I use this book every month as part of my poetry program! The poems are great for improving my students' ability to draw their mental images; the "pictures" they see in their minds as I read.

Beautiful book for the eyes, pretty prose for the ears

I bought this book to work on "seasons" as a speech-language pathologist. The rhyming sentences are short but filled with sweet descriptions of each month. The watercolor illustrations are so dreamy! I enjoyed this book with my students and now my 14 month old son.

I don't even know if this book is in prin anymore but, if it is, any sports fan should read it. It is similar to Friday Night Lights, The Last Shot, The Right Kind of Heroes and several books that have been written following one high school team through one year of their season. This chronicles one inner city high school team from Oakalnd and their quest to win the city championship. It follows everything surrounding the players-the one being recruited by every major college football program in the country, the lone whote player in the entire league, the up and coming superstar, the thug hoping to get his life straightened out...this book has it all. It is amazing that the author was given the access to these obviously skeptical players lives that he was and the way he details it is captivating beyond words.

Must read for parents of future high school kids.

This book is a must read for any youth coach of any sport and for any parent thinking of sending a kid to a inner city public high school. Filled with facts and statistics of graduation rates, medium grade point averages and anecdotal stories of tough young lives. If you're at all interested in why the Afican American young male has so many chips stacked against him from day one then read this book.

A Beginning Reader Perfect for Starting Out Your Toddler on Her Reading Career
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 5 total.

SNOW JOE is a beginning and I mean very beginning learning to read book. It show cases fifteen words and with the exception of at, in and that, all the others rhyme with snow. Paul Sharp's excellent illustrations, combined with the simply rhyming scheme will have your just-learning-to-read toddler going through these pages with confidence in no time at all.

I like all the Rookie Reader books. They are just a great way to get a little pre-schooler started on his or her reading career. And an early start is so important in today's world. Children need every advantage they can get, so if you're a parent or guardian of a precious little one, I highly recommend Rookie Reader books. The dividends they will pay in the long run will be priceless.

I have given this book to many family members as a gift. I also have my own copy that I read and keep on my nightstand. The poet has taken great care in his writing and selection of inspirational pictures. The poet takes you on a journey to explore the deep love God has for each of us--and the world God created. You will want to share this book with others as you find comfort, challenge and understanding.

Sparkling Harvest - A sparkling book

Review Date: 2000-01-04
This autobiographical and historical look at Schramsberg and its important role as the leader in American Sparkling Wine. It is written by the owners, Jack and Jamie Davies, in a down to earth, easy to undertstand style. Learn about their vision and pioneering determination to do something that had yet to be done in America, to produce Sparkling wine made the traditional way as done in Champagne, France. The book is filled with wonderful stories, delicious recipes and gorgeous photgraphy. Jim Alinder, demonstrates his Ansel Adams prowess with the camera. This tasteful picture book covers all seasons and aspects of the making of great Sparkling wine in both color and black and white photography.

This book is a must have for any coffee table or wine enthusiast.

A gorgeously illustrated story of Schramsberg Vineyards.

This coffee-table book actually makes great reading! It has splendid color and duotone pictures of the winery, the caves, the vineyards and the surrounding Napa Valley landscape in all four seasons of the year. In addition to telling how they transformed a mountain-side wilderness back into the Napa Valley's leading producer of fine champagnes (President Nixon took several cases of Schramsberg champagne to China to toast Chou en Lai), the Davies have included excerpts from Robert Louis Stevenson's "Silverado Squatters" describing his visit in its heyday 100 years earlier, and the story of how Jacob Schram, an imigrant German barber, was able to save enough to buy, clear and plant his mountain vineyard and dig the caves that have now been expanded to house more than 2,000,000 bottles fermenting today to become tomorrow's finest champagnes. The chapter with Jamie's collection of special recipes and menus for fine dining make this more than just a book for lovers of fine wine and great photographs!

Ray is a real work of art, meaning the girl sure does know how to write! Love Sarah and Blake's story. Sarah really goes after what she wants. You go girl, and much love to you Ray!

Hill is also truly blessed! Loved Jewel and Taj's story. I really get into the age issue stories. I think it is very interesting some authors play out the "age issue," in some books, but this one was nicely done. Much love Hill!

Ms Walkers's Harvest the Fruits can not be forgotten. Nice work!

Strawberry Shortcake and her friends are back in new book and TV releases based on the series from the 1980s!

In this beautiful, fully illustrated book, Strawberry Shortcake and her friends are trying to get some planting done, but find that the ground is still too stiff to dig up. The signs of spring are everywhere, but it's still too cold! Worried, a group of them decides to go out and find spring.

This is inspiring story about helping your friends, solving your problems, thinking of others, and living up your responsibilities. There are many lessons in this story and both kids and parents will enjoy reading it and viewing the bright, colorful illustrations.

Berry cute book!

My 3 1/2 year old loves Strawberry Shortcake. This cute book tells the story of Strawberry and her friends as they search for Spring! Strawberry wants to plant strawberry seeds (and her friends also need it to be springtime so that their plants and flowers can grow) but the ground still has frost and she and her friends can't wait for spring to come...so they go in search of her.

I first became familiar with Mr. Lee's writing through his poetry and his writings about poetry. Intrigued with his style and creativity, I ordered this novel. I must admit to being a little aprehension since Science fiction and fantasy are not areas in which I generally read.

His book has definitely helped make me a convert. Engaging characters and an interesting but easy to follow plot have changed my opinion of the genre. I thought the ending was particularly well-done. So often in a planned series, the endings leave the reader purposely disatisfied. Lee managed to resolve the plot and still left me excited about the sequel. It's the characters that will keep you reading!

I highly recommend this book to new and old readers of science fiction/fantasy books or anyone who wants a fast and engaging read. The nautical theme would make it a great choice for summer reading at the beach too.

Welcome to my world

Hi. Welcome to 'the Storms of Summer'. It's my first novel, so I'd like to be the one to tell you about it.

*****

When Rick Hannon lost his wife to a senseless robbery-shooting, the life he'd carefully built since being found in his late teens, with no memory, fell apart like sand-castles in the rain.

Not even knowing why, he turned to the sea.

What he was to find, in the life of a sailor, and in the eyes of a lovely young seafaring hitchhiker named Sunny, would change everything he thought he knew about the world he'd called home. In fact...it changed everything he thought he knew about himself, and the world to which she led him was to become an introduction to a life he'd been born to live, a land he'd been born to rule, and powers unsuspected that he alone had been born to wield.

Enter the world of Altahan, and learn with Rikhannon of Kestra what it means to be Lord of the Sword, and heir to the Gifts of a race that had built an amazing civilization before Man walked the planet. Speak with dragons, meet the Brothers of the Waves, and find the real depths of your heart in a love so complete that it would last through all the Seasons of Altahan.

*****

Combining my own love of sailing, the sword, and a touch of magic, this book was a joy to write, and I hope you'll find it an equal joy to read. There's more to the story, by the way. The Tides of Autumn should be available in about a year.
