I love it! Finally a cookbook written in "man" language. Nothing complicated about these recipes. Now I can pig out with a pigskin. I hope they do one for my favorite sport...NASCAR.

An Exciting Read from Start to Finish !!!!!

"2020" will hold your interest from start to finish. I looked forward to the quiet of each night so I could return to the book for the next twist and turn that seemed to come with each passing chapter. The author sets the stage for this futuristic Civil War with an evident grasp of American History and it's unfortunate propensity to repeat itself. The main characters are brilliant and the foundation of this novel. Truly a fasinating read with a surprise ending!!

In 3 Quilters Celebrate The 4 Seasons: By The Calendar Girls, Karen Combs, Bethany Reynolds, Joan Shay (three famous quilting professionals) collaborate to provide their specialties showcasing over a dozen quilt projects emphasizing diverse patterns and techniques. Quilters will delight in the fact that these three veterans have very different styles and approaches, providing a diversity of original styles. The color photos are wonderful embellishments.

I am floored by the 3-D Appli-bond of Joan's quilts as it is something I have never seen before but have to say that the three ladies work well together. I have seen Optical illions and the magic stack-n-whack before but have never attempted to try them. Not often I get to learn three new techniques all in one book. So often, I purchase a book and think it is beautiful but too difficult for me to do - not this one! It is definately full of beautiful and new ideas but looks easy with all the detailed instructions.

An excellent book from an individual--not a physician's--viewpoint. Dialogue makes the reading easier and more real. As well, she includes alternate ways to deal with the MCS and ways to make it easier for the MCS patient.

One of the nicest afghan collections yet!

Wow - there are 52 patterns here, in all styles and skill levels. What's especially nice is that this large handcover lies flat when open to a page, so I can put my pattern grid over the page and it stays open -- this makes it much easier to follow the patterns. I started with the Remnants afghan (to use up left-overs) and it came out beautifully. What a feast this book is! Be sure you use natural yarns -- it's so warm and cuddly next to the skin.

A great collection of patterns for anyone who loves to crochet!

for anyone that wants an insiders look at the complicated emotions and life of f. scott fitzerald; this is a treasure. it connects many of the setting and scenes to the flamboyant but sometimes sad life of the auther himself. it gives one an insiders look at how the events in fitzgerald's life affected not only his way of thinking but significantly his writing. you come away with a greater understanding of how the author used his writings to describe his world; and in doing so provided some meager comfort. please read this to learn more about such a complicated and gifted man.

Still one of my favorites after 20 years.

About a collection of characters, men and women of all types, in a smallish New England town. All of them connected through their relationship with the elderly Amelia Larson, one of the town's surviving matriarchs.

About love, hate, foolishness and consequence, compassion, romance, regret, life, death, complications, men's mental crap, women's mental crap, sticky situations, sex, pain, loss, dancing Greek sailors, change...

At turns funny, angering, erotic without being pornographic, sweet, and terribly realistic throughout. Most of the characters will become beloved friends, and those who don't will at least win your empathy.

The author doesn't insult the reader's intelligence with two dimensional characters, overused cliches, and unnecessary sentiment.

This story was set in a time when people still had to take responsibility for their own actions. And even though two of the main characters are lesbos (I can say that...*I'm* a lesbo), this book is definitely NOT PC. So if you're a liberal, you might want to stick to Alice Walker.

This book will make you *feel*. Some things have been lost in our modern society. Things like honor, integrity, a sense of duty, loyalty, morality. Those things we lost are in this book. Get out the tissue.

Because of the tone of the book, I would recommend it to anyone except leftist Democrats/Socialists. (Like I said, it is set during a time in the U.S. when folks had to take responsibility for their own actions.)

Generally speaking, this story has been told many times before, by other authors about different characters living in different times, and perhaps different countries. But this version is the most satisfying, realistic, engaging, erotic, heartbreaking yet uplifting one I've read so far.

Quirky book about living
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2000-05-31
A novel about the tangled lives of small town folks both young and old and the relationships that evolve among them. A story that brings together people from various places and stages in their lives - Amelia, an older woman who recently lost her sister; Agate her young, pregnant housekeeper; Cole Amelia's grandnephew; Dina, the used furniture dealer; and Rosemary, the town social worker to name a few. Throw in some humourous misunderstandings, and this makes for some interesting reading.

This is one of my favorite hiking guides for the Boston area -- varied hikes, easy maps, mostly accurate. Crane Beach and Halibut Point are two of the prettiest places in New England & shouldn't be missed.

This is a great book by a respected local author.

Great book. The AMC guides are so thorough, but this is thorough and readable. Enjoy New England with this book.
