining. I loved the fact that psychic piperno is from NY and I am from there as well. Psychic Stephen seems to know what he is talking about. I thought that it was so brave of him to share so much of his story about his family and his psychic life in general. This man is very blessed. His views are shared by so many people that I have spoken to. I think that more psychics should stand up and write about what they believe to be true. This book is both enjoyable to read and a wonderful teaching tool!

This takes you back into the 90's as well as other decades. Piperno Prophet tells it like it is in this psychic book. I hold many of the same philosophies as psychic Stephen does. I have always been Christian my whole life, but became a psychic when I turned 25. Psychic Stephen has put my spirit at ease because I have always been guilty. I feel like I should not be a psychic if I am a Christian, but I am looking at things differently now thanks to this psychic. God bless!

I have to agree with the person who said all the 5 star reviews are suspicious. I don't know how anyone could like this book?
I would rather sit through a 10 hour sermon - at least then I wouldn't have to deal with the poor spelling, grammar, etc. It's LOSE, not LOOSE!!
In addition, the title is a bit misleading. This book is a daft Christians point of view, not a psychic's. It's also disturbingly male-centric.
I feel kinda bad for badmouthing a book like this, but I really don't want anyone to buy it based on all the good reviews.

Vital information for all college kids and new grads
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2006-04-14
I gave this book to both of my kids before they went to college.
My son first said that he wouldn't read it but when his roommates started getting into credit card problems they turned to this clever guide to see how he could make it through college without falling into the ubiquitous debt trap.

His fraternity brothers graduated with thousands of dollars in credit card debt. Two of them even had to move back into their parents' homes because they couldn't afford aparatments on their small starting salaries since their credit card payments far exceeded their salaries.

My son got a great job after college using advice he also found in this broad ranging book. Granted hia job didn't pay much in the beginning but without credit card debt he was able to get an apartment that he could afford and buy a used car with cash he had saved. A year later he has enough left over from his paycheck to put into a 401(k) plan. He's happy and able to support himself and his mother and I are proud that we have raised such a financially responsible son.

Our daughter chose to go directly to grad school. Learning from her brother's experiences she also followed the advice in this savvy book and just said NO to credit cards until her senior year of college. She uses the cards but pays them off each month.

While most of our friends don't like to discuss the financial problems that their kids have gotten into a lot of our neighbors' growns kids have shared their credit card problems with our kids. Some are even using the book to help them get out from under their college credit card debt.

That just scratches the surface of the useful advice in this book. All college kids and teenagers should be required to read this book before they've dug themselves into debt.

I highly recommend it.

Sensational Book That Stands the Test of Time
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2004-03-16
If you have been trying to make money in the markets or even just getting started by paying off debts then you -- like most of us -- have probably bought many books that purported to help you manage your finances and create wealth.

Like most of us those other books probably did not work for you --even if they were recommended by TV celebrities who know nothing about finances but can't resist recommending books for other motives.

If those other inferior books did work as they were purported to then why would you still be looking for a book with usable answers?

This book, Simple Money Solutions, is a stunning exception.
The advice is accurate. It includes an array of advice because money advice is not one size fits all. And the advice never becomes obsolete. It does stand the test of time!

In fact those other books that claim to have THE One and Only answer is almost guaranteed to be nothing but a book built on unproven gimmicks or trendy tricks that do NOT work and that certainly won't work over the long haul.

This book and its author, Nancy Lloyd, have taken a different and sound approach to money matters. She presents the issues we're all struggling with out in a clear and concise way and then lays out the options, including financial products, services and strategies to implement various plans.

My neighbor and I both read this book but based on our individual situations we chose different financial strategies that fit our unique lives.

I have now thrown my other financial advice books out (I wouldn't even give them away for fear that some unsuspecting reader would follow those other books' feeble and inaccurate advice).

But I have been punked by other books for the last time.

Simple Money Solutions is a KEEPER!!

Our Get Out Of Debt Club's

Review Date: 2004-03-11
Our book club had a secret a few years ago. In addition to loving to read good books with strong narratives, it turned out that all of our 18 members also had huge amounts of credit card debt. Some of us had about $5,000 in debt, most of us hovered between $20,000 and 35,000 and two of us actually had over $50,000 in unwanted debt. Things were getting desperate.

When we finally fessed up to this secret problem we started looking for good money management-debt reduction books but while many claimed to do it most left us with more debt than we started with. Eithher their advice was too convoluted, or too simplistic or in some cases not legal.

Several of us had even been to debt consolidators and other debt eliminators but many of them took our money and fled without ever paying our bills.

Then we saw Nancy Lloyd on Good Morning America and decided to give this book a shot. Ding, ding, ding. It was a winner.
She explained in plain talk how to get real about our debt. We learned how to negotiate with our creditor -- even exactly what to say to get them to lower our interest, forgive some debt and get some negative marks taken off of our credit reports.

Nancy also showed us some simple ways to, as she put it "free up cash each month" so that we could finally make more than the minimum payments.

What can I say except that after several years all but two of us are DEBT FREE. The other two women can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Our book club has now become an investment club and Nancy's great advice on starting and growing a portfolio are paying off even in this sideways stock market.

We now have Peace of Mind at last and no longer fear answering the phone because the creditors are no longer calling!!!

I originally bought this book three years ago. I had read the Game of Life by Florence Shinn and I was looking for more info about prosperity. WE have used the laws, specifically the law of vaccuum- giving things away freely, writing things down, visualization, affirmations and the most powerful law- tithing. I can't begin to tell you how using these laws have changed my family's life. It is like clockwork, everytime we use these laws wonderful things come about in unexpected ways. Actually, I have a list of things I wanted in life from three years ago when I bought the book and even though they seemed a bit unnattainable at the time, I can say that as of today, every single thing on that list (and more) have miraculuously came true. Now I stock up on copies of this and the Game of Life and give them to people who need and want to learn the laws.

This is the first Catherine Ponder book I have read and, while I normally read a lot of motivational material, I likely will not read any more Catherine Ponder anytime soon. Her message is certainly worthwhile: making affirmations in your own life will help you to draw upon God's assistance to achieve your goals. She is also a minister, which explains why she draws her approach from a sprirtual angle. While this effort is certainly worthwhile for a reader, her supporting examples are not specific enough to satisfy my need for "proof". In Ponder's book, her examples are full of "a woman I know...", "a businessman...", and other such vague statements. Contrast that with Napolean Hill's book "Think and Grow Rich." Hill's examples are specific and precise: "Thomas Edison tried over 10,000 times...". Napolean Hill and Catherine Ponder both have a similar message in their books. But while Catherine Ponder's message is meaningful and worthwhile, her examples are not down to earth enough to suit my tastes.

Catherine Ponder makes it sound easy - and it is. She relieves us of any old guilt we might carry from christian childhood that leads us to think we have to passively wait and see what god has in store for us. Or that wanting more money, health, peace of mind might be sort of selfish or evil. She knows we're built to go for it and when we don't, we get depressed. It's GOOD to be busy reaching goals.
I've had this book a while and just ordered one for a friend who needs a good shake - her goal is to have "just enough" to exist and no more. So silly. As Catherine taught, the universe is huge, wealthy and generous.

It will take me weeks to implement all the information, but each step is clearly presented. If you write to sell you need this book as flowers need rain.

Great book for self-published authors and small publishers

The position of a first-time self-published author is not an enviable one; you've already written your manuscript, invested money in typesetting, cover design and an initial print run, you've purchased an ISBN number and your book is in Ingram's database, so it can be ordered in stores. You wait a week, and then another, for book sales to start coming in. Finally, realization begins to set in - just because it is possible for someone to walk into a book store and order your book, it isn't very likely that it will happen, because nobody knows about it.

Marilyn and Tom Ross have written an excellent resource for self-published authors and small publishers who want to get their book sales going, and their techniques are considerate of the budgets that most self-published authors are constrained by.

If you successfully self-publish your book, there are three steps for you to follow:

1. Write a solid, clear and engaging book that people will enjoy reading. Refer to books about clear and effective writing.

2. Work your way through the publishing process. Refer to Dan Poynter's "Self-Publishing Manual".

3. Get the word out about your recently published work - this is exactly what the Marilyn and Tom Ross show you how to do in "Jump-Start Your Book Sales".

In short, if you are a self-published author, are considering self-publishing, are a small publisher, or even if you're a traditionally published author who wants to take a more active role in the promotion of your book (which most publishers will expect you to do anyway), you should read this book.

through the self publishing process of my new book. More than a notion, self publishing is very rewarding but extremely time consuming, and SUPER hard work. I thought writing the book was hard. Ha! That was the easy part!!! Thank goodness I bought this book, as its given me many great ideas for marketing and promotion. It's wonderful to have written the best book in the world, but it doesn't mean anything if no one knows about it! Thanks Marilyn!!!!

It's Never Too Early to Start Marketing

Do you know when you should start marketing your book? Marilyn Ross does, and in "Jump Start Your Book Sales" she reveals the answer. (Hint: It's before you start writing it!)

Before, during, and after -- in fact. Regardless of where you are in the writing and publishing process, book marketing should be at the forefront of your thinking. Is your book even marketable? What is the market? What length of book are those people used to buying? Why would they buy yours instead of (or in addition to) all the other similar books on the market? What will differentiate yours? These are the kind of questions you should be asking yourself even before you put pen to paper, or fingers to keys, as the case may be.

These strategic concepts are the bread and butter of the pages comprising "Jump Start." Don't be surprised if you find meat in the middle that you can really sink your teeth into. This isn't another rehash of duplicative information available for free from countless websites. This is the real deal, written by the co-founder of the Small Publishers Association of North America. Highly recommended reading before you start writing, before you start publishing, and after you think you've marketed it all. - Brent Sampson, author of Self-Publishing Simplified

Get Your Assets in Gear was the answer to questions I've always had about finances. One of my goals in life is to always have enough money to cover my living expenses and still have more for pleasure. This book tells you exactly how to save enough to be financially fit and happy along the road to financial independence. I am so excited that I am 23 years old and have this book, because I am now 100% positive that I will have the life, financial and otherwise, life that I want. I have always found finances difficult to comprehend between 401k, stocks, mutual funds, loans, etc. Get Your Assets in Gear makes it crystal clear what each of them are, and what the perks are of each. This book gets a huge thumbs up for making each point clear, specific, and attainable, and the icing on the cake is that it was an easy, fun read!

Get Your Assets in Gear focuses on young people just starting out but she doesn't neglect those of us who are catching up; her advice is equally suited to any person of any age who just wants to increase their wealth and their quality of life. Geiger provides a questionnaire in Chapter One to determine whether this is the book for you and to help your chart your progress.

Geiger's approach is very positive and upbeat; she never couches anything in negative terms because she's a great believer in a positive outlook affecting your finances directly.

She makes great use of others' wisdom as well as her own experience as a financial professional; for example, she provides some affirmations from author Chellie Campbell in the form of a daily exercise that is a lot of fun. Geiger believes in marrying thought to action; throughout the book she provides information and advice and then provides you with directions on the exact step to take at the end of each chapter.

Geiger's strength is in simplifying financial subjects in a way that is enjoyable to read and which really emphasizes the most important points. Every aspect of financial planning is covered: budgeting, dealing with debt, tithing, investing, credit score building, house and car ownership, retirement accounts, partner finances, taxes, saving money for college and teaching kids about finances. She manages to cover all these subject in less 200 pages, without glossing over anything and without overwhelming the
reader.

If you are a beginner trying to get educated and organized, you will appreciate her direct coaching approach; if you are more experienced, you will probably appreciate her encouragement and positive wisdom as you reach financial plateaus in life. Even if you already have a lot of knowledge of personal financial planning, Geiger's enlightened educational technique will help you learn how to spread the word and coach your children, family members and friends.

I'm in my late 20s and have been seriously striving since college to build a hugely successful business and accumulate wealth. If I had a dollar for every book I've read on entrepreneurship, wealth accumulation, saving, investing, etc., I'd be Oprah rich!

Of all the books I've read in this space, this is in the top 3. It's simple, savvy, and to the point. After reading this book, a person either wants it and executes, or doesn't want it, period.

Also, I am hyper and if something is boring, I get the blah, blah blues, and can't take it for long. Well, "Get Your Assets in Gear" has the greatest information AND it's not boring -- my kind of book!

I particularly like the strong, clear, and compelling analogies, examples, and exercises that Jan Dahlin Geiger shares. For instance, she addresses the issue of a person's mentality, attitude, subconscious, and emotions toward money and she says, "our minds are like guided missiles." We need a specific target to hit in order to achieve our goals with minimal interference. She also shares a game where you get a certain amount of money per day to spend and it increases each day until the items you have to buy in order to spend the money are mind boggling! It's a "visionary" game since you don't literally have the money at this time but these exercises help get you in the "receiving" and "building" frame of mind when it comes to money...and following Jan Dahlin Geiger's plan you and I will have the money!

She also elaborates on money and relationships -- a sorely needed overview. I hope people will read this book for that reason if no other!! And in addition to the "fun" stuff I've mentioned, the book has "meat and potatoes" substance that breaks down step-by-step what to do no matter where you currently stand on the financial spectrum. There are tons of books that cover this topic but not in this unique style.

I could go on and on, but I won't. The bottom line? "Get Your Assets in Gear" is a keeper in my personal finance library. I was already on the right path and this book turbo boosted me forward!

I read so many books on breaking into the adult film business...I even spent $1,297 on this course from www.adultfilmmaking.com, the "only" online adult film school, which was a total rip off. This book by Ray West and one other one that I downloaded off the internet for $80 have been the ONLY two books I've read that actually give legitimate, usable information on how make money in this business. I don't understand the negative reviews on this book. Yes, the book has grammical and spelling errors but if readers aren't able to overlook that for the information it offers then they probably should stick to their 9 to 5 job anyway. If you're interested in getting into the adult business profitably and successfully, you need all the resources you can get. This book is one valuable resource to get you started. If you're a bible-thumper looking for ways to condemn this industry then you're probably the ones who are degrading the content of this book. Why waste your time? Get this book if you want to make money in this business.

Good book to read I would recommend it to everyone interested in this business.

Ray has always taken turns people are blind to notice. I have purchased many products from him, and the flow, creativity, and simplicity blows everything else on the market away. I was further shocked, being from Seattle, to visit the Microsoft offices and find Ray's book laying on someone's desk in Marketing. I have no idea why there, but this man is a genius from my own reading. - From Anonymous

This book was a blast to read. I heard about Ray West from a forum as being a guru to adult film making. After reading, I know why! Eventhough his book is 2001, I am going after his new stuff. I just can't imagine as a film maker how much fun this book has brought to my life. Ray West, you are a true genius.
