I love Donald Davis's storytelling tapes about his Appalachian childhood, and this one is no exception. "Christmas at Grandma's"
is a 45-minute tape that has 3 autobiographical stories on it, told in Davis's engaging drawl. My 7-year-old daughter has
typically zoned out when I've tried to share books-on-tape with her, but she was immediately taken with this one, and has
listened to it 3 times now. Then we loaned it to a friend, and she and her kids listened to it 3 times as well. Perfect for
a family holiday car trip!

"A Christmas Heart" has uncommon appeal: Its stories can be read to children but they also resonate with adults. The book
puts all readers in the right mood for the holidays.

All I can say is this book is the star on top of the Christmas Tree!!!
As if the pictures aren't enough - she combines them with traditonal Christmas songs - and together they make the perfect Holiday gift for friends, family - or even yourself!!!
It's exactly what the title suggests - 'Christmas Joy'!!!

COtM is a fabulous source of inspiration when it comes to making ornaments. The photos show each project in its final stage,
a few have diagrams to show folding technique, and for those projects using a pattern, one is provided (although you'll have
to enlarge at times). The projects are great for beginner and intermediate crafters as the directions mostly involve glue,
ribbon, beads, glitter and paint. There are a few advanced projects but those mostly deal with oven and/or air dry clay.
These are great rainy-day projects the whole family can enjoy because the instructions tell you all the items you will need
and most are only 4 step processes. Finally, for those who feel their place is in a hardware store rather than a craft store,
there are even projects for you! Various non-traditional elements are used to make some of the lovely ornaments too. Well
worth a purchase.

Cinnamon & The April Shower is a bilingual (English/Spanish) picture book entertainingly written by Amy Crane Johnson, superbly
illustrated by Robb Mommaerts, and translated by Eida de la Vega. It's spring and the forest is filled with newborn animals
and reawakened plant life. Pearl Squirrel, Lewis Cardinal, Cheri Cardinal, and Cinnamon (a friendly black bear) engage in
a flurry of activity with their woodland friends when Solomon Raven warns them to seek shelter and while explaining the importance
of rain for animal and forest survival. Children ages 4 to 8 will be informed even as they are being entertaining with this
carefully crafted book that is a "must" for school and community bilingual picture book library collections.

Keeps pre-schoolers interested while teaching the months

"Cinnamon's Busy Year" is an adorable story of Cinnamon the mouse and her two friends, Pip and Tootie. Through these three mice, children are introduced to the concept of months, order of the months, and specific holidays that happen each month. If there is no holiday, the author has still provided the reader with other activities or events that would traditionally happen in a particular month (for instance, a wedding in June).
"Cinnamon's Busy Year" gives the child a story to follow and get interested in, yet still helps teach the months. This book would be a wonderful addition to any preschool classroom, as well as a way for parents to reinforce the months with his or her child in a fun way.

"The commanding success of Christie's 1988/89 auction year is thoroughly documented in 'Christie's Review of the Season.' Considered to be one of the most authoritative and well-produced guides to the art market, the 'Review' provides a wealth of colour illustrations highlighting the major works of art from the year's sales, complemented by a selection of definitive articles recording current trends and particular points of interest.
Pontormo's 'Portrait of Cosimo I de' Medici' sold in New York for $35,200,000, caught the attention of both press and public as it marked renewed interest in Old Master Paintings as well as the continuing upsurge in record prices achieved at Christie's. No fewer than 147 works sold for over $1 million this year. Records were also set for Latin American Art, an area that has become a major focus for collectors and museums. In his article, Edward Lucie-Smith comments on this change and provides an appraisal of Latin American Art.
While Picasso came to London with his celebrated 'Acrobate et Jeune Arlequin,' which realized the extraordinary sum of $38,456, 000, a series of major specialized collections also attracted much attention. New York saw the sales of the Goetz, Wallace and Searle Collections of Impressionist paintings as well as the outstanding Tremaine Collection of Contemporary Art. Fulvia McMullen writes wittily of the hoarding habits of the Bernasconi brothers and the success of their Collection sales. On a more unusual line was the stunning sale of the Erlenmeyer Collection of Near Eastern Cuneiform text, while further east Christie's in Hong Kong saw the auction of the justly famed Palmer Collection of Ming porcelain. In Australia, the landmark auction of the contents of Everton House, the home of Sir Leon and Lady Trout, became the third largest house sale Christie's has ever held."
